Glass cut flower holder with some zany lighting. The object itself is a slightly drab slightly funeral thing so my flashlights and colour intrusion are either an abomination or an inspiration. I’m m kinda happy with this however as a macro subject it may be a bit too abstracted.
A view inside the 213 metre long tunnel that gives access to the Durie Hill elevator in Wanganui.
Built in 1919, The Durie Hill Elevator is New Zealand’s only public transport elevator and is still used on a daily basis by locals and visitors.
Access is through a long pedestrian tunnel, or an adit to be more precise – this tunnel has no exit point. You’ll be welcomed aboard the elevator for the 66-metre ride to the top of the hill. The ride costs $2 (each way) for adults, $1 for children and eftpos is available. The elevator operates 8am-6pm weekdays, 10am-5pm weekends and public holidays and is open every day except Christmas day.
The construction of the Durie Hill Underground Elevator enabled the development of the Durie Hill Garden Suburb in 1920. This suburb was planned by the architect Samuel Hurst Seager and is considered to be the first modern New Zealand suburb. The elevator continued to be operated by the company until 1 June 1942 when control passed to the Council, which continues to own and maintain the complex today.

Tunnel
Wishing everybody all the best for 2016 , a year full of colours and perspective
This picture was taken at the underpass of the Wilhelminaplein subway station in Rotterdam.
It has been photographed many times before , but recently people have renewed it and put some nice colourful lights in it.

Something fun and a little different
Everett empties chug through the tunnels near Cook behind what can only be described as an "eclectic" set of motors. Holding the point is one of two B40-8s left operating on BNSF's roster at the time, followed by an SD40-2 and tri-clops SD60M. The afternoon heat of the Columbia River Gorge must have been getting to the lead motor on their way west over the Fallbridge.

This tunnel is on the former Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midland Junction Railway which is now the 'rails-to-trails' Monsal Trail route.
Delaware-Lackawanna C425 2452 leads a quintet of ALCO/MLWs east on the Pocono Main with train PO-74. Around the bend at Myrtle Street, the crew will double this cut to some more hold cars and shove back through the tunnel, which is short enough to photograph through with a telephoto lens. With business booming and limited storage capacity, crews have to get creative to find places to stash cars. After ditching this block of cars, they'll return light power to Steamtown and brake test their loaded grain train for Mount Pocono. Thanks to Tim and Paul for an excellent show this weekend!
View from the Sedrun multi functional station inside the Gotthard base tunnel.
The exit of the tunnel in this direction is 20 km away, in the other direction it is even 37 km away.
By chance I had the opportunity to visit the tunnel through the SBB gottardino program. Once the tunnel goes into full operation in December 2016, it will no longer be possible for the public to have such a close look.
