One last thing from the Library, this one from the "Irish Lass" outfit. The plaid bodice is the undershirt and the vest and plaid shoulder things are the jacket. There's a cream colored long-sleeved shirt that goes between the two, but I think it's cuter just like this.

This was the first self-portrait I've ever taken. It was challenging positioning myself to get the focus just right shooting at f/1.8 in manual focus. I like the rawness of the shot. You can see all the dog hair on my hoodie and the collar of my undershirt sticking out on the one side; There was no prettying up my appearance here. I got a happy surprise using the studio light on my right. Using that light in a soft box and the conversion of the image to black and white, made the light look more like sunlight through a window. I plan on investing in some speedlites in the very near future, so what I would change about the picture is to just incorporate those and play with darkening the ambient light and using off-camera flash to bring subject forward for an even greater dynamic and image clarity.
Look at that hotpot! And these kids were pro at ordering and loved making sure I always had food in my bowl. L to R: Nicole, Nikki, Abby, Amy (and mom) margaret, Lily, Nicole's mom, Charlie, (DJ), Hanson, Danny, Steven, Matt. Matt got really hot and took off his clothes right down to his undershirt, a Chinese custom (like undoing your pants)

Jay spends his birthday at Haughton Crater, on Devon Island. I gave him a set of merino long johns and undershirt for his birthday. They really ARE comfy wool. With weekly showers, synthetics are not an option. Here, he is modelling the long johns on his head.

I don't know that I have ever tried on more articles of clothing than I did for this prompt. For some reason, I just could not seem to get it right (and I tried several outfits to copy, yeesh). It still kind of felt like a fail. Kayla, I promise I'm not trying to be you, but I opted for a redo tomorrow since it was a hair day. Stay tuned!

The light pink dress shirt is a favorite of mine, because the fabric is thin enough to make it semi-sheer, allowing my athletic undershirt to be faintly but distinctly visible beneath the shirt. I always get turned on whenever I notice other guys wearing an athletic undershirt visible beneath their outer shirt. A man wearing an athletic undershirt is so manly and sexy!

So a funny thing happened inside of one week rather randomly... I was reading a blog post about the History of T-shirts. One part in particular that Will Harris wrote that really caught my attention...
"Though the t-shirt was created in the early 20th century, it was rare to see it worn as anything other than an undershirt. It wasn’t uncommon to see veterans wearing a t-shirt tucked into their trousers post-World War II, but outside of that, t-shirts were almost exclusively used underneath “proper” clothes.
In 1950, Marlon Brando famously donned a white t-shirt as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire, only to be followed by James Dean in 1955's Rebel Without a Cause. Thanks to these two founding fathers, the popularity of the t-shirt as a stand-alone outerwear garment skyrocketed."
OK, so maybe you knew that Marlon Brando was the OG King Of T-Shirts.

But this next 'king of cool" was influenced but another "king of cool!"
A few days later while watching The Tony Alva Story | Jeff Grosso’s Loveletters to Skateboarding | Skate | VANS video reminded me of one of my original favorite t-shirts. I did get into skateboarding back in 1977! And this was when I was actually living here in Alabama! Seeing those skate magazines were a large part of why I went west!

Seriously, I like how Melinda's somewhat rebellious side comes through in this shot a bit more than the others -- up close you notice the loosened tie, the black undershirt, the piercings, the magenta streak in the hair. The little, subtle ways to express her individuality that she's honed over four years of dealing with Catholic high school dress codes.

She doesn't have a name yet. I was impressed with her clothes. She was even wearing an undershirt under her t-shirt and jacket.
Yesterday my best friend and I decided to go to the park for a costume photoshoot (because yay, warm weather!). The only costume I had handy was my half-elf one, so now I'm going to spend the week picking glue out of my hair. ;)
I made the green tunic, cloak, mouse plushie, green/gold necklace (a friend made the amber one), and brown belt pouch. The light brown undershirt is one I'd bought but teastained darker.
(If you're curious why there's a mouse plushie in a lot of the pictures, this costume is actually a cosplay of Raff, one of my writing characters who has a pet mouse.)
