Two old steamers 2890 & 52322 passing through Bury Bolton Street Station. East Lancashire Railways. (1505)
These two little flowers, had come out, at about the same time, both were in the same position and orientation, so I decided to take a picture of them both with the same prominence.
Estas dos pequeñas flores, habían salido, prácticamente al mismo tiempo, las dos estaban en la misma posición y orientación, por lo que decidí hacerles una foto colocando a las dos con el mismo protagonismo.
Fun with water drops while the wild fires are raging. I swear I only spilled a very small amount of water.
I'd like to try this with real rain drops, but they are not forthcoming right now.

Tawny owl fledglings
I could hear them and when one moved I finally saw them through the trees against the light. What a wonderful sight, Two young Tawnys. Must check them again in the morning
Welcome to central Iowa, friends, on a foggy, late summer morning. . . a highway detour re-routing us through the middle of the most fertile farmland in the world -- rich, black soil the colour of chocolate cake -- so quiet and stilled, no field thrush sang or cricket peeped, and for the moment. . . it seemed the world had stopped. . .
THANK YOU ALL MY KIND FLICKR FRIENDS,

We went to Fort DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg, Florida looking for the reddish egret and the white morph. I got this shot early in the morning. Brown pelicans are so common in Florida that I doubted I would even process it. However, when I looked at it, I liked it. I almost had to squint, just like I did when I took the shot. Anyway, here it is.

I got this shot out of the luck....was shooting some day-lilies, then, these two birds were on top of my head singing to each other. So, it's my chance to get a shot. Wish I could take more shots, they flew away quickly.
Comps as in composites (family of plant- Asteraceae, formerly Compositae), not compositions. Now that our summer has turned hot and smoky with many plants withering, it is time to look back at flowers from mid-summer. On the left is Blanketflower (Gaillardia aristata), which occurs throughout western North America. Note the several insect visitors among its petals. On the right is a Fleabane Daisy (Erigeron spp, one of the 44 species that occur in Colorado).

My heart really isn't in this today, my sweet dog is not well and I'm afraid it is time to say goodbye. As some of you may remember she has been slowly going down and we've known it is just a matter of time. Sorry to be a bummer on Valentine's. My daughter is trying to deal with it and made up a song that was supposed to be funny and light but felt a bit disconnected. I think she was trying to use humor to not deal with the hard emotion of death and saying goodbye. Happy Valentine's Day, give those you love an extra hug today I know I will.
