I always look forward to Spring. New life is everywhere and the air has a freshness and sweet smell of the flowering blooms. It's moments like this that I can sit back and reflect how special life is for all creatures.

I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.
I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!
thx, stampolina
For the case you wanna send also stamps - it is possible. (...I'm pretty sure you'll see these stamps on this photostream on flickr :) thx!

following info 'bout this stamp-theme with friendly acceptance by austrian post:
150th Anniversary of the Birth of Gustav Mahler
Gustav Mahler (1860 – 1911) is regarded as the genius of the fin de siècle and the precursor of modern music. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth, the Austrian Post Office is issuing a commemorative in honour of this great composer.
A native of Bohemia, Gustav Mahler began studying composition and the piano at the Vienna conservatory at the young age of 15. This highly talented musician, who had previously already given a concert as a pianist at the tender age of 10, soon started gathering prizes for his performances and compositions. He also registered at the University for courses in philosophy, history and music aesthetics, read widely and attended the courses offered by Anton Bruckner in the theory of harmony. After a number of years of short-lived posts at Ljubljana, Olomouc, Prague, Leipzig, Budapest and Hamburg, Mahler was called to the renowned Vienna Opera House, initially as Kapellmeister but later appointed by the Emperor Franz Joseph as conductor. But first Mahler had had to overcome one obstacle to his appointment, his Jewish faith, and converted to Catholicism.
The age of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries was an age of upheaval, with a mood that fluctuated between optimism and depression, between euphoria about the future and Weltschmerz, between renewal and decadence. Mahler’s appointment as director of the Imperial Opera House also meant the start of a new era for this institution. Driven by an unconditional striving for perfection, Mahler began a series of fundamental reforms. In contrast, however, his compositions were given a generally unfriendly reception by the Viennese critics, including his first two symphonies in 1899. Abroad, however, above all in Germany, Holland and France, Mahler’s reputation grew rapidly.
His view of the world was dominated by theories of natural religion and philosophy, which were also reflected in his music and seemed to touch the nerve of the age. His greatest admirers included Arnold Schönberg, Alban Berg, Anton Webern, Gustav Klimt, Stefan Zweig, Adolf Loos and Thomas Mann, whose “Death in Venice” was a literary monument to the composer. Mahler’s period as opera house conductor in Vienna ended in 1907, a year that also brought much suffering to the Mahler family. His eldest daughter died of diphtheria, and he himself was informed about his own heart condition. He resigned as conductor, taking leave of Vienna with a performance of his Second Symphony on 24.11.1907. Mahler spent the next few years moving backwards and forwards between New York and Vienna, conducting in America in the winter months, giving concert tours of Europe and working on his compositions during the summer. Gustav Mahler died on 18 May 1911 in Vienna, but his great music continues to delight the public even today.
I don't know why, but apart from representing a scene from the film, the colours and light in this picture remind me of some original concept art work. This is such a beautiful and memorable story.
I remember the first time I watched the trailer. For some reason, I thought that the film would be some kind of parody from the fairytale without a typical classic/magical touch and would be very different from the older master pieces Disney had previously created. Besides, I wasn't able to accept at that moment ('cause times were changing and animation, too) that a tale like this one wouldn't have our beloved all time traditional animation. However, as a Disney unconditional lover, I gave it a chance and what a surprise! I felt totally enchanted with Tangled after going to the cinema. It had been worth seeing it :)
Because I love and I love and I love and I love you only (only)
Because I need and I need and I need and I need you more, yeah

Hold me in your arms, in your love and your light
I'm on your wave right now (wave)
I'm on your wave right now, yeah (wave)
I'm on your vibe now, you got me on your side now, yeah
I'm on your wave right now, whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah
If not you, then I don't wanna know, I don't want no story
Day and night, it's unconditional, got me livin' softly, yeah, yeah
Love me jeje, love me tender (ooh)

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

First test shots with my new glass: Tamron 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD.
Been atricious weather and lighting here over the last couple of days, but St Valentine brought me a new toy on his feast day (oh, unconditional love! ;-), so have managed to snap a few shots at least.
Not managed to venture out to put this baby through its paces good and proper yet, but an quite pleased with this shot of my faithful and friendly robin visiting my bird table yet again... and quite a fine bokeh too...
I think this glass is gonna be a good buy: a versatile all round walk around, and sharp. Even You Tube's somewhat eccentric, passionate and opinionated "Angry Photographer" describes this lens as "shockingly impressive considering the zoom range" and he is a VERY hard man to please indeed... ;-)
My own first impressions: considering the unprecedented wide zoom range of this lens (the first in its class (thank you Tamron!!!), the optical quality is quite amazing...!!!

