He may or may not be a true gentleman. It looks like he is wearing what some refer to as a "wife-beater" shirt, i.e. a white sleeveless undershirt.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: Both clothing pieces are very versatile. The gray shirt could go under anything (duh, it's an undershirt) and the shorts would match anything, because they are black. I like this wig SO much better than my other Creatable World wig. Alex's (my first Creatable World doll) wig is WAY too curly/unmanageable and looks weird in photos. Hayden's (that's what I named this doll) wig is sleeker, fun to pet, and easier to manage by far. It also blends in better with Hayden's hair. I do have to say--the Creatable World wigs are some of the BEST quality doll wigs we've ever seen. I don't keep them on my dolls in storage because they'd get messy--I store them in ziplocs with the clothes.

So, about two days ago I finally ordered Jakks Pacific Beloved Aurora doll. Actually, I bought her to have Maleficent's Aurora in her peasant blue dress. She came today and I actually I loved her at first (even through she wasn't realistic looking as Disney Film Collection one), but when I took her out of the box... Her hair was such a wild mess, and when I tried to brush her, hair began to 'go out' of her head.

So I decided to put original doll away and give her dress to my DS Aurora. I really LOVE how she looks in it. Dress, in my opinion, has a very good quality, and I like how silky and smooth it is. Now I need another DS Aurora just to keep her in gold coronation dress. I actually already found one for a very cheap price, and I'm going to buy her as soon as possible.

For this one I'm also going to make a brown long-sleeved undershirt (like the one she wore in the movie) and find a new shoes for her (JP's shoes was too loose-fitting for Disney Store's little articulated ankle) as her original golden shoes isn't really movie accurate for this dress.

but today i just felt like stopping in to put on some clothes and then log off.

this photo was done on my old pc so the graphics arent as good as on my laptop.

its crazy to see the difference really.

MISSING ITEMS: Boots, necklace, bottle, 3 puppies, 6 newspapers, dog bowl, 3 bones, ball

IMPORTANT NOTES: This same outfit and accessories were packaged on the 2008 Target Exclusive Taffy Dog & Puppies Barbie.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I got both of my Taffy Dog & Puppies Barbies during the 2014 flea market season. If it weren't for the fact that this outfit was worn by my Luv Me 3 girl in storage, and the cut portion of the shirt, I wouldn't remember who my first outfit came on. My Luv Me 3 gal originated from the "Memorial Day Yard Sale Bin" we found in May that year. There was a lot of evidence of clothing modification in the lot. In fact, some outfits were so cut/torn up that they were not even usable anymore. Usually I will go to great lengths to salvage articles of clothing, since any attire can be useful, but these were too tampered with for any sort of functionality. Luckily, Barbie's shirt still had some wear left in it. The attached undershirt was cut off, which means my doll has to wear a different top beneath this. It's hard to make it work, since the shrug is meant to fit very tightly (so it often comes undone in storage because the top beneath it adds some bulk). The shorts fortunately were spared the same fate as the shirt. As for the outfit and dog in the photo, these were part of the "Labor Day Ladies Lot" of 2019. I was so excited to find a non-tampered with ensemble for my Target exclusive doll to wear! Of course, I let my Luv Me 3 gal borrow it for photos!

Here is my custom Hades doll. He isnt done yet, and i still have to sew his toga and undershirt, but i think he is turning out pretty great! Sorry for the blurry pics!!

will miss you guys!

I'll try to log in weekends and such :) but sl has a tendency to pull me in and never let me go... so... *crosses fingers*

I described how we met in my previous submission (Jody). His friendly greeting as I walked past his front patio was inviting and he has the kind of face a photographer loves to encounter. Meet Darryl.

When I explained my project he laughed and said he felt unprepared as he was just in his undershirt. I told him that wasn’t a problem; it was his face that would be the center of interest. He was happy to participate and quickly invited me to sit down and have a chat with him and his friend Jody.

Darryl, 59, is a native Tucsonian, born in the desert. His career was as a Vice-Principal but he has suffered a series of health setbacks which interfered with his working life. Kindness and politeness flowed from Darryl and chatting with him and Jody was very enjoyable. When I asked Jody to describe Darryl she said “He is great company, stimulating, and open-minded.” That fit nicely with my sense of the man. Darryl told me that he was in the army when he was younger and spent time in Germany and Italy. He said he wishes he could return to Germany for a visit as a civilian. Advice to his younger self? “I wish I had travelled with a jazz band.” I asked if he was a musician and he said he isn’t but that he does love music. His dream? “To be a male stripper” he said with laughter. “But that’s not going to happen.”

Darryl’s message to the project is “Love one another, pass no judgment, and open your heart.” His greatest challenge? “This is it, right now. Health.” He went on to explain that he spent years on dialysis and now has a transplanted kidney. He is also facing his second bout with cancer. “The first time, chemo nearly killed me so this time I’ve put my faith in the Lord.” Darryl’s friendly, upbeat attitude was remarkable, given the challenges he is facing. We had a chance to visit a couple more times while I was visiting Tucson and Darryl always had a cheerful smile and greeting. When I saw him taking out his trash and using his distinctive golf-club cane, I offered to do it for him. “No, but thank you Jeff. This is my exercise.” A few days after first meeting Darryl, I met one of his sons and will introduce him to you next week.

Thank you Darryl, for being such a positive force in spite of your current challenges. It was great meeting you and I appreciate your participating in my photography project. I wish you well.

From the underground steel cage fight matches at Silent Sam's, Ben 10 prepares for combat!

Character Biography

Benjamin Kirby "Ben" Tennyson is the titular main protagonist of the Ben 10 franchise. He was an ordinary 10-year-old boy until he found the Omnitrix, a powerful watch-like device that allowed him to turn into 10 different aliens.

Though initially immature and clumsy, Ben grew to be a true hero. By the time he was 16, he had become famous in not only his hometown of Bellwood but on Earth and beyond. Ben has also been deputized by the Plumbers and has gained more aliens as time progressed.

Appearance

Ben's physical appearance has changed throughout the series from a 10-year-old to a 16-year-old. However, he retains some recurring characteristics. He has brown hair, green eyes, fair skin, and he is quite skinny for his age, though he shows a lot of muscle definition due to being athletic.

Regular Appearances

In the Omniverse flashbacks in which he was five years old, Ben wore green overalls with a white shirt underneath it. White numbers saying "5 1/2" were on a black square in front of his overalls.

In the Original Series and Omniverse flashbacks, Ben's usual clothes consisted of a black-striped, white shirt with short sleeves, military green cargo pants with side pockets with a black belt hidden under his shirt, and black and white sneakers with black stripes. Ben wore the original Omnitrix on his left wrist.

In Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, Ben wore a black short-sleeved T-shirt, blue jeans, and a green jacket with white stripes on his left sleeve and the number 10 on the right, white socks, and black and white Converse-style shoes. His hair is also shorter than it was when he was 10/11 years old. Ben wore the reconfigured original Omnitrix in Alien Force and the Ultimatrix in Ultimate Alien on his left wrist.

