Linotype-Post,

Hausmitteilungen der Linotype GmbH, Berlin und Frankfurt am Main,

Neue Folge, Heft 68, November 1967

The words are taken from the poem I wrote, titled - "it's a bubble thing!".

Bubbles - small, big, colored thing,

you blow them, they will fly, as if touch the sky.

ephemeral - never care - flaunt their wings,

you will not know, it's a bubble thing!

One day I asked a bubbly bubble,

you sway as if you will always be there;

oblivious of thing, you sway in your own bubble.

she said - it's a bubble thing!

The bubble said where did you blow me from and where did I eventually go?

I thought and thought...

She said why are you so attached to just one form of the duality,

but may be its a little non-intuitive to you, as it's a bubble thing!

She said - you thought you generated one, but it was always there!

you just changed its form to something, which was volatile and bare.

You behold the vista - but once you desired to hold...

But, why am I telling you this...? it's a bubble thing!

My finished triptych for Experimental Typography. I had chosen my family tree as a theme and the names of all my known direct ancestors are contained within these images.

Annoyingly the centre 'square' ended up being a slightly different size to the others but I didn't have time to replace it.

A Calendar for the year 2009 that I made for Typography class.

This is the finished product for the first project in my typography class. The assignment was the take the phrase "Just because you can does not mean that you should" and illustrate it using the text and minimal illustration. Admittedly, I went a little overboard with illustration, but I'm happy with the outcome.

The idea behind this typography is to recall the importance of praying all the time. Usually we come up with questions and what if's that lead to some doubts. Remember: PRAY FIRST!

Anyone who can identify this machine is telling me their age. Back when Adobe was an idea being hatched between John Warnock and Chuck Geschke over lunch at PARC and PageMaker was floating around in Paul Brainard's brain and Apple operated out of a California back street garage and Microsoft was a tiny little startup over the hill in Seattle that we tried to find one day but couldn't (no Google map back then) and Douglas Engelbart was working away at ARC on something called a mouse-

Mrs. McFadden and student. it was faster than setting type on a stick and you didn't have to deal with a Linotype operator. But you had better know the coding info on the screen. No spell checker either. It's output was a twelve inch wide strip of photo paper from a roll in the machine that the students hung from wires and pipes in the lab to dry after being processed in a chemical bath. They were then cut up into repros to be pasted on a mechanical. And we thought it was the most modern system possible.

Typography book, pages inside... designed in Paula Angel's Typography class.

This is from a book called: Typography an Encyclopedic Survey of Types Design and Techniques Throughout History.

I had to do a few ads for my typography class. I was thinking of the word "Cancer", and the word "Can" came to mind. When you "can" something, you ditch it... throw it out. So I automatically associated that with an aluminum can. Then I started thinking about how sugar, found in pop, boosts the growth of cancer. I'm sure Coca-Cola would hate me for this. :( :: the Coke can is something I found on Google.

I’m encouraging you to look further. Don’t just believe what you see in front of you. Just as it is with design…there’s usually something deeper, something more you can get out of it. Dig around a bit, find out for yourself. Search for truth, demand to be informed. Know not only your sources, but know what these things do to you, your body, your world. You’ve only got one of each–use them wisely for your potential. pixel8design.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/the-campaign-to-can...
