An Eurasian Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) was standing alone on a highland against a blurred out muddy land near shore. It was always busy in search of small crabs. I was lucky to have it in such a posture. The head angle with the beak made it just stand out perfectly against that beautiful Bokeh backdrop!! Pics was taken from Frasergunj sea shore in west Bengal, India.

The “line_up“ is a paperwork series I developed since 2010. The “liners” are made out of paper (Din A3/A4),
oil paint and graphite. The theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers.

An immature male Northern Harrier taking off after just having made a kill (vole in talons). I was fortunate to have the opportunity to watch the entire hunting sequence that let up to this shot. It lasted about two minutes with the harrier about six feet off the ground following the vole. It was a precision strike...silent and deadly. Please view large for best experience.

Looking downstream toward the Black Creek bridge. Finally the weather in southeast Georgia cooled off a bit after weeks with temperatures in the upper 90's. Clouds were rolling in and there was thunder off in the distance but I had just enough time to snap a few shots before I had to head back to my truck.
With the mercury already about to climb into triple digits, the sun peaks over the horizon and finds a pair of EMDs hell bent on Yuma, a fast moving Z train in their charge. At the time Mecca was one of only a handful of searchlight installations remaining on California's portion of the sunset route, it's all crap now!

Matilija Poppy has been called the "Queen of California Flowers". Unique and distinct, it is one of the most recognized and beloved of California’s native plants. The large white blooms are the size of a saucer. The petals look like wrinkled crepe paper, the center is a bright yellow disk. Some have likened the flower to the appearance of a fried egg. A solitary bloom is a very fine thing, but a large stand of Matilija in full bloom is a sight to behold! Hundreds of huge white flowers borne at eye-level on long straight stems, contrasted by attractive blue-green foliage… a real show stopper in late spring/early summer!
