Wieder einmal kreist das Elternpaar der Mäusebussarde über unserem Garten und den Wiesen drum herum. Ein toller anblick. Ausnahmsweise auch mal das ich die Kamere dabei hatte.

Mit dem gemischten Güterzug EZ 98742 nach Nürnberg Rbf passiert eine unbekannt gebliebene DB-185 den Viadukt von Jossa an der Nord-Süd-Strecke.
These are the Cuchara Mountains, a small isolated range of the Rockies in south central Colorado, very close to the New Mexico border. Winter hangs on for a large part of the year here. This photo taken at almost 10,000 feet elevation shows that it's almost June and none of the aspens in the shot have a single Spring bud on them. There was a cold wind blowing, almost "like off the glacier", it snowed for a short time, mostly uber dry "corn snow", and temperatures dropped well into the 20's that night.
Hard to see, but in the distance is one of the "Spanish Sisters", peeking over the horizon.
Truly one of my favorite alpine ecosystems on the Planet.

The Brucker Moos is an example of what wonderful things can happen when nature conservation and agriculture work together.
Bruck - It took 30 years. Now the renaturation of the Brucker Moos has been completed for the time being. This valuable patch of earth, which "has become so beautiful", as Bruck's mayor Josef Schwäbl described it, stretches over 700 hectares from Bruck to Pausmühle. It used to look different. Drainage measures, the straightening of the Moosach river and the construction of drainage channels caused the moor to shrink and created agricultural land. Yet an intact raised bog is so important - it binds up to 1.5 tonnes of CO2 per hectare.
Then, in 1985, the Bavarian Parliament passed the Species and Biotope Protection Programme. The project "Ecological Renewal of the Brucker Moos" was born. This gave rise to the Brucker Moos as we know it today. All those involved honoured this work in a ceremony at the Alxinger Wirt. "The beginning was difficult and did not go smoothly," said Schwäbl in his speech. The farmers would have been afraid for their land. But he emphasised: "The moss is a cultural landscape that was created by the work of the farmers and the area around the moss should also remain cultivable," he said. "But the nature conservationists were also afraid of the farmers," said Max Finster from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority. "But we have had positive experiences on both sides." To date, 190 hectares have been bought from the farmers or have become the property of the district through land swaps. The farmers continue to be responsible for maintenance. The area is renaturalised and extensively farmed.
Today, the Brucker Moos is home to valuable soil and meadow breeding species. The aim of the project, to return a large part of the moss to extensive agricultural use in an area that is as contiguous as possible, has been realised in an outstanding way. A "grandiose landscape" has been created.

Das vermutlich auf die Karl dem Großen im Jahr 805 trotzende slawische Canburg zurückgehende Kaaden (Kadaň) an der Eger ist als Siedlung wohl Ende des 11. Jahrhunderts angelegt worden. Nachdem sie 1186 von Herzog Friedrich an den Johanniterorden übergeben wurde, erhielt sie bald den Status einer Königsstadt mitsamt Burg und neuem Minoritenkloster. Die Blütezeit der Stadt im 15./16. Jahrhundert endete durch den Umstand, dass das bereits protestantische Kaaden zwangsweise rekatholisiert wurde und zudem im Dreißigjährigen Krieg drastische Plünderungen erlebte. Dennoch blieb eine außergewöhnlich geschlossene und reichhaltige historische Baustruktur erhalten, weshalb die Stadt seit 1978 als Denkmalreservat unter Schutz gestellt ist. Der Blick auf Kaaden über die Eger zählt wohl zu den schönsten Stadtansichten Böhmens.

Während am 23. Oktober 2011, inmitten einer dieses Jahr lang anhaltenden, herbstlichen Hochdruckwetterlage gelegen, in den Flusstälern von Rhein und Mosel bis in die Mittagsstunden dichter Nebel hing, so waren die Höhen des Hunsrücks relativ früh davon befreit, auch wenn noch ein leichter Dunstschleier über den verfärbten Waldhängen der Umgebung lag...
Auch die Schatten wichen - obwohl erst knapp zuvor - rechtzeitig vom Viadukt über der an der Steilstrecke Boppard - Buchholz gelegenen Hubertusschlucht, um den 650, wie er nach langem Hin und Her nun auf der Strecke zum Einsatz kommt, effektvoll zu beleuchten.
Unterwegs ist das kleine Vehikel dabei als VEN 87966 nach Emmelshausen. ;)

Hello there my friends! Happy April!! A brand new month is here! I am starting off the month featuring KraftWork at the Uber event with the Carolina house!! Also featuring the White Spring Heart Fence by Jian surrounding the home and the Roman shades in the windows by MudHoney. I was inspired by blooming flowers and gardens. I wanted that same bright blooming feeling with this home and went with multicolor flowers and plants and idk if I was hungry but they looked like Fruity pebbles to me. Über Pfingsten gab es in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg wieder ein kleines Dampfspektakel, unter Anderem mit der S3/6, 01 509 und 52 8079. Mich interessierten allerdings weniger die Dampfloks, sondern der Bierpendelzug von Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg nach Kulmbach zur Mönchshof Brauerei. Auf der ersten Rückfahrt von Kulmbach nach Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg konnte der Pendelzug bei der Ausfahrt aus Untersteinach fotografiert werden, durch "Zufall" kam sogar noch ein Käfer die Straße entlang gefahren. ;)
Der Standpunkt befand sich übrigens hinter dem Prellbock des Ausziehgleises.

Der südliche Bereich der odenwaldbahn war früher durch zwei große Viadukte geprägt: das Himbächel- und Haintalviadukt. Über das letztgenannte Viadukt bei Friedrichsdorf dröhnt im Mai 1988 eine Gießener 216 mit ihrer D-Zug-Garnitur gen Eberbach.
