The S.T. Baltimore was in use from 1906-62 and, according to www.steamtug.org, is "the last remaining hand-fired, coal-burning steam tug operating in the United States." It's on the National Register of Historic Places and its restoration is ongoing. Docked on the Patapsco River near the Baltimore Museum of Industry, Baltimore, MD. August 19, 2012.
A ship called Mungo ran aground in Littlehampton habour yesterday afternoon. After a heavy night in the pub I thought I would be good to get some photos and watch the tug do its job.

The Sister Tugs in Portsmouth Harbour. This was taken early morning on Friday before the Tall ship parade. As usual the fog was in, but did clear up just in time for the Tall Ship.

Newcastle Tug Boat
Busy industrial type landscapes with lots of things to look at; lines, angles and details galore are favourite photographic subjects of mine. Shipping harbours are included in this category. Newcastle, in New South Wales, is great for watching the big ships and tug boats come in and out between port and sea and whilst there recently, I took some time out to shoot some of the maritime action.

Tug in Ketchikan harbour. The rain eased off and things brightened up for long enough for me to get this shot.
I like it because of the guy standing just inside the open door, enjoying a moment of leisure and a little fresh air. (Although he could be having a cigarette break for all I know.)
Ketchikan is beautiful. It does, however, enjoy four-seasons-in-a-day weather, constantly switching between sunlight, rain, overcast sky and a cold wind.
