A turtule at Berlin Zoologichergarten

Found this Diamond Back Terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin terrapin) half dead on the beach in the off season, brought her home and helped her recover. She is back in the wild again now.

Recent Dive at Tioman Island

Just looking through some of the RAW files from my trip to Mauritius, as I've only edited a few.

This turtle was at a nature park on the island. It was massive!

"Stand in line, please"

Rusty spotted this big turtle crawling up the neighbors driveway, glad he did not go after it. I put him in the house and got out the camera. Harsh light :(

Male Glyptemys muhlenbergii, Tennessee Aquarium

A magnificent Green sea turtle feeding on the grass beds of Maho Bay. This dude let me float above him for a long, long time, just munching away. Bucket list, check! St John, Virgin Islands National Park, US Virgin Islands.

A leatherback sea turtle sighted close to shore in murky water, approx. 1 nautical mile off Mayport, FL, on January 14, 2020. Like right whales, leatherback sea turtles can be severely injured or killed by vessel strikes.

A juvenile humpback whale lunges towards a bait ball approx. 16 nautical miles off the St. Mary’s River Entrance on January 14, 2020. Unlike right whales, humpback whales feed on small fish while off Florida and Georgia in the winter months.

I find it is rather therapeutic to hand feed Green Sea Turtles, plus they are amazing and beautiful sea creatures!! They are so graceful in movement as they seem to glide through the water seamlessly.

comes up for a closer view of us

the surgeon fish are eating the algae off the turtle's shell

This little guy was lost so before I set him back into my lake I took this portrait of him.

The best shot i took of a very large turtle breaking the surface in fetiye turkey

Keep the smallest creatures in mind during drought conditions..like this small turtle in need of a low drink of water. This is a small turtle, the shell about the size of a woman's fist. I saw him yesterday coming toward the water hose as I sprayed the dry flower bed near the street at my house. Today, he was in the back garden, travelling along the brick path, which must have been easier to navigate than the fairly tall grass of our lawn. I quickly found this pot saucer and filled it with water for him. He hid under the upside down container you see at top of the frame. I flicked water on him, and he lowered his head to suck water off the bricks. It was obvious he was extremely thirsty, as he was not afraid of me nor did he try to avoid my hand as I flipped water over him. I waited until he lowered his head into the saucer and left to get the camera. He still had his head in the water when I returned, and it was 15 minutes before he took a break. Then, he peed, a lot of it came out all beneath his body, he looked around, and then he peed a couple more times, and resumed drinking. In all he spent nearly 25 or 30 minutes at this before he ventured away from the saucer of water. I watched him head for the shadier area of the garden, and he disappeared between really large flower pots with sweet potato vines and grasses creating a protected area. I moved the saucer into the pine straw mulch, and left to get some romaine and grapes for him. When I returned, he was again drinking from his oasis. I hope the little guy hangs around. It is a more protected area than the big world of the streets, and I have no problem with him eating the slugs and snails in my garden.
