I was very lucky to shoot in an empty Unity Temple this week. This is still an active place of worship. The building was designed by Frank Lloyd Write and opened in 1908. It is considered the first "modern" building. My photos do no justice to the feeling in this room. Airy, yet quiet, with an amazing warm glow. Truly a beautiful place.

It's International Women's Day today! Hoping that someday women, including yours truly, won't feel minoritized enough to set aside a special day for themselves anymore. Let us unite to achieve egalitarian living.
Here's to everybody! Not only to the women, but to the men as well. A special mention to my boyfriend Dan Gideon. We'll be celebrating our second year as a couple soon. Mahal kita, my masiken!
14-01-21 Unity Hall Restoration. The stainglass at the back of the Major Hall. We are currently looking at possible methods of blacking out the stained glass, which will be needed for certain performances, and also how to maintain their beauty whilst making the hall as a whole capable of maintaining a regular temperature - all whilst keeping the heritage people happy. Tricky work!

Unity Temple, 1905-1908, Frank Lloyd Wright, 875 Lake St.
One of the most important Wright's building in the beginning of the 20th century. Many people think it's the first modern building. Concrete only. Double core: the taller side is the Temple, and the shorter side is the House. No window at the street side. Lighting mostly from roof windows with yellow and green stained glass.
Wright said when he designed this building, for the first time he realized that the true soul of a building is not wall but space.
Unity College offers a 400+ hour Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Program for students wishing to work in national parks as law enforcement rangers. Students reside at Acadia National Park's Schoodic Education and Research Center for the program. The program includes the controlled tactics training pictured here.
