The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was draped with a field of poppies, by grateful Canadians, during todays Remembrance Day ceremony.
Le coquelicot est devenu l'emblème qui représente les sacrifices ultimes de nos soldats.
The poppy has become the emblem of our soldier's ultimate sacrifices.
As it is Remembrance Day Sunday and the actual Armistice on Wednesday,
I felt this image was a poignant tribute for those that paid the ultimate sacrifice and of course we must never forget those who still bear the injuries and scars from many recent conflicts both here and overseas.
Remembering those who gave so much for our today is something that I am very passionate about.
Though this years Remembrance Day events will be very different as it will be up to local authorities whether they be permitted, we can use the two-minutes silence both Sunday and Wednesday to look back with gratitude for the sacrifice made by so many in times of war.
Take a moment to think about our time on earth and the wonders we get to experience during our stay, reflect on your own life and look forward with hope.
Thank you for viewing.🌺 Look after yourselves and each other, keep your spirits high, and above all stay well.

Mallory Square, famed for its Key West sunset celebrations, is home to a handsome military memorial dedicated to the men and women who have served, chronicling military events that affected Key West and the Florida Keys. Simple and elegant, the display highlights events beginning in 1822, when the U.S. Navy raised the American flag over Key West through today. It even has a gun turret recovered from the battleship Maine, which departed from Key West, prior to being sunk in the Havana Harbor.

"The flag of the United States has not been created by rhetorical sentences in declarations of independence and in bills of rights. It has been created by the experience of a great people, and nothing is written upon it that has not been written by their life. It is the embodiment, not of a sentiment, but of a history."

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed on the last Monday of May. It is a day of remembrance and mourning for the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. It is a time for individuals and families to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
Remembrance...Honor...Respect...Debt of Gratitude...and Thank You even though it will never be enough! Freedom is not free and some make the ultimate sacrifice to preserve it for us all...
Two thoughts on Memorial Day:

Please say thank you to a veteran today and every time you meet one. Remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
“A father’s love is forever imprinted on his child’s heart.”
— Jennifer Williamson
But, sometimes, that father is not physically there anymore. However, the strength of his love always is and that love always will be imprinted on their hearts. Love on your father's if you still can and remember them if you can't...they are forever with us.

Memorial Day is about remembering...specifically those who lost their lives in active military service. Thank you to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to the families who continue to sacrifice daily without their loved ones. Without you, America would not be what it is and we all owe you a debt that can never be repaid.
You are not forgotten...
Never forget!
I said this before but wanted to repeat today. I hate war, but have a deep respect for the man and woman that do the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy our way of life.

"Seeing Double"
I won’t be going to any Memorial Day sales today…
You won’t see me at Walmart, Penny’s Macy’s, Best Buy or shopping on Amazon, taking advantage of all the amazing “Memorial Day Deals”…
I will not use this day as an excuse to drink too much beer, or eat too many hamburgers…
Those who have made the Ultimate Sacrifice will be on my mind and in my heart for their effort to keep myself, my family and all the people in this country, past and future, safe, free and able to live the American dream without the fear of outside forces destroying that dream for their own twisted agendas.
You Will see the American flag flying proudly outside my home.
And you will be able to see me at Northview Cemetery, visiting the grave-sites of those who served, and thanking them for their courage, honor, service and sacrifice. Which I am truly and most humbly grateful for.
I hate war, but have a deep respect for the man and woman that do the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy our freedom.

Perhaps because we 'anthropomorphize' God (meaning when we perceive God in a human image) that confuses the nature of His existence as the belief that God is the 'spark' that created all that is. Scientists theorize that even the Big Bang Theory which explains the creation of our known Universe must have had a 'spark' that started it all.
Was is this 'spark' that all cultures in the world refer to as God?
Atheists say that religion is constructed to meet deep psychological needs.
If we turn the tables it appears that atheism's vested interest is in rejecting God or the 'faith in the unknown' altogether. The issue is not as much moral as it is intellectual.
Does mankind suppress the belief about God's existence deeming our reason of being here as accidental so that we can live with unbounded moral and sexual freedom?
My hands are tied on this one..