In Omniverse, Ben wears a black shirt that has a green stripe in the middle with a white 10 and green stripes on the sides of his shirt. He wears brown cargo pants with pockets at the knees with a brown belt hidden under the shirt and green and white shoes. He has also grown out his hair. He wears the Omnitrix on his left wrist.

During water-based activities in the Original Series, he wore a blue swimsuit in The Krakken and A Small Problem and a red and yellow swimsuit in Divided We Stand and Big Fat Alien Wedding.

In a daydream in The Galactic Enforcers, Ultra Ben looked like Ben with a stereotypical superhero costume in a grey, black and white color scheme.

In Big Fat Alien Wedding, during the wedding ceremony, he wore a purple tuxedo with a red bow tie and white polo shirt.

In Ben 10 vs. Negative 10: Part 2, he temporarily wore a visor in the Mt. Rushmore Plumber base.

In Ben 10 Returns: Part 1 and War of the Worlds: Part 1, Ben's soccer clothes consisted of the T-shirt he wore as a 10/11-year-old but with the number 10 at the back, a long-sleeved green undershirt, green shorts, gray gloves with black stripes, and knee-high socks.

In a flashback in Ben 10 Returns: Part 2, Young Ben wore his T-shirt from the Original Series and shoes from Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, along with military green shorts, white socks, and a bluish grey bicycle helmet.

Personality

“You think I don't know? When it's hero time, if I mess up, somebody could die. From what you told me, if we mess up this time, everybody could die... Maybe that's too much to have in your head when you have to win. Maybe if I pretend everything is a big joke, when the time comes, I'll be able to do what I have to do.”

– 10-year-old Ben to 17-year-old Kevin asking him to be serious.

Initially cocky, childish, and selfish, Ben's immaturity and attention-seeking behavior often led him to joke around, regardless of the situation, which landed him in trouble with adults. When he was 10 years old, he often used the Omnitrix improperly in order to benefit himself instead of actually helping others, such as using Grey Matter to search cereal boxes for a gold Sumo Slammer card.

His allies often criticized his attitude, unaware of the fact that he used humor to mask his fears. It was also implied that, on some level, Ben helped people to get rewards and for the thrill of being a hero, rather than because it was the right thing to do.

Despite some childish attitude, Ben was heroic, caring and generally good-natured, always willing to save others at any time even at the risk of himself. In spite of this good nature, heroism, and his moments of maturity, Ben could occasionally get carried away when it came to fame and recognition.

This led him to act rather arrogantly and recklessly, and occasionally made dire mistakes and alienated his loved ones. However, he was quick to realize his mistakes and is quick to take responsibility and knew not to take things too far.

Over the years, Ben has displayed good leadership skills, as well as the ability to adapt his attitude to a situation, becoming serious when it's called for. He became more mature, responsible and sensible. He continues to be kind-hearted and willing to lay down his own life for others, such as when he attempted to sacrifice himself to set the sentient Ultimate Forms free from the Ultimatrix.

His idealistic views and unwillingness to compromise his values – aspects condemned by Azmuth, yet commended by others – sometimes drive him to act against reason, such as helping his enemies if they need it (most remarkably Vilgax).

Professor Paradox has praised Ben's good nature, going so far as to say he had the gift to make the right choices at the right moments, and even Azmuth himself states that Ben ultimately always does the right thing.

Also, Ben doesn't give up and wouldn't let anyone stop him from doing what's right for those in need, especially his family, friends and mentors, or to bring enemies down, even when he once got a broken arm.

However, even as a teen, Ben still displays some of his negative childish traits at times, which usually comes to light when Ben gets too caught up with fame.

Ben also has a violent, aggressive side: when Ben fails to save someone, is worried about the well-being his loved ones, or if people get hurt because of his failure, he becomes angry and lashes out, even at people he cares about.

Perhaps the most notable of these instances is when Kevin willingly mutated himself to stop Aggregor, Ben was determined to kill Kevin, even fighting Gwen when she refused to help him.

During the episode, Ben confessed to Max that he felt guilty for letting fame get into his head and claimed that he was trying to act more mature for once. He also threatened to hunt down and destroy the Forever Knights if Driscoll did not promise to cease hunting down aliens.

Ben has experienced trust issues, when it comes to automatically trusting everybody and teaming up with people whose true colours are later revealed and turns against the team.

Though often perceived as unintelligent because of his immaturity and constant joking, Ben is cunning and resourceful when needed, quickly adapting when the Omnitrix doesn't provide him with the alien he wanted. He has once admitted that people assume he's not paying attention, but he actually is.

In Omniverse, Ben started thinking of himself as more of a superhero than a Plumber, often remarking that he's not a cop, but a superhero.

Powers and Abilities - Street Fighting Proficiency

Ben is a fairly proficient fighter, even as a human, being able to hold his own against Pierce.

Although he mainly employs a loose street fighting style, he also knows martial arts, having been trained in savate and karate by Gwen, and Marquess of Queensbury boxing.

On top of that, he has gained practical experience from years of fighting aliens. He copied a lot of his fighting moves from Kangaroo Commando.

Ben has also received basic Plumber training, having succeeded in the Plumbers' Academy with a 95 out of a 100.

Ben has good reflexes, being able to easily dodge shots from Manny's blasters before disarming him while in human form, dodge Sunder's axe attacks, Zed's lunges, and a laser blast from Tummyhead.

Ben has an extraordinarily sharp memory, as he was perfectly capable of remembering and writing down the mystic rune-like symbols for entering the inter-dimensional realm of Legerdomain with just one glance from a distance. This is even more true for things that interest him.

Ben is surprisingly a natural at hoverboard-based combat, which generally requires intensive training and the use of holographic simulators. Relatedly, he is also good at snowboarding.

Ben has shown himself to be quite proficient in using weaponry, such as a DNA Repair Gun and Ascalon.

Ben is proficient at driving, having been taught by Max. For example, he was able to swerve out of the way at the last second to avoid coming into contact with Eunice's crashing pod.

Ben has impressive piloting skills, as shown when, at 10 years old, he could adequately control a gyropod (a small ship designed for alien pilots) within seconds of testing, and at 16 years old, could pilot the Rustbucket 3. He gets this skill from a combination of playing video games and tap lessons Sandra made him take, though he would never admit it. Despite this, Kevin is considered to be a better pilot than Ben.

Ben is proficient at baseball.

Ben is proficient at soccer, serving as a goalie for his high school team. In fact, he was the first freshman start as goalie on his school's team.

Ben is a decent musician, as he knew a variety of electric guitar techniques like shredding, hammer-ons, and pinch harmonics, and on drums, was able to keep up with a professional rock band.

It is evident that Ben is smart in some respects, possessing an above-average to high intelligence and maintaining a B+ average at school. Gwen even stated that he really is not working up to his potential at school.

Equipment - Omnitrix

“"You are...one of us?"

"I'm one of everybody."”

– A Necrofriggian Guard and Big Chill.

Ben is the wielder of the Omnitrix (formerly the Ultimatrix and first Omnitrix), which gives him the power to modify his own genetic code in order to turn into various alien creatures. Traditionally, he could only transform into ten aliens at the beginning of both the Original Series and Alien Force, but he later gained additional forms by either unlocking them or by scanning the DNA of aliens he met.

