Robin V. preparing to collect data on a large, dead, male loggerhead turtle that we found washed up on the Gulf beach on Cape St. George.We took data as well a tissue samples, and reported this to the Florida FWC Stranding and Salvage Network. 29 degrees 36.851 N and 85 degrees 04.977 W
Loggerhead turtle tracks, tractor tracks and man's footprints as seen in the early morning light. 2008 was a pretty good year for the turtles. Not as good as 2007...beach erosion caused some nest loss this year.
No lights on the beach after dark. They attract the newly hatched baby Loggerhead turtles away from the Gulf waters.

This Turtle is nonnative to Florida, so it is the result of a released pet.
Her pretty green eyes go well with the vegetation around her. She has released her urine on the dirt to make it nice and soft for digging.
