To get the best view of the Lower falls, up close, and the canyon, you walk 320 steps down the side of the canyon. The people in the photo walking up the stairs give it some perspective. We did it and it was a great view , and not too bad if you take your time. Although the photo ops from that view are not the greatest. But you are close enough to feel the spray.
Uncle Tom’s Pocket Watch.
This watch was given to my uncle by his parents, when as a young lad, he went off to fight in the First World War.
Uncle Carol was a very good shepherd in the region of the South Plain of Hungary. He learned the specifications for the shepherd knowledge from the older generations and he gave this knowledge to younger shepherds too.
"Come hear Uncle Johns Band by the riverside
Got some things to talk about, here beside the rising tide"---- Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead)
This iconic building on the beach at the mouth of the River Rother has been snapped by every photographer and their mother who's have ever been to the coast at Rye! The Red Shed, as its more commonly known is thought to have been constructed in the 1890's and has been in the same family for several generations; its now owned by William Norton who paints it twice a year. Uncle's Shed was used by the shrimp fishermen to store their nets and other kit and now houses a little collection of objects from the days of the shrimp fishing industry; it can be viewed at certain times during the tourist season.
Who knew Uncle Lyle's was such a hot spot? Throbbing base could be heard a block away, the only person on the street was me, but Uncle Lyle's was hopping! :-)
Grass-topped dyke, located east of the Oranje dyke mill. Former entrance to Slijk harbour, codenamed Uncle Beach by the Allied forces during the landing at Vlissingen.
The first British troops to land on Walcheren did so on the fortified seafront at Vlissingen. Less heavily defended beaches outside the town and east of the harbor were rejected, the ground being flooded and the wrong side of the Walcheren Canal. The landing site, codenamed Uncle Beach by the Allied forces, was south-east of the town centre, near the Oranje dyke mill, in the Eastern or Dock harbour.
Around the Oranjemolen the town of Vlissingen is planning to realize a World War II memorial site. At this site information will be provided about Vlissingen and the Walcheren region during World War II, the Battle of the Scheldt and the consequences of World War II for the civilian population.

Uncle Al is as sharp as they come at his age.... A classic 2nd generation Italian American with some small ties to the mafia in his youth.
His stories of growing up in Blue Island, Illinois have you hanging every word. My latest favorite; when my non-english speaking great, great grandmother hit an F.B.I agent over the head with a pizza paddle, simply because he entered her kitchen! All the agent needed was a question answered concerning a neighbor.... needless to say he never returned.
After we had lunch, I asked him if I could take his picture, he replied, "I don't want to ruin it with these wrinkles".
Uncle Bottomless sat slumped by the barrel, gut spilling out like an overripe pumpkin, fist welded to his dented cup. The bastard wasn’t drinking to taste — he was drinking to erase. His beard stank of stale ale, piss, and forgotten meals, while his eyes floated somewhere between rage and rot. The villagers called him a saint of the cellar, but it was mockery — he’d drained more kegs than prayers were ever spoken in the chapel. He belched like a dying ox, wiped his greasy paw on his robe, and muttered curses at ghosts nobody else could see.

I may have once
loved you, but years
have passed; wind
and dust fill the world,
obscure the Imperial
House. The pear orchard
our grandfathers planted,
long fallen, has blown
away like mist; man-size
trees by the Emperor's Tomb
seem skeletal in shadow;
winter grasses turn white
on slopes above the river.
The song is done, wind
strings and bird pipes cease:
at the height of joy, sorrow
follows with the moon's rising.
And I, a poor old man,
not knowing where to go,
must harden my feet
on the stone hills,
and trudge onward
toward the fading
light.

My Uncle Perlie’s home he built on this farm, ca. 1930s. A farm I spent many summer days on working in his fields as a young boy along with my brother, cousins and many other young boys and girls from the general area. Also many comforting memories from days long ago…but I still don’t care for green beans if I have other options to eat…

one of the nicest people you could ever meet. harley hanke - owner of the family farm built in 1884 by his grandfather, julius hanke. brownsville, minnesota.
Having build Donald and Daisy I just had to build "the richest Duck in the world" as well! That's of course Donald's uncle: Scrooge McDuck.
Scrooge McDuck was created by artist Carl Barks who happens to be one of my most favourite artists. His cartoons are just brilliant!