When transforming into an alien, Ben gets all the creature's features, including its appearance, voice, all of its unique and special abilities and powers, strengths and weaknesses. Though he mostly retains his personality, there are some cases where the transformation causes a change in it, like with Rath and Juryrigg.

Though he usually uses his alien forms to fight, he can impersonate aliens as he did with Waterhazard to convince P'Andor to go home, though he was only successful at getting P'Andor to believe he was Bivalvan.

In addition to transforming into aliens, the Ultimatrix included what is referred as an "evolutionary function", that allowed Ben to evolve his alien forms, referred to as Ultimate Forms.

In addition to the primary transformations and evolutionary function, the Omnitrices and Ultimatrix can both be used for various purposes. Both have a built-in Universal Translator that allows Ben to communicate with most aliens that do not speak English.

The original Omnitrix displayed the ability to manipulate and repair genetic damage, a function he used to cure DNAliens and save the Highbreed from extinction. Azmuth also mentioned that Ben could use the original Omnitrix to bring back to life any species stored on Primus.

The current Omnitrix also has a failsafe to help prevent Ben from dying.

Ben formerly owned an X321 hoverboard, given to him by Tetrax. It was destroyed when it fell into a vat of nuclear waste. Tetrax gave him a second hoverboard which was later destroyed by Khyber. The second hoverboard was later either rebuilt or replaced.

Plumber Badge

Ben has a Plumber suit, allowing him to survive in unsuitable environments. Kevin modified his suit by installing a propulsion unit and neuroshock pulsers.

As a Galactic Enforcer, Ben had a badge which allowed him to activate some features from the team's ship remotely.

Ben formerly had a hazmat suit, given to him by Max. The suit protected him from the effects of Corrodium and allowed him to survive in space.

Ben temporarily wore a spacesuit, given to him by Tetrax, which allowed him to survive in space.

Ben temporarily used an ID Mask to disguise himself as a DNAlien to navigate a Highbreed ship.

Ben temporarily drove Kevin's car when Kevin had been aged into an old man by the Time Monster.

Ben formerly wielded a DNA Repair Gun, which he used to revert the DNAliens back to human. Simian later sold it to the Incurseans.

Ben temporarily used Max's motorcycle during Alien Swarm.

Ben formerly owned the Mark 10, given to him as a birthday gift by Kevin. The car is now owned by Sandra.

Ben temporarily wielded Ascalon, which also covered him in armor.

Ben, as Juryrigg, created the Tenn-Speed from parts of the destroyed Proto-TRUK. It was later damaged by Ben off-screen prior to Let's Do the Time War Again, and its parts were used by Ben 10,000 as Uprigg to create the Time Cycles. Both Time Cycles were destroyed when Ben and Rook crash-landed onto the Contumelia Ship.

When in Sumo Slammer Smackdown, he had access to a sword.

Weaknesses - Coulrophobia

Ben appears to have a short attention span and very little patience at times. More often than not, it can get him into trouble, such as not reading the directions when trapped in Sumo Slammer Smackdown.

Though he has matured substantially since receiving the original Omnitrix, he is still a teenager with much to learn and is prone to irrational impulses and recklessness.

Ben has coulrophobia (i.e. a fear of clowns), which was indirectly caused by Max.

Ben is vulnerable to the cold virus.

Ben is vulnerable to hypnosis.

Ben is not immune to Corrodium and will be mutated when exposed to this mineral unless he either wears special protection or transforms into an alien.

Ben can be rendered unconscious by sedative quills, such as those generated by Argit's species.

Ben has an allergy to peanuts.

Ben can experience pain from electricity, such as that generated by a Nosedeenian, Phil as a Terroranchula, a Conductoid or a Cerebrocrustacean.

Ben's worst fear is that of peacocks.

Ben's worst subject is Physics.

Whenever the Omnitrix times out, Ben is left powerless until he either dodges or switches to a new alien form. In addition to gaining the selected alien's powers and strengths, he gains its weaknesses.

Whenever Ben unlocks a new alien form, he is at a disadvantage of not knowing its abilities and weaknesses until he gains experience with using that alien. However, this was not an issue when he wielded the recalibrated original Omnitrix, as the device granted him full understanding of the aliens' powers.

Despite his experience in using the Omnitrices and Ultimatrix, Ben still does not know every function of them. Due to his inquisitive nature and impatience, he has accidentally unlocked new functions such as the Master Control and the randomizer, which can at times do more harm than good.

Though the current Omnitrix is designed to work only for him, Ben still has not mastered it. According to Azmuth, Ben may get the Master Control on his 18th birthday.

The current Omnitrix does not actually mistransform, but rather it is due to Ben hitting the Omnitrix too hard, thereby causing the time-out function to select another alien at random.

At times, the natural biological behavior of certain aliens can override Ben's behavior, such as Big Chill's reproductive phase or Swampfire's blossoming process.

Any illness Ben is experiencing in his human form will affect his alien forms.

Ben has stated that he loves and cares about his mom and dad, and that they're good parents and raised him well enough to become the person he is today.

Ken Tennyson

Ben looked up to Ken as a role model, and Ben practically "worshipped" Ken when he was 10. Ken took Ben to his first soccer practice.

Gwen Tennyson

In the Original Series, Ben's relationship with Max seemed to be that of a father and son, because the majority of the series took place in the summer and Max was the only guardian available. When he was seriously injured in The Alliance, Ben went full strength with Four Arms and brutally destroyed Vilgax's Mechadroids as they were the catalyst for his injury. His relationship with his grandfather has not changed much at all during Alien Force, Ultimate Alien, and Omniverse.

In Ben 10 Returns: Part 1, he yelled at Gwen when she jokingly wondered how Max's cooking hadn't killed him, as he was worried about where he was.

Lucy Mann

Ben and Lucy get along quite well in both the Original Series and Omniverse, though Ben was nervous about dancing with her in Big Fat Alien Wedding. During the Omniverse flashbacks, he was shown to enjoy her company, which she reciprocated.

Allies

Azmuth

Ben's initial thoughts of Azmuth before meeting him were never stated, but he did find it to be somewhat surprising that he was a Galvan. After meeting him, he thought of him as a jerk who cared about no one but himself. However, his perception of him changed when Azmuth fixed the Omnitrix.

Five years prior to Omniverse, Ben and Azmuth interacted more frequently after the latter's reintegration into Galvan society. Ben was disgusted towards Azmuth's refusal to correct Malware, but they still respected and assisted each other. In a flashback in Showdown: Part 1, Azmuth warned Ben to not overuse Feedback, but Ben did not heed his warning and Feedback was lost from the Omnitrix after a fight with Malware. and during a flashback in Showdown: Part 2, Azmuth offered Ben advice and comfort after he lost Feedback.

In Alien Force, Ben respected Azmuth as the creator of the Omnitrix, though he was willing to go against his orders when he deemed it necessary, such as when he refused to stay out of the final battle against the Highbreed. In Vengeance of Vilgax: Part 2, Ben lost Azmuth's trust after hacking the Omnitrix.

