These 3 swan chicks were rescued by "Mama Swan" after they got caught in the current of the flooded Little Cannon River. They were in fairly calm water when the little ones started to move towards the faster moving water. They werent strong enough to escape and they were being pulled into the faster water.
Luckily mama was able to get them to safer waters.

during, I guess 1953. My sister Susan is the one on the left - perhaps the hostess Penny is the one on the right. Some of the girls have frocked-up more than others - it was ever thus.
One hopes against hope that the two (sisters?) on the right have, fifty some years later, been transformed in to the most graceful of swans....

What started as a concept about transitioning from The Ugly Duckling to The Beautiful Swan ended up to be one amazing trip with these beautiful ladies:

Due to malnourishment when she was a pup, Pepsi isn't as tall as she should be, her feet are disproportional (too big), and the cruel owners cut her tail. In general, she's not considered beautiful. She will never win a beauty contest.
But, when you look into those eyes, the beauty is there, and it's there in abundance.
I don't care what people say or think. For me, she is one of the most beautiful dogs in the world. She's never angry, never aggressive, always there, loving, loyal, grateful for her new life.
She would give her life without second thoughts. She protected me once when a spotted a couple of strange guys on the street who were acting suspicious. She positioned herself between me and the guys and showed her teeth. It worked. I was shocked at first, as I had never seen her that way. From that moment, I knew that there was more to her than a just a sweet pet.
In the last 12 months, we thought we'd lose her on two occasions. We even made an agreement - when I would go to the vet, and the verdict would be negative, that I could make THE dreaded decision on the spot. She suffered enough in her life, and then there's no room for human egoistic behaviour.
But we fought, she fought, and she's still here. Greatness sometimes comes in the package of an ugly duckling.
Since the mallard hangs with this guy all the time, at least he doesn't seem to think so.
This is the first time I've tried the Recompose tool in Photoshop Elements 9, and I'm amazed at how well it works. There was a lot of space between these two ducks in the original image, and I was able to eliminate all the excessive grass and fence boards in between and bring the two ducks much closer together. A real cool tool.

I suppose having little to no chance on winning NaNoWriMo this year, I've caught the creative writing bug. I'm obsessed with writing and can't think of anything else.
I hope that is a good thing.

To get this photo I had to give my model a piggy back through a ton of nettles,
She is placed in a bramble nest, sat on a massive piece of metal roofing, Not the Safest of shoots.
I used the cold blue colouring to give the image a negative, icy feel to portray the emotions of The Ugly Duckling.
Her look is just piercing and it makes the whole image.
