This was just one of hundreds of rock formation we saw in the Arches National Park, Moab, UT

Empty-handed we enter this world, so empty-handed we leave it

Re-do of a shot from 2005.

I gotta say, I'm finding the .jpg's from my old Fujifilm Finepix F10 to be quite easy to work with in Lightroom. There is much more ability to adjust shadows/highlights and contrasts than I really expected. It's been a lot of fun going back and re-visiting these shots.

One note: if you noticed the couple on the rock in the distance, you are much more observant than I. It wasn't until I got home and looked at my photos on my computer that I saw them. :)

tri dollys are unbelievably better, track, ride, stability, and money..is better..lol

It defies belief that such a majestic place exists but even more unbelievable Imagine living in this imposing fairytale castle with everyone under your watchful and hopefully benevolent gaze, in 1371 the Count of Katzenelnbogen, Wilhelm II built the dream.

Originally called Burg Katzenelnbogen it became known as Burg Katz after the famous feud between the Count and the Archbishop of Trier who built Burg Deuernburg a decade earlier which became known as Burg Maus for the Cat and Mouse antics that they tried on each other during this feud.

The Castle has such a beautiful and functional design in a perfect location in such a strategic position that it was rendered impregnable until the invention of long range artillery.

Several Napoleon’s used canons and captured the castle until finally Bonaparte destroyed it in 1805 rather let it fall into Prussian hands.

Restored by a German designer from original drawings it was purchased by a Japanese businessman in 1989 and remains in private ownership to this day.

I took this with my D750 and Tamron SP 70-200mm 2.8 G2 Lens processed in LR, PS luminosity masks and DXO Nik

Disclaimer: Not trying to be realistic in my editing there is enough realism in the world, my style is a mix of painterly and romanticism as well as a work in progress.

I don’t understand the significance of this shirt and the scene was photographed in Victoria Railway Station London.

i'm so so so lucky that i'm going to be living here soon

My wife was more successful at capturing the beauty of these sandstone formations. Look carefully bottom center of the picture, and you can see a person standing in the structures which helps establish the size of these formations. You have to see to believe that nature developed these over the years.

Picture was made 19.01.2010, Cologne, Germany

Unbelievable! My Dagger in the afternoon! I just got him a new Boxelder branch.

Dropped on 10/11 - #452

Unbelievably this was taken at the same time as the shot below so I had the rainbow and the thunderstorm behind my back here! This picture was taken 9 seconds before the other one!

See the huge gust of wind on the fjord.....the rain isn't showing here because the flash didn't fire off with the camera pointing straight at the sun!

Looks better large!

no... it's not the Caribbean... just the amazing colour of Georgian Bay on the Bruce Peninsula... taken from the Bruce Trail at Rush Cove

Another visit to Dockey woods, Ashridge. After walking all round the woods this is still my favourite view.

Unbelievable, I did it! 17 years Second Life!

Unbelievable but true . . . I was in the yard taking photos of birds when all of a sudden all the birds (about 50, mostly sparrows) disappeared. I thought there might be a hawk nearby so I started to look around. Low and behold only about ten feet to my right was this huge hawk perched on my birdbath!

It did not notice me until it heard the click of the camera shutter. It was gone in an instant.

Then I started worrying that it was too close and closer than the minimum focus distance of my lens. I was pleasantly surprised to find nice sharp close-up photos of this hawk. Now I’m off to check my guide books to try and ID it! Hooray!

Update: Its an Immature Cooper's Hawk!!! It was huge! Thanks to Stylurus (Darrin) for the ID help!

And really done with the 7Artisans 35mm manual lens at F1.2! Astro-photographers hold on to your chair! Alas, I took this shot indoors, in one of the rooms of the Natural History Museum in London. This Moon installation, a globe of 6 meters diameter, was done by Luke Jerram. It is delightful, and hundreds of school children were dancing and shouting underneath.

When my dad and I visited Salt Lake City on July 23, 1977, we drove through South Yard to see what was going on. We were all but shocked to see this amazing lash up of EMDs, stored serviceable at 3rd North and 5th West. The group included DD35A No. UP70 and DD35s No. 93B, 87B, 72B, 82B, 98B, and 80B. A second group with eight DD35As were stored further south in the yard, all waiting for traffic levels to pick up. It wouldn't be long before all were hauling freight again.

Unbelievably cold and gusty day left this pond with only one lonely ice fisherman where there are typically many. I imagine he wasn't too disappointed.

Unbelievable golden light for a few minutes at sunset on Mauna Kea.