Professor Paradox

Ben first met Professor Paradox in Paradox to stop a Trans-Dimensional Creature. Professor Paradox claimed he would help Ben save the "whole entire universe".

Paradox puts great faith in Ben, even stating to Azmuth that he was destined for greatness.

Jimmy Jones

Jimmy revealed Ben's identity to the public on Earth by linking alien sightings along with the intergalactic peace symbol all on their chests matching that of a picture of Ben ready to activate the Omnitrix and leaking it to his own personal website.

In Ultimate Alien, Ben considered him a reliable source of information. However, in Omniverse, Ben is shown to be very skeptical and dismissive of Jimmy's claims and theories.

Skurd

Initially, Ben and Skurd had a strenuous relationship, with Ben finding Skurd's snark to be annoying and Skurd finding Ben to be nothing more than a "free lunch". During their tenure together, they would frequently bicker. However, over time, the two grew closer, with both saying they owed the other their life. Ben 10,000, upon seeing Skurd for the first time in years, recalled fond memories.

Romantic

Elena Valadis

Elena Valadis is one of the Plumbers' kids and a former member of Ben's soccer team. Ben met Elena when he was 13 and had to convince his soccer teammates to let her join. She appeared in the live-action film Ben 10: Alien Swarm.

Elena also appeared in Revenge of the Swarm, where she served as the Queen of the Hive. Victor Valadis attacked Ben at night, so the trio went to her to find whether she knew anything about the Microchips.

Later, when Ben mentioned Julie, it made her angry and jealous, and she kidnapped her in order to keep Ben all to herself. They almost kissed, but her plan was revealed to Ben, and he saved Julie. Elena, being possessed by the Hive Queen, encountered Armodrillo and choked him with the Microchips.

However, she was convinced by Julie to not to do so. She willingly sacrificed herself in order save Ben, proving how much she liked him and that there was still the Elena that cared for him. Ben became sorry for her, understanding how much she had liked him. At the end of the episode, the Microchips reformed, revealing she was still alive.

Elena appeared in The Perfect Girlfriend disguised as Julie. As Julie, she tried to do everything to make Ben happy. Once Ben found out Julie was Elena, he tried to reason with her, but when the real Julie turned up, he ended up fighting her as Ultimate Echo Echo, during which she choked him with the Microchips again. Julie told Elena that if she killed him, then no one could have him. At the end of the episode, Elena retreated into the sewer, "knowing what hate feels like" indicating that she now had a hatred for Ben and promised to return.

Eunice

The Unitrix's pod was discovered in the forest at the same time Ben's team was driving for a camping trip. After encountering her, she stayed with them for the day, bonding with Ben (who had recently broken up with Julie).

The two of them were soon attacked by Sunder, who shut Eunice down and attempted to get away before Gwen and Kevin stopped him as Kevin restarted the Unitrix again. While the four of them scuffled with Sunder that led to a muddy area, Azmuth arrived, broke up the fight, and cleared things up. Following a brief argument, Ben allowed Azmuth, under a compromise, to take on Eunice as one of his assistants on Primus.

Emily

Emily briefly dated Ben, but the reason they broke up was that Ben went "hero" and left Emily on a 200-foot-tall watchtower, causing Emily to get angry at Ben.

Ester

When Ester first met Ben in Hot Stretch, they fought for the fusion device. When she realized the other Kraaho were doing evil things, she joined Ben's team. She introduced him to her friends, and they played an alien version of hockey.

Ben turned into Waterhazard and splashed everyone with water to cool them down, even when Ester told him not to. He then brought her a towel, and she blushed as he gazed at her.

She turned the water floating around him into snowflakes and ran off laughing. Rook told Ben she liked him. When she became the chief, she hugged Ben and told him she and her kind would be good neighbors. Later Ester's friends called Ben her boyfriend, and Ben at first denied it, but then excitedly asked Rook if he had a chance with her.

In Rules of Engagement, Ben offered to help clean up the Hot Spot with her. She excitedly agreed, wrapping her arms around his arm. She also stated that she is fond of Mr. Smoothy.

Sometime before Return to Forever, they went on a movie date.

In Catfight, Ester was in a double date with Ben, Rook, and Rayona. Later in the episode, she hugged Ben, and the two ran off to watch Sumo Slammers 6 3D again.

In Fight at the Museum, Ester invited Ben to the Bellwood Museum for a date, but Ben, not knowing it was a date, brought Rook since Rook enjoys museums. Ester was shown to be horrified when she heard that Ben and Kai end up together in the future Spanner comes from, while Ben himself stated there was no way that was going to happen.

Later in The Most Dangerous Game Show, feeling that Ben really was destined to be with Kai, Ester decided to let go of him. While trying to talk to Ben, who she couldn't get in contact with, Ester ultimately fell in love with Antonio. Eventually, Ester made her feelings known to Ben, breaking up on good terms, even stating she still liked him while remaining friends.

Empress Attea

In The Frogs of War: Part 2, Bullfrag infiltrated Attea's team and from the moment she saw him, Attea had a crush on him. When they met in the cell block of Plumber Headquarters, Bullfrag came up to her and started flirting, taking note that his new form showed her in a whole new light. Attea was a bit flustered, but started flirting back, only to be knocked out by a mana blast by Gwen. Bullfrag blamed his crush on Attea on his Incursean DNA.

At the end of the episode, when leaving Earth, she gave Ben the offer to come with her and "Ditch that monkey face and turn into Bullfrag again". He promptly declined. Attea gave him a kiss to the back of his head with her long tongue, winked, and took off.

She later decided that Ben was her only option for a mate in Catfight. However, Ben later convinced her that she was capable of ruling on her own.

Drew Saturday

In T.G.I.S., Ben gained a crush on Drew Saturday the minute he saw her. She responded to Ben saying, "right back at ya". When Doc told Ben, Rook, Zak, and Fisk that Dr. Animo and his Chupacabra army were attacking Mr. Baumann's store, Drew offered to stay behind to look after the petrified Gilford Bromley.

Ben, though, suggested that Rook stay behind, and Drew come with him, telling them that they might need her medical expertise. Later, when Ben, Rook, Zak, and Fisk arrived at the airship to stop V.V. Argost and his army of cryptids, Doc and Drew revealed themselves and told them that they escaped moments before Argost showed up. Ben then instantly told Drew that he was happy that she was okay, causing Zak to remind him that Doc was okay too. At the end of the episode, Ben told Zak how it was a pleasure to work with him and his mom. He then took a photo with Zak, Doc, Drew, and Fisk as Four Arms.

Another shot. Realy early in the "season."

"Hi-tech" materials are non bulky and surprisingly warm.

Friend Allan suggested an impromptu rocket out to Piha to do some biz with friends out there, so I put on the Silkbody sleeved dress, and then the longer Silkbody dress made from their mens crew top and their swing skirt, and then the dress I recently made from the "Kathmandu" trecking outfit marino sleeveless "undershirt" and the polyesta skirt from a dress from Victoria Hill.

Performed excellently in the surf.

No prob with the season.

In this shot I had taken my hair out and returned to the "camp" and got my hat.