On Veterans Day 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) unveiled a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., designed to travel to communities throughout the United States. Since its dedication, The Wall That Heals has been displayed at nearly 600 communities throughout the nation (including Cookeville, TN for the last 4 days), spreading the Memorial's healing legacy to millions.
Bringing The Wall home to communities throughout our country allows the 58,318 souls enshrined on the Memorial to exist once more among family and friends in the peace and comfort of familiar surroundings. The traveling exhibit provides thousands of veterans who have been unable to cope with the prospect of facing The Wall to find the strength and courage to do so within their own communities, thus allowing the healing process to begin.
As on The Wall in Washington, D.C., the names on The Wall That Heals are listed by day of casualty. Beginning at the center/apex, the names start on the East Wall (right-hand side) working their way out to the end of that wing, picking up again at the far end of the West Wall (left-hand side) and working their way back in to the center/apex, joining the beginning and end of the conflict at the center.
Seeing this wall for myself in person (I've never seen the original in D.C.) was a very moving experience that cannot truly be described in words. The biggest thought that comes to my mind is that I need to do a better job of saying "Thank you!" to our service veterans and the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. You all are true American Heroes!!
This 1965 Bell UH-1P Iroquois is located within the walls of Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. It is a memorial to brave soldiers/airmen who presented to the United States of America a sacrifice that many are not willing to offer. The plaque that is just located adjacent to where I'm standing for this photograph reads:
"On 11 June 1982, six Airmen perished while performing missile convoy duty. This memorial is to remind those who serve to defend our nation of the ultimate sacrifice these men made fulfilling their commitment to peace and freedom. This memorial is dedicated in memory of the two pilots assigned to Detachment 9, 37th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron and the four security policemen assigned to the 352nd Missile Security Squadron."
May we all remember these brave men and their willingness to defend our country no matter the cost!

This moving image captures a moment of remembrance at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The weathered newspaper headline, "Lifelong Pals Killed in Vietnam," tells the story of William Jacob Goldberg and Owen Niel Garnet, both from Miami, who lost their lives in 1968—Billy in Quang Nam Province and Owen in Bien Hoa Province. Their names, etched into the black granite, reflect their ultimate sacrifice. Visiting this memorial reminds us of the personal stories behind each name and the profound impact of their loss—a humbling tribute to courage, friendship, and the cost of war.

Our military folks know they may give all for their country
All of our brave military deserve our prayers
They serve us well throughout the many ranks
We should always let them know we care
For they have earned our honor, praise and thanks.

Kent, CT - The Field of Flags, which has now traveled through many Connecticut towns and as far afield as Florida, is scheduled to come to Kent in August. The field, which has one flag for every soldier killed in Afghanistan and Iraq since the beginning of hostilities, honors those who have given the final measure for this country.

Every year, we come together to remember and honor the 567 Chicago Police Officers who have given their lives in the line-of-duty.
It is always a solemn and very moving occasion, especially when the names of the officers are read aloud: sometimes by distant relatives, sometimes by their partner, and, far too often, by small children reading the name of their Dad.
This image shows Police Recruits lining the paths towards the Chicago Police Memorial, each holding pictures of the fallen officers, with Soldier Field in the background, lit up in Blue in honor of our fallen officers.
When joining the army many of our boys are forced to GROW and become a real man to (in many cases) make the ultimate sacrifice for this nation.

We can never fully repay the debt of our proud nation to those who have laid down their lives for our country. The best we can do is honor their memory, ensure that their sacrifice is not in vain, and help provide for their families.
The security of our nation depends on the men and women who are willing to sacrifice their safety, and possibly their lives, to protect the freedoms the rest of us enjoy.
I am humbled, honored, saddened, and proud...
