Typography exercise using found text (from an issue of STEP design magazine).

Looks like a Peter Saville's design work. Just a sleeve for your racket.

we had a rather large party today for adults who were 50 and teens (18 and 16) and because of the build, there is no downstairs loo, so we had to get some in! it was all very festie like and even rained at the end!!

the kids made and positioned this sign!!

it was very messy (in a fun way!)

Wallpaper 1920x1200 created with Jim Spieces heavy display face »Samson Classic«.

Samson Classic SG

Here is another classic design by Robert Hunter Middleton for the Ludow Foundry in 1940.

Samson Classic is a very heavy display face with a wonderful medley of thick-and-thins. Developed just before World War II, this sturdy, chunky style gained popularity in newspaper advertising work. It appears as though it was created using a broad pen and retains the angled stroke endings.

The goal for this project was to create a promotional item that featured a classic typeface.

Another requirement was that the design needed to interpret a saying from Poor Richard’s Almanac using the typeface being featured, in this case, Sabon.

Designed by Otto Baumberger 1932 for an air show.

These are soaps I made using scraps (hence the unusual assortment of colors). I needed them to make a multi-cavity mold since I decided to reopen my Soap Lab shop. The colors are neat, though. Maybe I should offer some color options in my shop?

Our Daily Challenge 3-9 November: Typography.

Remember Letraset? I cherish my old catalogue!

I used a template to trace the outline of the letters then cut the shapes freehand. This is an 8.5" x 11" piece of card stock.

More details about this on my blog.

Printing characters

In typography, character or kind (mobile, typographical or printing) is a small piece, usually type metal for receiving the greasy ink before being pressed on a medium, usually paper, to leave there its footprint. Very large characters or types can be made of wood.

#2 in my Southern California "apartment typography" series. No, they won't all be yellow/orange. But this one seemed to fit.

I used pourable silicone to make this mold. I love that stuff! It's so sensitive that you can even see the tape I used to create the master. That could have been a bad thing, but luckily I was neat.

Typography is all about adjusting the text within the design while creating powerful content. It provides attractive appearance and preserves the aesthetic value of your content.
