Die Astoria Bridge ist eine Fachwerkbrücke über die Mündung des, an dieser Stelle ca. 6 km breiten Columbia River zwischen den Bundesstaaten Oregon und Washington im Westen der USA. Sie wurde von William A. Bugee entworfen und war bei ihrer Fertigstellung im Jahr 1966 die längste durchgehende Fachwerkbrücke der Welt. Heute ist sie die älteste noch bestehende Brücke in Fachwerkarchitektur in Nordamerika.

Der beeindruckendste Abschnitt befindet sich dabei im Südteil, nahe Astoria in Oregon. Dort steigen die Fahrspuren imposant an und die Brücke ermöglicht den Schiffen auf dem Columbia River die Durchfahrt. Im nördlichen und deutlich längeren Bereich verlaufen die Fahrspuren der Brücke über vier Kilometer fast schon wie ein Damm über das Wasser.

The most impressive section is in the southern section, near Astoria, Oregon. There, the lanes rise dramatically, allowing ships on the Columbia River to pass through. In the northern and significantly longer section, the bridge's lanes extend over the water for four kilometers, almost like a dam.

Brücke über den Kanal Illau-Schneegraben bei Winsen/Luhe. Das Holz ist sehr morsch und die Bohlen sind zum Teil schon gebrochen.

Die knapp 30 Kilometer lange Dornbirner Ach ist ein wichtiger Abfluss für die kleinen Bäche im Bregenzerwaldgebirge in Vorarberg. Südöstlich von Dornbirn hat sich der Fluss dabei in Form der beiden tiefen und engen Schluchten des Rappenlochs und des Alplochs in die hier teils senkrecht stehenden Kalksteinschichten des Gebirges eingeschnitten. Die etwa 700 Meter lange Alplochschlucht wurde 1902 durch einen schmalen Weg erschlossen. Dabei verläuft der Steg teils frei über dem Wasser der Dornbirner Ach. Durch den Felsen rechterhand verläuft zu dem ein Wassertunnel, welches das Kraftwerk Ebensand mit Wasser zur Stromerzeugung versorgt.

Nachdem die Sonne zwei Minuten über den Berg war, rollte am Morgen des 23.06. ein sehr sauberes Alpha Doppel in Form von 193 550 und 193 557 durch das Trentino bzw. Südtirol und konnte bei Mezzocorona mit dem TEC 43100 auf dem Weg zum Brenner abgelichtet werden.

In Chemnitz hat man sich mit der Rückleistung sehr beeilt, und nach gar nicht langer Wartezeit kam die 233 233 mit ihrer Fuhre nach Großkorbetha über das Göhrener Viadukt gedröhnt. Wenigstens hat heute kein Windstoß und keine Ente die Spiegelung beeinträchtigt! ;-)
Kurz vor dem Viadukt ist ein Kreuzungspunkt, und da dem Zug ein RE 6 aus Leipzig entgegen kam, war es sowohl ein optisches wie auch akustisches Erlebnis!

The Brucker Moos is an example of what wonderful things can happen when nature conservation and agriculture work together.
Bruck - It took 30 years. Now the renaturation of the Brucker Moos has been completed for the time being. This valuable patch of earth, which "has become so beautiful", as Bruck's mayor Josef Schwäbl described it, stretches over 700 hectares from Bruck to Pausmühle. It used to look different. Drainage measures, the straightening of the Moosach river and the construction of drainage channels caused the moor to shrink and created agricultural land. Yet an intact raised bog is so important - it binds up to 1.5 tonnes of CO2 per hectare.
Then, in 1985, the Bavarian Parliament passed the Species and Biotope Protection Programme. The project "Ecological Renewal of the Brucker Moos" was born. This gave rise to the Brucker Moos as we know it today. All those involved honoured this work in a ceremony at the Alxinger Wirt. "The beginning was difficult and did not go smoothly," said Schwäbl in his speech. The farmers would have been afraid for their land. But he emphasised: "The moss is a cultural landscape that was created by the work of the farmers and the area around the moss should also remain cultivable," he said. "But the nature conservationists were also afraid of the farmers," said Max Finster from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority. "But we have had positive experiences on both sides." To date, 190 hectares have been bought from the farmers or have become the property of the district through land swaps. The farmers continue to be responsible for maintenance. The area is renaturalised and extensively farmed.
Today, the Brucker Moos is home to valuable soil and meadow breeding species. The aim of the project, to return a large part of the moss to extensive agricultural use in an area that is as contiguous as possible, has been realised in an outstanding way. A "grandiose landscape" has been created.

Während am 23. Oktober 2011, inmitten einer dieses Jahr lang anhaltenden, herbstlichen Hochdruckwetterlage gelegen, in den Flusstälern von Rhein und Mosel bis in die Mittagsstunden dichter Nebel hing, so waren die Höhen des Hunsrücks relativ früh davon befreit, auch wenn noch ein leichter Dunstschleier über den verfärbten Waldhängen der Umgebung lag...
Auch die Schatten wichen - obwohl erst knapp zuvor - rechtzeitig vom Viadukt über der an der Steilstrecke Boppard - Buchholz gelegenen Hubertusschlucht, um den 650, wie er nach langem Hin und Her nun auf der Strecke zum Einsatz kommt, effektvoll zu beleuchten.
Unterwegs ist das kleine Vehikel dabei als VEN 87966 nach Emmelshausen. ;)
