Together with the Johnson 2Fs and 3Fs another old freight loco class which warranted attention back in 1963 was the remaining LNWR Super d 0-8-0s which were shedded at Bescot.
Ken appears to have made at least a couple of trips to search out these survivors which he found at Willenhall.
In November 1963 he caught one climbing away from the station while another member of the class shunted the sidings.
49430 and 49361 were the last remaining LNWR locos in service and were withdrawn two weeks after working an SLS farewell railtour and then sent to Cashmore’s at Great Bridge for cutting up. It is likely the locos picture here include these two engines.
Thankfully digital technology has restored a rather fuzzy slide sufficiently to warrant inclusion on this site.

This is part of the Emperors & Jewels exhibition: Treasures of the Indian Courts from the al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait. On loan to the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto.
On Boxing Day (no, not when people punch each other after Christmas, but a British tradition of 26 December as a holiday), I met up with John FitzGerald (Ipernity) or John FitzGerald (flickr} to visit the Aga Khan Museum, which is dedicated to Islamic artifacts. Special thanks to John for alerting me about the Emperors & Jewels special exhibition.
Yesterday was a perfect day! My son, maybe and I made a great walk, took a lot of photo's, the sun was sinning...

Two men at a Manhattan storefront as a Columbus Day parade passes by.
Switching gears again today, this is another photograph from our October East Coast visit. The trip was primarily geared toward photographing autumn color in New England, but we managed to sped a couple of nights in Manhattan between that and our homeward flight. Our visit coincided with what New York still refers to as the “Columbus Day Parade,” though a more modern designation is apparently also something along the lines of Italian Heritage Day. (One bizarrely noteworthy moment was seeing Rudy Giuliani yucking it up at the front of one of the floats, but I digress…) We wandered around the periphery of the parade route, where the onlookers were in many cases more fascinating than the parade itself.
I made this photograph using one of my “blind shooting” techniques. There are lots of different thoughts about how street photographers should (or should not) interact with their subjects, and I think they all have some validity. Here I did not want the subjects to be distracted by me, so I held the camera in front of me as I walked by and made a couple of exposures without look directly at the two men. I think it paid off. I feel like there are a number of ways to try to make sense of what is going on here and what it might imply, but I’ll leave it to viewers to figure this out.

Now that I'm a little more confident with the close up filters, wanted to try and capture something different with our rings.
Taken with +1, +2 and +10 combination filters. My first attempt was to capture the engravings on my own ring, which I was able to do, but the rest of it was just blown out and it didn't look great to me.
Here we have my wife's engagement ring sitting inside my ring.
Using a LED torch, I was able to get a much clearer picture of the rings, but not of the diamond which was just reflecting too much.

My friend Diana (Di's Eyes') and I met for lunch and took a photowalk around Little Italy.... we took doors, buildings, murals, reflections and then found a small shop that had masks. It was Ash Wednesday just after Mardi Gras... we started snapping and when put together thought they were the best. We had a wonderful afternoon for a fun project!
The image I took is on the left and Diana's is on the right her photostream is:

I must say this has been the best project for me I collaborated with two special people from the group, one close and one far!
DB Cargo's Grand Central-liveried Class 90, 90026, returns to Alstom's Widnes Transport Technology Centre to resume testing with the Mk4 sets being refurbished there for GC.
90026 had been at Crewe ETD for an A Exam and was accompanied on 0Z90 to Widnes by Class 67, 67015, The 67 was then used by the DB crew as their taxi back to base.
The Skip drew the pair out of the ETD and through the station to Crewe L&NWR to change ends, prior to heading north to Widnes with the Skoda leading. The pair are captured here at Coppenhall just north of Crewe.

This is a report of the traditional feast which was celebrated on November 6 this year 2019, in the municipality of Mongiuffi Melia (consisting of the two centers of Melia and Mongiuffi, in the province of Messina) in honor of St. Leonard of Noblac , also known as St. Leonard Abbot or hermit, for He was a French abbot who for much of his life he lived as a hermit; November 6 is the date of the saint's death, maybe He died in 1599. San Leonardo is originally the patron saint of convicts, prisoners (when the saint was in life he dedicated himself to prisoners of war, trying to free them, also trying to relieve the severe corporal punishment and fines which they had to submit); later also became the patron saint of blacksmiths, manufacturers of chains, farmers, miners (and robbers), and women in labor too: He rescued Queen Clotilde who had gone into a coma due to serious complications during childbirth, her intervention best solved that serious situation with the queen who succeeded in awakening from a state of coma and giving birth to a beautiful child. In southern Italy the cult of this saint was introduced by the Normans. It's strange to observe that in the hamlet of Mongiuffi besides the devotion to St. Leonard (he is always holding the chains), there is also a great devotion to the "Madonna of the chain", She is holding chains too (and in fact in Mongiuffi there is a sanctuary dedicated to Her).
On the morning of November 6, after the Solemn Mass, the Saint is carried on shoulders on the artistic float , with the music of the local band ("St. Leonard’s band"of Mongiuffi) along the narrow and perched alleys. An exciting time it can be observed when the procession arrives at the Fountain Square, in the center of the country, and here is made a gift to this Patron Saint: He receive a "cuddura" (a donut dough braided) particularly embellished with elegant compositions made always in bread dough, so after "smaller cuddure" are distributed to the population (so called "St. Leonard's cuddure"). At the end of the procession, the float with San Leonardo returns to the church, here we see an other characteristic tradition, called "a 'pisata" (the weighing), now it takes place in symbolic form (in some Sicilian centers it is still performed according to the most rigid tradition, with variations linked to the place), consists in weighing very young children on a rustic weight scale: placed on an axis whose pivot is constituted by one of the arms of the float, the child has as counterweight a sack of wheat , who, once balance is reached, will be given to the Saint.
Particularly interesting to visit the land of Mongiuffi Melia are the so-called Arcofie or Contrabbone, galleries for the transition from house to house probably built by the Arabs.

When traveling to the blacksmith, the captain of the black falcon always stop by his old friend's Leon. The two of them were in the same unit of the royal guard, until Leon quit the army, after getting back from a too long mission patroling the western border of the realm, only to find his wife had succumbed to a disease. After some time he decided to reopen the family brewery: the Two Vipers' Brewery.