Chapter One.. Nobody's Home...The Man In The White Clapboard House

About seven years ago, an older man, older than myself at that time, I would have been closer to sixty than fifty headed my way on Water Street below Simcoe. He was riding an old style fixed gear nineteen sixties bicycle with a large black metal grocery delivery basket attached to the front fork and handlebars. The carriage held two layers of empty worn cardboard boxes and it was lined with a piece of old newspaper, the Examiner circa Dec 05, 1990. The man is one of the curious folks for this town of Peterborough, his dress was quite unusual, his thick wide whale brown corduroy pants were held tight at the ankles as they were tucked into his socks. The waist of those trousers were held tight with a thin black gentlemen’s belt and the steel part of the once gold coloured buckle protruded through a hand made hole poked with an improvised awl several spots back from the last factory manufactured hole. Tucked into the pants was a sooty grey sweater with a short zipper at the neck where one could see an undershirt, grey as well from wear and soot. On top of his head lie a rolled up toque possibly made of wool it too was soot darkened like the other clothes. His feet bore a pair of dark black leather shoes worn in places, with tattered laces, I supposed from using the shoes to help stop the bicycle whose brake system was the old type where one pedaled backwards to engage the brake. Like his clothes that were worn and dirty, smelling of soot, his unshaven face carried a weeks worth of grey stubble and his ruddy face also carried a pile of soot he looked a bit like a racoon, a set of piercing blue eyes eyed me up and down. I immediately thought he resembled a collier worker from our Nova Scotia coal mines or a Welsh actor from the old black and white film titled How Green Was My Valley.

As he stopped for the red light I saw my chance to speak with him, an act that often took more courage than I cared to display for this function of photography, however I did know that in the past my success at taking pictures lie in my ability to penetrate the layers of social etiquette and barge head first into a new situation.

This situation was like the others, a challenge of sorts. My first words were of this nature, “Excuse me sir, good day to you would you allow me to take a photograph of you on your bicycle?” He might as well of spat at me cause he looked back at me at his side with disdain, it did not take him long to lash out, “Why do you want to take my picture?” the words were said in an almost mocking tone. I didn’t have a rehearsed answer so I just said what came to mind, “Well, I’m a photographer and I find you to present yourself as a person who would make for an interesting photo.” He looked at me, again with disdain and drove off, up Water Street where he soon disappeared in the bit of evening traffic, weaving steadily in the left hand lane of the darkening one way street, his boney frame protruding at times through the thick sweater giving the impression of a strong individual, quite focused on the task at hand.

A year later while making a bicycle query at the bike shop on Aylmer Street I spotted the coal miner mans metal carriage adorned bicycle amidst the myriad of other bikes for repair in the shop. The shop owner, Dave let out a small sly grin when I asked where the owner of that bike was. I didn’t know he‘d been a customer for years, I should have, as Dave’s shop called Spokes and Pedals was that type of store. Not a fancy place with music playing or oak display cases like some of the modern bicycle repair shops. No Dave’s was, well it was just a plain old bike shop with piles of bikes on the floor and hanging from the rafters, most of whose handlebars and bike pedals had been turned in to maximize space. In the repair area Dave and his wife Susan adeptly analyzed a bikes problem, the repair bike was hung in the old fashion way using rubber bike tubes hooked to the ceiling, a tube for the handlebars, a tube for the seat post another tube to direct the bike out of the way when a paying customer came into the dark crowded shop to be greeted by the nice Bike Lady, or Dave if she was off somewhere.

We’d been shopping there for over fifteen years. Once we discovered the stores generous policy that granted us the ability to trade in the kids old bikes for a discount when they outgrew them. We became regular customers, I suppose we traded in over a half dozen pairs of bikes over the years. Never once did we require a repair, the bikes were always in year old condition and the shopkeepers were keen to take them in on trade which brought the price of their new Raleigh bikes down to a reasonable price point, one we could live with. Most times, Julie and I would purchase bikes for the kids on our own which can be difficult getting the correct size, however we never once had to return a bike. When at times we’d struggle with decisions on which bike to buy, Dave whose ears were always peeled would step into the conversation assisting Susan who gave way to his more aggressive approach to bike selling. In the end we took both their advices and left the shop with new bikes, bright shiny new bikes.

Now and then, I’d require a horn or bell or tube to replace in a flat tire, that’s funny eh, we call it a flat tire when the tube is punctured, and it was always an interesting experience in the bicycle shop, getting free advice on these parts, and the same thing would always happen, Dave would butt in on the conversation, perhaps to speed things along. Susan would go back to tightening handlebars with the multi tool she kept in her pocket, smiling meekly as she parted company and allowing Dave to make the sale. All of the stores accessories were ingeniously displayed on the beams and walls of the dark shop. There was a display of horns and bells, another display of dust covered air pumps, yet another darkened corner of the space behind the corner displayed a variety of fenders. Tire tubes were much more reasonably priced than in other shops, maybe because they did not come in boxes just tied with an elastic band, oh they still had that feeling to them, that feeling of invisible baby powder and that new tube smell, the smell of rubber trees in Borneo.

I have to admit it is more fun to shop in a store that has a more vibrant display of products, but at the same time I’m drawn to the diverse adventure of entering that particular shop. In a way its like an old fashioned honour system whereas you spend your money where your parents shopped, which is actually quite ridiculous as our parents came from other cities, Toronto and Montreal they’d never been in the shop. The correct words escape me at this moment, branded, that’s what modern analysts would call this, branding and that also is ridiculous. Devoted comes close in description, so does satisfied, it will come to me. Loyalty, that’s it. Not the false loyalty that some larger corporations impress upon you, like car manufacturers or audio system component manufacturers who saturate your mind with images of their products and whose salesmen shake your hand and give you cheap pens and call from time to time seeing how things are, no I mean True Loyalty, loyalty gained by old fashioned good service and a pleasing manner with no ties attached to future sales. One time I read that the Catholic church was the first corporation, the model for corporations, I thought long and hard on that one as it had been written by a pro Muslim writer Malise Ruthven after the 9/11 events and well he might be right although one would have to study the history of tithing and the history of payments to determine the validity of the statement neither of which study would interest me at this time.

On March 9, 2009 a Sunday, I was browsing at Alberts Steel and Scrap Yard on Bethune Street, across the street from the rear of the city library. It was a bright warmish early spring day. Actually I ran into two old friends, acquaintances from the Otonabee area, Kathy Forgie and Clifford Ballantine. We stood there in the sun chewing the fat about various literary pursuits, Kathy was the person who had introduced me to E.Annie Proulx’s book The Shipping News set mostly in Newfoundland. Across the narrow road from them the man on the bike from years earlier, the dirty man, began to sort through the cache of goods thrown out at the blue steel bins belonging to Norm Albert. As it was a Sunday there were many objects that did not fit the category of metal. Unfortunately there were numerous other worn household goods tossed by the bins by folk, to lazy to place the items in their own home garbage for fear the city garbage trucks would not take them. Oh, you know the kind of stuff, blinds and shutters and couches and busted vacuums cleaners and treadmills and those cheap mdf board tv stands and tvs, all kinds of tvs and place settings no longer needed and stuff, just piles of stuff. Some of it was steel which was the draw for me as I was collecting parts for bikes, to fix bikes and well parts are expensive to buy so getting free parts is the best, at least the best for me. And here he was, the coal miner man, doing exactly what I was doing, scrounging for stuff. I had to bid a hasty so long to my friends Cliff and Kathy who understood.

