This week's theme in the 52.5 of 2010 group is Work or People at Work, so here's some of my student TV production staff at work recording our daily news magazine. We do a live show in the morning and then record this show for playback later in the day. Here they are recording the "Weekend Weather with Tay" segment, you can see her on the couch in the studio and in the monitors.
We also had a huge bag of popcorn we were all eating today, that's what is in the plactic cups on the counter. We have been using this set-up for five years now and we need to do some renovations. We paint and change the studio almost every summer, but the control room just keeps getting new equipment added. The additional stuff never really gets installed completely so we have power strips sitting around like the one on the counter, maybe this summer we will rework some that also!
Here's a closer view of the 3 windows, exposed for the first time since possibly the 1960's. The windows once provided a view to Radio Studio 3E on the 3rd floor below. At this location in front of these 4th floor windows there was a client viewing room for the studio below. The location of the windows was hidden for many years by 2 video editing rooms in the area known as "EJ" or "Electronic Journalism". The EJ area was dismantled in 2005 after the opening of DPS on the 5th floor. This space was remodeled for use as offices for NBC News and MSNBC. The 3rd floor studio that these windows overlooked was used more recently as a prop storage area. It is adjacent to Studio 3C, the former Nightly News and WNBC studio, which is once again the Nightly News studio. Photo shot Sept 2007.

The Mecca Bar, a local dive bar located in Downtown Fairbanks, Alaska at 549 Second Avenue, Fairbanks, AK 99701 in the Alaska Interior. To the left, a blue building with a radio tower on top contains the New Horrizons Gallery, the Lathrop Artists Studio, and the headquars and studio for KATN Channel 2 TV (digital channel 18). Next to the Mecca Bar is Soapy Smith's Pioneer Restaurant.
We were walking past, and I just happened to look over at the exact right moment to see what appear to be half-people, framed nicely in velvet curtains. (The rectangle is a well-placed frosted section on the glass wall, to keep tourists like me from ending up in the background of their video.)

Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB) VJs (video journalists) at work in their secret office on the Thai-Burma border. Founded in 1992, the Democratic Voice of Burma is a non-profit Burmese media organization broadcasting uncensored news and information about Burma, the ruling military regime and its political opposition.
Show Host Chris Onos with Participants in GRequest TV Show special programme on the Irish Referendum on 25 May 2018. The Referendum is on the proposed repeal of the 8th Amendment of the Irish Constitution.
The GRequest Show is shown on BEN Television SKY Channel 175 on Tuesdays at 6:30pm

Got to tour the CBC Vancouver studios recently as part of their annual open house. Here's a photo with a good peek into the newsroom from that adventure.
Must say as an American, I doubt in 12/2018 we'll see a major US Television Studio do the same anytime soon. Sadly we don't appreciate the press as much as Canada does and I'll leave it at that. At least I had my curiosity satisfied of what goes on in a TV Studio... and hopefully made some of the on-air folk feel genuinely appreciated for the hard & honourable work they do.

A handy gap in the netting permitted this shot. So sad to see one if the first purpose-built colour TV studios - with its isolated floor - being razed to the ground.
I'm pretty excited today because they used my photo as the new backdrop for our satellite studio here at the General Assembly Building. Then Former Governor L. Douglas Wilder came by to do some interviews with Fox and posed for me in front of it. After his first interview we talked about his upcoming book and his advice for the incoming administration. I'll probably have a radio piece with sound from our interview later this week.
Wilder was the first elected black Governor in this country. He's going to be 79 on Sunday. I hope I'm in as good shape and as sharp a dresser as he is when I'm that age. I wish I had gotten his cowboy boots in the picture. They were pretty great.
