The old Pizza Express. Now confirmed as Unity Hall’s ‘Gallery Entrance’ this will serve as main reception, will house artworks and will lead to our main gallery space.
The Oakland Housing Authority, The John Stewart Company, Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center (ODALC) and the Craigslist Foundation held the 2010 West Oakland National Night Out (NNO) on 8th Street & Mandela in Oakland, California.
Oakland Digital Arts & Literacy Center (ODALC) provided the community with a Digital Photography booth with cool activities and an innovative approach for West Oakland youth to pick-up new skills.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District's work at Unity Island is made up of two separate projects that will remove invasive species and restore 10 acres of coastal wetland habitat. The restoration project is a prime example of a much larger campaign for beneficial use of dredged material in the Great Lakes region.
