Today Winky and I went for a walk on the beach...she is really a good dog when I stop to take photos, always seems to sense she needs to be still and patient.. Which is amazing since the rest of the time, she always wants my undivided attention!
This week has been a rough one for me so forgive me if I don't comment tonight..I am in a blue mood and haven't had much energy to get out and do much shooting after work. .This divorce I am going through hasn't been easy...but once it is over I look forward to getting on with my life because I know things will get better and I do a lot of praying!
I am so thankful for my supportive friends and my family, and also the support I have experienced with the wonderful friends here on Flickr!

The statue called 'Unconditional Surrender' is on the other side of the harbor from where we stayed. It was made after the famous photo that was taken in Times Square on V-J Day in 1945.As you can see it is HUGE! I have better photos of it, without people, with a better background of the ship "Midway' in the harbor, but decided this one was the one to post. Check out where that little boy is looking! hehe!
The United States were forced out of desperation to detonate two nuclear weapons over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 and 9 August 1945, respectively to stop Japanese warmongers hell-bent on becoming a great power at all costs; should the USA or the WEST detonate similar devices on the "Kremlin" to stop Putin wiping us all off the face of the earth with his evil nuclear weapons from hell?
My own thoughts:
NO ONE WOULD ACCEPT THAT THIS IS THE WAY TO GO HERE! BUT IF THIS WAS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP A MADMAN FROM BURNING US ALL TO THE GROUND THEN PERHAPS “A KNOCK OUT BLOW TO THE KREMLIN’ WOULD BRING THE RICH RUSSIAN ELITE TO THEIR SENSES AND OUT OF THEIR HIDE-OUTS TO SIGN UN UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER {the rich Russian elite is the ruling class calling the shots. Putin is their puppet kissing their ass at every opportunity to stay in power}
It’s clear that Putin’s superiority is in his military capability not in his intelligence or skills in diplomacy.-Putin is a professional spy excelling in silencing his critics with “nerve agents” and force
It’s clear that Homo Sapiens must evolve into a different species capable of resolving conflicts without resorting to military brute force

Unconditional Surrender ("Kiss") Statue & USS Midway

A quick search for a Memorial Day-appropriate photo not already used didn't turn up much, and today's rainy weather didn't inspire me to go out for a new shot. This photo from our December trip to California celebrates the end of World War II, and should remind us of the sacrifices so many have made in that and other wars. A good breeze displayed the U.S. flag nicely against the blue sky.
The 25-foot statue "Unconditional Surrender" (aka the Kiss Statue) by Seward Johnson, resembles the famous Alfred Eisenstadt photo, "V-J Day in Times Square" but is said to be based on someone else's photo from that day, which marked the end of World War II. According to information on line, the statue is controversial, as many feel it lacks artistic merit and grace. (The harsh afternoon light surely doesn't help the statue's appearance.) The initial statue was placed in Tuna Harbor Park, property of San Diego Unified Port District, in 2007, and three members of the SDUPD board resigned over the decision to erect this permanent, bronze statue in 2013. Beyond the statue is USS Midway, active 1945-92 but now berthed off North Harbor Drive adjacent to Tuna Harbor Park; it has been a museum since June 2004. Tuna Harbor Park also has a monument to Bob Hope's entertaining U.S. troops in World War II and beyond.

Eduardo Kobra, a street artist from Sao Paulo, Brasil, based this painting upon the iconic photograph "V-J Day in Times Square" by Alfred Eisenstaedt. I have previously posted an image of the 25-foot tall sculpture "Unconditional Surrender" by Seward Johnson in Sarasota, Florida, based on a similar original photo by Victor Jorgensen of the same couple's kiss. I have re-posted that image below.

Also, per suggestions I did do some Nnenn-style modding, with tape on the windshield/hinge bricks and a cut/sanded 1x1 brick on the end of the gun to mirror the angle of the gun.
Named after General Grant's nickname the Unconditional Surrender was the Union's response to the Confederated Colonies' "Grey Ghost." Like the Ghost, the U.S. was armed with a weapon designed to pierce the armor on capitol ships.
Fun Fact: I grew up in Grant County, Oregon, named after the Civil War General. It seemed the logical counterpart to John "Grey Ghost" Mosby.
Pets are loyal, many times forced to be patient in a flat, waiting for people to go back home and play with them; after the whole day alone. It is not about the love we have for them, but also about the unconditional love they demonstrate for us

Back Story ..........
First I want to thank everybody who has continued to support us both through your words and through your generous donations.
Your unconditional help is what keeps this program alive. Actually it's what keeps the many dogs we maintain alive, day after day, week after week, year after year. For that we thank all of you ...;-)
As you can see I've come up for air, step by step things will continue to return to normal. Well, normal in our world anyway.
Early morning Mr Brown and Mama were fed, soon after The Leroy Crew was fed too.
No# 1 wife still has me on a short leash, we arrived by car, not by scooter. Doctors want to see me again tomorrow at a hospital many hours away from our place, I'm not happy with that. To much poking and prodding followed up with a bunch of big words. .. ;-(
Lots of monkeys invading The Dog Palace, Mama wanted me to follow her to the roof . No# 1 gave me permission to go play as long as I stayed away from the edge , I tried ....
After about 20 minutes I spot Mr Brown, he too wanted to be with us up on the roof. This surprised me big time !
I was sitting there watching him use his nose as well as his ears. Blew me away how badly he wanted to be in on the action. Mr B tip toed gingerly across all the broken cement an boards while zeroing in on my voice.Took his time but eventually he crashed into my legs and sat down, Mama continued to chase monkeys .. ;-)
Mr B was so happy he laid his big head in my lap while sitting and didn't move for the longest time.
When it was time to go both Mama and I helped Mr B navigate his way over to the steps leading down to the 2nd floor.
Next photo shows Mama stopping Mr B before heading down said stairs.
All in all it was a productive trip with plans to get back on schedule in the near future.

The 25-foot installation — officially known as “Unconditional Surrender” — recreates the famous embrace between a sailor and a nurse celebrating the end of World War II in New York’s Times Square in 1945.
I love his nose, I love his white fur, I love him so much, his personality is beyond any other dog I've known.... I love my Fozzie boy to the moon and back!

On 7 October 2023, Hamas and other armed groups launched indiscriminate rockets and sent fighters into southern Israel and committed war crimes, such as deliberate mass killings of civilians and hostage taking.
According to Israeli authorities, around 1,200 people were killed. Amnesty International has called for Hamas and other armed groups to be held accountable for deliberate killings, abductions and indiscriminate attacks.
Armed groups took 250 people hostage, approximately 225 civilians and 25 soldiers. To date 131 civilian hostages and military captives have been released (or their bodies recovered)- five were released unconditionally and 104 as part of a hostage and prisoner exchange deal during a one-week truce in November 2023.
At least 43 hostages have been confirmed by Israeli authorities to have died either on 7 October or subsequently, in different circumstances.
Six civilians and one soldier were returned by the Israeli military. The remaining hostages include nine civilian women and two very young children, aged one and four years old (along with their mother) and multiple men, including older men and foreign nationals.
According to media reports and information from the Hostages and Missing Families Forum Hamas announced in November that the two children and their mother were killed in Israeli air strikes.
Amnesty International has consistently demanded the immediate release of all civilian hostages.
