It’s that time of the month again. You know the drill: Cravings. Aches and pains. Mood swings. Laziness. And your favorite jeans just won’t button—again. You know they fit last week. Yes, it is possible and totally normal to put on a few extra pounds this time of...

On October 9 at the HIMAWARI HOTEL APARTMENTS in Phnom Penh, an estimated 400 people and a panel of judges that included Ambassador Heidt heard arguments made by the four finalists on the topics of education and economic development in Cambodia.
All of the participants are members of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative and proved that Cambodian youth are not only interested in watching the U.S. Presidential Debates 2016, but they're also great debaters themselves.

Japan is what we would call a "high-context culture" in many, if not all,
ways. This sort of character design would, in my opinion, symbolize
something childish if it were in the United States. If it were used to
make a fence, for example, that fence would enclose a place such as a
kindergarten or a park. In this photo one can easily see why context is
extremely important to life in Japan where, in this example, the cute, pink
bunny does not indicate a place to play in, but rather blocks pedestrians
from entering a construction site.

Thank you for listening. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for being there.
We all have our opinions on rules and life. Some believe in taking the road less traveled. Others are strict on living by the book and unspoken expectations. And some of us are stuck in-between. I can follow that metaphorical beaten path or run through the thick forest. But here I am, standing at the fork, wondering what to do. I’m not the first kid to break down and wonder where life’s taking him/her/hir.
I don’t know what is waiting at the end of the journey. No one does. Those three paths are exactly what they are, paths. Danger and treasure wait on each of them. What types of danger and treasure really depends on your Luck/Fate. I said I’ll keep myself honest. And honestly, I’m conflicted.
If I take that beaten path, I’ll do what everyone wants from me. Maybe I could learn to live by the rules, but that means burying the child inside of me. It means that I won’t be exactly myself.
If I go through the forest, I know I’ll be alone there. I’m not dragging you with me. I need to rely on my inner-strength, but I’m scared I’ll never find my way out.
So here I am, waiting at the fork splitting into two, wondering which to take. Either way, I’ll grow in some form or another. So who and what do I live for? And which path is my ticket to what I’m trying to accomplish? I need to zoom out and take in my surroundings all over again. I need to figure out what I want to make out of my life. Basically, I’m trying to say thank you for watching over me so far on this journey. Thank you for keeping me safe and sane.
Thank you for letting me grow.

To help improve cross-cultural communication and understanding, The Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation (BST) supported the Shaki-based Uluchay Social-Economic Innovation Center with its Photographers Without Borders program. The program’s goal was to enhance cross-border cooperation and intercultural exchange among young photographers from Azerbaijan and Georgia, raising the awareness of local populations about stereotypes between the two nations.
One thing I thought I would never understand was the complicated-looking
bus schedules that are posted all around the city. I wondered to myself,
"how will I ever know which bus goes where?" It was definitely confusing
when I first arrived and I always had to ask someone and felt really
embarrassed that I didn't understand it. Yet, nearing the second semester,
I actually started to understand the schedules and it's description, and
understood well what information it wanted to portray to it's customers. I
was really happy to finally understand it, and even help the new students
figure out how to use it too.
Demystifying International Financial Institutions: Understanding their influence on policies and development in India, with a deep-dive on Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank
The workshop is being co-hosted by Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG), Chennai, Center for Financial Accountability (CFA), New Delhi, and Public Advocacy Initiatives for Rights and Values in India (PAIRVI), New Delhi.
International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) etc., have a pervading influence on India’s development. Their policies for financing Indian industries and infrastructure projects and internal policies on environmental and social protection are often opaque and only understood to an extent.
Apart from the above multilateral development banks, another regional bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), has entered the picture in 2016. This is seen as a multilateral development bank led by China with India being its 2nd largest shareholder after China. It has a motto of being a “Clean, Lean and Green” bank with a commitment to “invest in sustainable infrastructure projects to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. However, not much is understood about AIIB’s financing policies, its commitment to environmental protection and safeguarding rights of citizens.
This one-day event will seek to demystify IFIs and AIIB to enable citizens, CSOs and other stakeholders to get an understanding on the above aspects of the topic.
This event is free and open to everyone.
