In Search of Winter Beauties

DSC-7979

During winter here in NJ, the red twig dogwood shrubs really pop out of the landscape, especially on a misty, foggy day. One of the few bushes planted here specifically for winter interest.

This is a twig from a Black Olive Tree. It has a very characteristic way of branching. It seems that its branches start off at 45 degree angles and then straighten out.