Back Story .........................................
Rain and wind had stopped before I left.
Daybreak was still an hour away as the
scooter made it's way down the road.
Ms Mama, BTP and Little Freckles were all
waiting for me at the head of the driveway.
After the first phase of feeding was over we
took off. Numerous food bags were stashed
in my cargo pockets as well as in the cloth bag
that carried special items for the nuns.
A small container with antibiotic cream is in my
pocket with extra q-tips too.
All the dogs were cared for and are doing fine.
Thursday and Friday I was on the road in heavy
rain an wind. Had a meeting with immigration's
in a town a very long ways away, 3 hr each way !
Didn't want to go today, but I did. Next is breakfast
then a long nap. Tomorrow I stay home and rest up.

I have deserted Flickr you can see all my (actual) work in www.facebook.com/raquelbarberofoto
THANKS! :D
For some reason, this image is special to me.
It is taken outside the American Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. That particular wall actually separates the Embassy complex inside from the rest of the city.
The Pan-Asian look of the child that clings to her arm tells me she is an American married to a local, what more, due to her perceptible Caucasian look. It could be immigration matters that brought her and the kids to the place – just moments before they made an exit from the Embassy.
What attracts me is the way she carries her baby. I was staying in the USA for 7 years but I never came across woman carry a baby the way she does. It’s also hardly seen among Malaysians. She must’ve employed the Indonesian way because it’s prevalent among Indonesian women to use a ply of batik cloth hurled around the shoulder creating a pocket in front for baby to rest in.
I had in mind what I wanted the image to look like with the drama of a mother, a toddler and a baby. It strikes upon me the categorical love and care from a woman called mother. I was also meaning to have the wall as the background for my shot. I waited for her and kids to pass by. And got the image exactly what I had drawn in my head.
For this image, I prefer to be in sepia.
HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!!!

I begin my photographic creative journeys with my son AJ at my side because he adds inspiration into the visual experience. I attach several objects to a mobile in our living room and turn up some music. Then I basically dance with my camera in hand, hoping to catch the wonderful flickers of beautiful colors, shapes and movements from the spinning and dancing motion that takes place. Then I use my Macintosh computer with Photoshop to enhance several images and combine them into the final composite prints. Some of the images are not composites but are always enhanced in some way that I feel might be beautifully aesthetically pleasing images to enjoy. These images can really feel and look as if they have been painted by a magic brush. I feel a rush of great joy in seeing one printed and hung on the wall. I feel like they sing, dance and play for my eyes and consider the finished works to be fine art photography. What intrigues me most about all photography are the colors, shapes, and patterns which give me mini vacations and provide great rest and relaxation. My great hope is that I can also offer this same joy to everyone who see my photographs. When it comes to making lasting images and having a great investment in photographic art, the best prints possible are now found to be on aluminum. The colors are vibrant and the luminescence is breathtaking. The detail and resolution are incredible. So you will get from my abstracts just fantastic eye popping art . Paper based prints will last about 20 years. The Aluminum prints are about 150 years for the true color stability. This makes it possible for even your grandchildren to enjoy them. But the best part is this can be a great investment for your love of photographic art. Some of my prints are in limited editions. If you would like to make an investment in my art prints for yourself, please let me know.

"Unconditional Surrender" is a series of sculptures by Seward Johnson resembling a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt, "V–J day in Times Square", but said by Johnson to be based on a similar, less well known, photograph by Victor Jorgensen (Parenthesis: "V-J Day in Times Square", also "V-Day", and "The Kiss" is a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt that portrays an American sailor kissing a woman in a white dress on Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day) in Times Square in New York City, on August 14, 1945. The photograph was published a week later in Life magazine. End of Parenthesis). The original statue was first installed in Sarasota, Florida, then was moved to San Diego, California, and New York City, New York. Copies have been installed in Hamilton, New Jersey; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and Normandy, France.
In March 2012, the San Diego Unified Port District voted to purchase a permanent bronze replacement for the loaner. This controversial move resulted in the resignation of three board members. Despite the controversy, construction of the new weather-resistant bronze statue proceeded, in part due to a fund raising campaign by the Midway Museum that raised US$1 million. The bronze replacement Unconditional Surrender statue arrived to its new home on February 11, 2013. On February 14, 2013, the replacement was bolted into place near its original location.

The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

This wonderful statue was in the Dockyard for a few days last weekend, named "Embracing Peace" (also known as "Unconditional Surrender") before visiting Normandy, I believe.
Some info from Wikipedia: Unconditional Surrender is a series of sculptures by Seward Johnson resembling a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt, V–J day in Times Square, but said by Johnson to be based on a similar, less well known, photograph by Victor Jorgensen.
JJ was asked by some American fella if he would photograph himself with his embarrassed girlfriend (see note), so I photographed JJ doing his good deed!