I introduced myself, for the second time in life, and this time, the man responded rather cordially, with a toothless grin shining through his soot stained face. He hadn’t changed since my last encounter a few years back, he was actually still wearing the same costume as that day on Water St when he turned my advances for a photograph down. He said, “my name’s Fred Maybee and I live at 342 Downie Street.” Fred began to volunteer a volume of unsolicited historical information on his life, as if in rote. I listened intently, though not fully understanding the meaning of the dates he was summonsing from inside his head and excitedly relaying to me, as if they had to be spoken, as if he could not contain the information any longer, as if he was showing off to some degree his uncanny ability to recall, in perfect detail events from thirty years ago, I think I was at that moment hypnotized by this ability of his, a degree of autism.

He shut up long enough for me to capture his image, twice, using a piece of crap camera phone, the photos were to be a catalyst so to speak, a spark in my photo journey that would eventually lead to an exhibition of some photo work I’d been collecting of other unusual souls whose lives I’d been fortunate to document somewhat with a lens over the previous couple of decades. Here I was, again, collecting people. By the end of our conversation, I knew where Fred lived, how long he had lived there, when his mother and father had died, where his dad had worked, the GE plant, what religion his mother practiced, Roman Catholic, the name of his sibling Caryl an adopted step sister, when Freds birthday was and exactly to the day how old he was 68. My head was bulging with the knowledge, as innate as it was of Freds world. For some reason the stars had aligned themselves and put us together, to be friends for some time, to share a bit of this world, it is an odd sense I have of these matters, matters that I am not totally convinced were not designed elsewhere, by others. Deities, perhaps, spirits, for sure. Not mere coincidence.

The reason I was at the bins on Bethune Street that day adds some significance to the story. To be truthful, I was at the end of my shift at the Youth Emergency Shelter where I was acting caretaker/repairperson for six weekends, part of the sentence I was serving in the community for growing medical marijuana. Many scoff at the term, medical marijuana, although my clients don’t, let me list a few, not their names of course but their malaises. One lady has fybramylagia without gange she would not eat, a male suffers from intense psychological trauma ever since his arm was shredded in a conveyor belt ten years hence, another lady twitches, at times uncontrollably as a result of her Parkinsons, some men, educators, use the sweet herb to combat their penchant for alcohol, their wives quite happy that they have found another interest, another male suffers from back seizures, I could go on, but except for one, all my clients fall into the medical marijuana category. (I had one addict for a client), a young man who required the most potent herb available, he just loved getting high, leaving his mind behind. One night, I dropped off an order, to his home, he was playing a guitar game on a big TV screen, Guitar Hero and I could see how engrossed he was in this endeavour, he was, according to himself quite good at it, he offered to play backup on a Led Zeppelin song, at which he seemed to play along, in tune, making all the gestures the lead guitarist of the band would, and touching some place on his electronic guitar at the same time the chord was being played through the speakers, after the song ended, there was a score shown on the monitor and he noted, ‘I did pretty good, I only missed two chords’. You had to be there. Exactly which category of medicinal need this fellow falls into eludes me, though I have been told that at a very young age he was observed taking a hit on the hookah pipe his parents passed around the music room, circa 1975 or thereabouts.)

Back at Albert’s Bins. To seal my new relationship with Fred, I opened the trunk of the car and handed him the four beer bottles I’d picked up while grooming the grounds at the shelter that morning. He looked at me with great pleasure, ‘you’re giving those to me’ he said, part in question and part in gratitude. A small warm smile crossed his face. I left to return to the shelter for another hour when my self imposed shift would unofficially finish. While one is serving a sentence in the community, they are under the administration of the prison from which their sentence was commuted, in this case the Lindsay Correctional Facility. There was no worry that the prison would actually have the staff to check up on your whereabouts while you were at your assignment. Only once during my shifts did someone actually call to see that I had shown up for work, and that person was a volunteer at a prisoner advocate centre in the province. A convicted prisoner serving their sentence on weekends will find that their sentence actually commences on Friday nights and runs until Monday morning. A lieutenant at the prison in Lindsay actually called our home around 10 PM to see that I was indeed at home as he had signed me in at the prison only two hours earlier. He was very polite and almost apologetic for calling at such a late hour. One could easily loose their privilege of serving the sentence in the community if they were found away from home except for purposes of the community placement, no exceptions were allowed. A degree of self discipline was required and I found it awkward, applying this discipline to my usual routine of browsing in places like the Home Depot, particularly the day I ran into my probation officer, who turned a blind eye to my indiscrete location.

The sentence for growing marijuana was fourty five days incarceration, to be served on weekends at the Lindsay Correctional Centre (which after one solemn weekend was changed to time in the community) and 18 months of probation. I visited my probation officer four times over a period of four months, at which time she stated, ‘you will no longer have to report to me in person, I’ve got more serious situations that require my attention,’ essentially I was put on the probationary honour system for the next year, no one ever called again.

Fred’s photographs taken that day March 8, 2009, at the bins on Bethune Street were of the lowest quality. They were sent to my home computer from the cell phone that took the pictures. This act in itself is a technical challenge for me to have accomplished, one must choose a mode of sending and then use their pudgy fingertips to type in an internet address and find the word send, then hit the word send and hope that the message with the file attachment reaches the intended destination. In this case it worked. On Monday, the 9th of March, I waded into uncharted waters and began the email send outs to a variety of recipients (a hundred plus folk) titled for the most part as Charlie’s People, there would be 17 send outs in all of more than fourty characters culminating in November with a professional looking exhibit at the Dreams of Beans Coffee Shop and Gallery, the exhibit carried the lofty title Dark Hallways and Other Lost Places in my Soul, Candid Reflections on the Fringes of Town, but to me the images are just simply, Charlie’s People.

That first send out with Fred’s image received a few interesting responses. Washboard Hank a musician wrote back with words to the effect, ‘one time I seen Fred driving up Charlotte Street with a TV in his bicycle carrier, I asked him what the score in the ballgame was? It went right over Freds head.’ Another friend, a computer guy named Ken said, ‘don’t let Fred’s impoverished looks deceive you, one time in a bank I was standing in the line, behind him and he was putting up quite a squawk about the fact he now had to pay for cheques. I made an offer to the branch manager that I would cover the cost of his cheques. The manager discreetly took me aside and whispered in my ear, ‘Fred has more money than you and I will ever see.’

I was beginning to get some idea of who Fred was. The house on Downie Street caught my attentions shortly after my meeting Fred and I recall driving by the home and giving it more than the usual cursory glance. I’ve since learned that the house is of historic significance and once a few years back was written up in an Architectural column of the Peterborough Examiner. The home is constructed in a fashion called Stacked Plank, a term I am not familiar with. According to Fred the home was his Uncles a postman on his mother Eleanors side, his last name was Grisdale and I believe Fred dates the house to the 1850s, Fred has actually recited to me the year his Uncle retired from the Post Office and the amount of his pension, there’s that memory of Freds kicking in whenever it can.

