A few years back I had a unique photographic experience. I came across 2 foxes that were running along the side of the road. They did not seem to mind my presence, and so I walked with them for about an hour, before they decided to split up and wonder down different trails in the park. I went with one of the foxes, and we walked down and back along a marsh trail for over an hour, he hunting for voles while I tried to capture the moments. During that hour he caught 14 voles (hungry fellow) and provided me with over 500 pictures during the 2 1/2 hours I spent in total with the two of them...

The Pernambuco Pygmy-owl is, perhaps, one of the rarest owls in the world.
Unlike most owls, the Northern Pygmy-owl is diurnal - meaning it is active during the day, and frequently at dawn and dusk. Also unique among the owls, the Northern Pygmy-owl is not a silent flyer. When it flies, its wings make a buzzing or whirring sound.
Extensive habitat loss has occurred in the region, and the remaining fragments are small and isolated. Any remaining population is likely to be tiny, to have an extremely small range, and to be declining. For these reasons, the species is listed as Critically Endangered.

Chester Rows is a unique architectural feature in Chester, England. The Rows are a series of two-tiered medieval buildings with covered walkways on the first floor, dating back to the 13th century. These walkways, known as "rows," provide access to shops and other premises, with another set of shops located at street level, often accessed by descending a few steps. The black and white half-timbered buildings are believed to be built on top of Roman ruins. The exact reason for their construction remains a topic of speculation, with one theory suggesting that the Roman walls limited space for commercial expansion. Today, the Rows are a popular tourist attraction and shopping destination, housing a variety of shops.
Undercrofts or "crypts" were constructed beneath the buildings in the Rows. The undercrofts are made from stone while most of the buildings in the Rows are timber. Today about 20 of the stone undercrofts still exist, but at the level of the Rows very little medieval fabric remains. Many of the buildings containing portions of the Rows are listed and some are recorded in the English Heritage Archive. The premises on the street and Row levels are used for a variety of purposes; most are shops, but there are also offices, restaurants, cafés, and meeting rooms. Chester Rows are one of the city's main tourist attractions.
The building housing Mollie's Sweet Shop is a black and white timber-framed structure, characteristic of the Tudor Revival style. The shop's exterior is decorated with a red and white colour scheme and features two tin soldier statues flanking the entrance. Mollie's Sweet Shop is a chain that sells traditional British sweets and American candy. The shop in Chester is situated in a Grade II* listed building at numbers 27, 29, and 31 on Northgate Street, within the Dublin Packet passage.
Next to Mollie's Sweet Shop is the Dublin Packet pub, located at 27-31 Northgate Street, which is also part of the historic Chester Rows. The Dublin Packet is a Grade II* listed building, noted for its black and white timber-framed architecture, typical of the Chester Rows. The pub itself is a traditional British pub that dates back to the 1800s and is named after the packet boats that used to travel between Chester and Dublin. For 16 years after World War II, it was run by former Everton footballer Dixie Dean.
I just love giraffes, they are such unique and beautiful animals!
INFORMATION ON THE GIRAFFE:
The giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest of all land-living animal species. Males can be 4.8 to 5.5 metres (16 to 18 feet) tall and weigh up to 1,360 kilograms (3,000 pounds). The record-sized bull was 5.87 m (19.2 feet) tall and weighed approximately 2,000 kg (4,400 lbs.). Females are generally slightly shorter and weigh less than the males do. The giraffe is related to deer and cattle, but is placed in a separate family, the Giraffidae, consisting only of the giraffe and its closest relative, the okapi. Its range extends from Chad to South Africa.
Giraffes can inhabit savannas, grasslands, or open woodlands. They prefer areas enriched with Acacia growth. They often drink, and as a result, they can spend long periods of time in dry, arid areas. When searching for more food they will venture into areas with denser foliage.
Giraffes have spots covering their entire bodies, except their underbellies, with each giraffe having a unique pattern of spots. Giraffes have long necks, which they use to browse the leaves of trees. They possess seven vertebrae in the neck (the usual number for a mammal) that are elongated. The vertebrae are separated by highly flexible joints. The base of the neck has spines which project upward and form a hump over the shoulders. They anchor muscles that hold the neck upright.
Giraffes also have slightly elongated forelegs, about 10% longer than their hind legs. The pace of the giraffe is an amble, though when pursued it can run extremely fast. It can not sustain a lengthy chase. Its leg length compels an unusual gait with the left legs moving together followed by right (similar to pacing) at low speed, and the back legs crossing outside the front at high speed. When hunting adult giraffes, lions try to knock the lanky animal off its feet and pull it down. The giraffe defends itself against threats by kicking with great force. A single well-placed kick of an adult giraffe can shatter a lion's skull or break its spine.

It connects Averøy with the mainland via a series of small islands and islets spanned by a total of eight bridges over 8274 meters. The road was opened in 1989 and is toll free. The Atlantic Road has National Tourist Route status and the entire stretch between Bud and Kristiansund is one continuous experience packed with coastal scenery, culture and history. The contrasts between a trip on a sun-soaked and tranquil summer day and a foam-sprayed journey in a storm from the northwest are amazing. Take your time and open all of your senses. The Atlantic Road experience will give you memories for life. Park your car at designated stopping places, climb a hillock and enjoy the salty air and the magnificent view. Whether the ocean is flat calm or a storm is brewing; there are great nature experiences in store.
Rosie has some unique companions in her life. In addition to her monkeys, she has a two headed map turtle named Flora and Fauna that she has befriended. She has presented her at summer circus shows a few years, but winters are quiet times at home.

Bryce Canyon National Park

The scene could only be from Bryce Canyon and it is a photographer's dream when coupled with a wonderful sunrise.
My wife and I arrived the prior afternoon and had hoped to explore the park for a sunrise shoot location; however, there were strong thunderstorms in the area and instead we found a place for to enjoy a beer. It was still pretty dark and cold when we set up the tripod in this location the next morning.
Bryce Canyon is located in the state of Utah and is relatively close to Zion National Park. It was designated a national park during 1928. At 56 square miles, is smaller than many other parks, but is a gem with its countless colorful hoodoos. Its elevation is somewhat high ranging from 6,600 ft to 9,100 feet which causes it to have a cool climate. It was a refreshing mid-50s F the August morning we took this photo.

The methodical disassembly of the historic Philippine Mars flying boat continues at Lake Pleasant, Arizona. As each piece is removed, it is trucked down to the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson. This unique aircraft will be re-assembled and restored, before being put on permanent display at the museum. I find this entire process amazing and fascinating!

I use fine art photographic print, the sum of photography and art. Fine art use special paper and pigments that last over 100 years, without a change. A special protective spray is applyed on the surface, to avoid dust and moisture. A dedicated certificate of authenticity with an hologram, pairs with an other one on the back of the print, where you will find the print run and my signature, to complete the set.