That spring and summer, I would have Fred ‘sightings’ as he road his bike about town. One morning I caught him in motion, on the bicycle as it passed the Cheese Shop on Brock Street, a month later I spotted his bike at the brightly decorated gay couples house beside the laneway where the Armouries and PCVS High School end. Across the street a shelter called the Our Space operated in the basement of the old Legion, the upstairs of the big three storey cream coloured stucco walled building housed the local mens shelter, known as the Brock Mission. I went in and followed the noise downstairs, there was Fred, at a large table, spilling soup all over his thick wool sweater, casually chewing the vegetable matter from the spoon, a large mug of tea and some cookies for later sitting on the table beside his arms. He greeted me with a ‘Hello, it’s you, the fellow I spoke with on March the 9th over by Albert’s Bins, behind the library.’ By this time I was well into the email send outs and I was on a daily search for new subjects to document. I’d captured excellent images of Bongo Dave at his bench, and Mel Webb in his wheelchair wrapped in winter clothing at Mel’s Corner Simcoe and George and Perc McCarrell as he pulled the grocery shopping cart decorated with NDP placards that he used for delivering the local free paper as he walked along Murray Street across from the St. Vincent DePaul store.

The series had inadvertently turned into a job, one I enjoyed, planning the photos, taking the images and writing the script, it evolved from somewhere inside of me, it was as if the marijuana charges had created this situation where I may have felt it necessary to ‘justify my existence’ to a wider selection of people, I always say, ‘from bad comes good.’ At an early junction in the Charlie’s People send outs I asked if anyone was displeased receiving the weekly email with photo attachments to just ask to be taken off the list, two asked out of a total of I’m guessing here, a hundred and twenty five, one nice lady, the wife of a cousin just said she didn’t like these types of emails and another a professor at U of T said his slow internet connection got jammed up on bigger files. My mind began to assemble a cast choosing from archival photographs of interesting folk who graced the streets of Peterborough over the past two decades and including the folk whom I’d been observing more recently, showing Fred’s photos to the public certainly was the catalyst for the series. Of all the images, the photos of Fred were the poorest quality, by far, yet they were the roots, the beginning of an interesting photojournalistic journey, that would continue to grow and be fertile long after the photos had been sent. Some of the photos would be seen at City Hall, some in Churches, yet others at public meetings in the local Library, coinciding with the release of the photos were some grim statistics, over the next year five of the characters portrayed in the series would die. For what it’s worth, these photos brought me a degree of acclaim in the community, my intentions to ‘Justify my Existence’ was being achieved.

On the 8th of April I watched as Fred rode his bicycle down Brock Street past the Cheese Shop, he was quite focused and intent on reaching his destination. I quickly snapped three images. Less than a month later we met again, this time on Murray Street near the Murray Street Baptist Church. I got out of my car and pulled him over and spoke with him and asked him if he would pose for photos. We walked over to a grey stone wall of the church where I took several photos. When I got home and put the images into the computer I realized that there was a substance, a chocolate coloured smear around Freds mouth, he had probably just had a meal at one of the local churches, I’m guessing it was the Saturday lunch at St John’s Anglican Church. When I asked where he was heading he pointed towards the old Legion building and muttered, the Warming Room. He had remembered me. A few weeks went by when I spotted his bicycle in the Armoury laneway again. I parked the car and entered the Warming Room where I found Fred sitting at a banquet table, a bowl of soup in front of him and some crusts of bread, he greeted me in his likeable tone, ‘hellooo, I remember you, you’re that guy who takes photographs of people.’ I sat down and conversed for some time while I took in my surroundings.

There would have been twenty or so folk in the room of varying ages raging from sixteen to seventy. The room was large and comfortable with odd bits and pieces of furniture scattered here and there, handmade tapestry quilts adorned the walls, in one corner an office had been set up complete with a phone, desk, a computer and the usual paraphernalia. On the back wall a makeshift kitchen was manned by two or three volunteers who kept busy adding to a big pot of food on a stove. Large coffee urns were set up on a table alongside a tray that held an assortment of cups and spoons. Beside the urns a tray held several types of bread, a lone knife could be seen sticking out of a half filled jar of peanut butter. Groups of folks were separated by the tables they chose to sit at. One group was busy making art, a thin pleasant voiced middle aged woman was instructing them. Some folk played dominoes and their animated voices were louder than the others, in particular the voice of ‘the little guy Primrose’ who sported a Sai Baba style hairdo, his grin extended past the normal parameters. I was curious. An old piano sat in one corner, adjacent to it there was a homemade cloth of yellow that had been signed by a number of folk, I learned that this was the blanket which had belonged to one of the men who had died recently in the creek behind the beer store. A group sat on the couches, some sat alone gazing at nothing. It was midday but it could have been anytime, on any day of any year.

Z: *scoops Suki up in a bear hug* "Hey, Suks! Man, it's good to see you! You look righteous, and *inhales deeply* you smell like home."

Suki: *buries face in Z's chest* "Sun, salt, sweat--"

Z: "And, jasmine.

Suki: "You should have come home for Christmas, Zin! You missed epic surf all week! It was pure sex everyday!"

Z: *rests chin on the top of Suki's head* "We'll come down for Spring Break, okay? I'll catch some waves then."

Suki: *squeezes Z hard* "Okay."

Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are now fully deboxed. They are placed back on the display stand. Rapunzel is standing, supported by the built-in doll stand. Rather than place Flynn back on his doll stand, I stood him up on his own, behind Rapunzel's right side. This is so that Rapunzel could face forward, while not completely blocking the view of Flynn. I also tried to put them in a more romantic pose by having Flynn helping Rapunzel hold the lantern up. Flynn's other hand is on Rapunzel's waist. They are both looking straight ahead, but definitely have a connection with each other.

On October 7, Yasmin Porat left the music festival at Re'im, and survived the massacre at Kibbutz Be'eri, to be held hostage in the kibbutz cafeteria with another 15 people.

Together with journalists from the Hebrew website Zman Emet, Porat returned to the kibbutz, reliving the course of that horrific day and recounting how a terrorist who decided to turn himself in ended up saving her life.

Porat had arrived at the music festival just after midnight on October 7. At 6:!5 in the morning, she went to her car to take a break and refresh herself. While she was in the car, rockets started flying over her head, and she called out to her partner, Tal, to get in the car: "We're getting out of here."

"We were in the first 10-20 cars to leave the party," she said. Shortly after they left the party, they passed a bomb shelter on the side of the road. While Tal wanted to go into it, Porat saw terrorists breach the fence and start firing indiscriminately. She called Tal and they sped towards Kibbutz Be'eri, where they knocked on three doors before friends let them in and offered them coffee and breakfast.

At some point, after receiving WhatsApp messages about a terrorist infiltration into the kibbutz, Hadas Dagan, Porat's friend, said, "I think it's time we went into the safe room."

Several hours later, in the early afternoon, the group started hearing the terrorists nearby: shouts in Arabic, shooting, and explosions.

"I was sure I wasn't going to make it out alive," she said, recalling how she sent messages to her children, telling her that she loved them and to stick together.

Porat also explained how the myth that 50 hostages were being held in Be'eri's cafeteria was born: In a phone call with the police, she was forced by the terrorists to say that there were 50 hostages in the cafeteria, instead of 15.

Suheib abu Amar, an Israeli Arab, was kidnapped from the music festival and brought to Be'eri. "He was with them, cooperating with them," she said. "He was my communication. I spoke with him and he translated everything for Hassan," the terrorist leader.

At some point, the terrorists asked for Porat's phone, and asked if she has connections with the police.

"He called 100 (the police hotline - ed.), Hassan," she said, explaining that the terrorists wanted an escape route together with the hostages, to allow the terrorists to escape to Gaza. "They were sure that the military was already surrounding everything."

In her phone call, Porat said that the terrorists "want a ceasefire, they want to release us, the hostages, and they want to come out of here in peace." Ordered to "exaggerate" the number of hostages, she was told, "50, 50," and told that number to the police.

There were three consecutive phone calls to the police, Porat added. "At that stage I was still optimistic,: she said. "They asked me where I was and I said 'under the cafeteria,' and they heard 'the cafeteria.' And that's how the scene that never happened, of 40-50 hostages in the cafeteria, was created."

Hassan wanted to surrender, "and the police told him how to do it." At one point, Hassan called Porat, "he was in underwear and an undershirt," and she ran over to him. "He pulled me close to him and embraced me, and then showed me with actions that we are getting out of there. He took me out."

As she ran, Porat saw Tal lying on the ground and said, "Tal, are you okay?" and he raised his head and said he was, "and then he put his head back on the ground." Porat continued running with Hassan, and shouted to the line of police officers, "Don't shoot, don't shoot." They assured her that they would not.

A few minutes later, she understood what was happening and ran from Hassan to the police.

"People tell me that G-d took me out of there with tweezers. And that's exactly what happened," she said.

Of the 15 hostages, only Porat and Dagan survived. Porat's partner, Tal, was murdered together with the other hostages.

“A skilled archer who grew up in the Remnant Valley, Sofia confronts Lara head-on when they first meet in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Dressed in regal Remnant attire, Sofia wears a green long sleeve linen undershirt with stitched leather sleeves made of deer hide and gold Byzantine embroidery on the collar. Her hair bands, buckles, and bracer are made of gold and etched with Byzantine symbols. Brown leather straps and belts rest along her waist, above a sleeveless deer leather armor and chain mail skirt. For extra protection and warmth, she adds a brown bear hide underskirt, paired with leather pants, boots, wraps and gloves. Tan linen straps wrap around her left arm and leg, and act as tourniquets for wounds sustained in battle. “

Freas gives us a dockyard Hercules caught in the act of unguarded kindness, hanging Christmas stockings on a beam marked with the cryptic “DXY.” The key is that Freas loved ironic portraits—figures who look one way but behave in a way that subverts the stereotype. The tattoos, the undershirt, the easy grin—every detail insists on toughness—yet the toys he tucks away are chosen with the care of a favorite uncle.

The title, “The Conservative,” is Freas’s wink and a reminder that the most traditional virtues are sometimes found in the least traditional packages. Nothing here illustrates a story inside the issue. Instead, the cover stands alone as a character study, a holiday fable smuggled into a science fiction magazine.

“DXY” offers no official decoding, but its industrial lettering hints at a ship’s compartment or barracks post—an unlikely place for stockings, which only sharpens the charm. Freas invites us to imagine the unseen crew who will find them, and the quiet satisfaction of the man who hung them.

A small masterpiece of mid century sentiment, this cover shows Freas at his most generous – celebrating humanity by giving us a man who is, in every sense, larger than life and softer than he looks. Freas did this often—he liked characters who were big, rough, and secretly soft hearted. This cover is one of his purest examples.

This Suzume-Odori dance, sparrow dance ,was performed by seven maikos from Gionkobu on the stage of Yasaka Shrine.

Their dance was fantastic. Also their unique outfit was very beautiful.

A sparrow and a design of the bamboo are to the white yukata(Japanese summer kimono).

A white sparrow is drawn on the red juban (undershirt of kimono).

And they put on the unique sedge hat of the bent frame.

The dancers wear the same yukata ,Japanese summer kimono, over a red juban, undershirt for kimono.

You can see the white sleeve of yukata under the sleeve of red juban.

Sometimes we can see this combination at the other dance performance.

4 months postpartum.

I've started to feel good about myself again. Not wearing the spanx with jeans. I'm down to my size 6 pre baby jeans, and they only fit snug fresh out of the dryer, otherwise they are a bit baggy... and actually had my grandma take in the size 8's.

This is an undershirt, i'm still uncomfortable in really really clingy tops, was looking through some of the clothes before I had A... and WOW. I dressed like a skank. HA.

This is before we went to the library and ran some errands today. The girls are watching Sesame Street, well A is watching Sesame Street while C is screaming and kicking her feet in the bouncer.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: I really love the variety of clothes these dolls come with. I like how casual these outfits are. They are middle of the road quality, for the most part. It's all pretty decently made but nothing is top notch. However, they are really fun. I really like how the doll was sold wearing the tank and plain white shorts. The shirt can be used as an undershirt or as just a tank top. The shorts...well, honestly they look more like underwear than anything else. The silver shorts are really fun, very sporty. Alex (that is what I named my doll) could wear them as a sports uniform or just as casual clothes. The striped shirt is really cool too. It looks a little more formal and masculine, but a girl could wear it too. I love the rainbow colors and the faux pocket. The jeans are awesome! I love how they look distressed. They also have faux pockets and a fake snap/button just like the skirt has. The camo skirt is one of my favorite items here. I love how it has the details--the faux pockets, the little snap/button, and the subtle fringe. The print rocks! I put it on my doll right away, paired with my favorite item--the zebra top! I love the top. It is so convenient that I was already planning on doing a zoo themed photo for Dolly Diaries and this happened to sport a zebra. The jacket is also pretty awesome. I tried it with the jeans and white tank, but it also looks great with the zebra top and camo skirt. I love the faux zipper and the faux fur! I love how Alex came with three pairs of shoes. I love the yellow and black loafers. They are so cute and unique! The sneakers are actually quite nice quality and are a really fun color. The sandals are awesome too. They are so cute on Alex's feet. The red hat is probably the best quality piece. It's really cute on Alex! The sunglasses are a lot of fun too. I like how these dolls all come with wigs. This wig is really high quality. I'm pretty sure it's saran.

Me in a non-conspicuous area outside the Enlisted Men's Club (having an open beer outside the club was a no-no). The loud attire is sort of a protest against station clothing regulations. Socks with sandals were *required*. You were *not* allowed to wear sandals and/or shorts off base. An undershirt was required (in the tropics!).

Lovely Ellana~ in marron glace. Looking absolutely amazing in their new outfit.
