Trying to find public spaces to take skyline shots in Dubai lead to finding Level 43 lounge in Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road.
Buy a drink and take some shots from this open-to-the-sky area. A fairly small lounge so not somewhere where you can setup a tripod so this was handheld.
You can see Burj Khalifa in the background... it doesn't look high due to perspective but is double the height of the other buildings!
I am way behind, I will try and catch up over the weekend.
Thanks to all who view and comment on my images, much appreciated :)

Just trying out an option to build up some fitness again, and took this picture on the way, Bergse Heide nature reserve for recreation.
The original was taken with my HTC 10 and manipulated with software on my phone. As is often the case, I noticed the image was full of noise and other artefacts after viewing it on a larger screen. Still I liked the concept, so I tried to salvage the image by adding oil and canvas filters in PS.
Original size can only be viewed through the "view all sizes" button to the right. Left-clicking shows image at about 50 percent.
i woke up thinking of this image, from last November -- decided to try it in b&w instead of the original color (film)...
I tried a black and white version this time of The Church & School of the Society of Jesus, Antigua, Guatemala.
In the background the picks of El Fuego (the active one) and Acatenango Volcanoes.
The church of the Society of Jesus started building in 1561 and remained in good condition after the earthquake in 1773, but it was eventually destroyed by the 1917 and 1979 earthquakes.
Antigua is a city surrounded by volcanoes. It’s renowned for its Spanish colonial buildings and it was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
I am terrible without snooker so the table only serves to take pictures.

The ivy on this cottage turns this beautiful shade of red for just a couple of weeks in the year. I have tried many times to get a photo that I was happy with but the cottage is surrounded by mountains and it's very rare to get good light at this time of year- but this morning I was up early to capture the sun as it crept up over the hilltops.....

It's football season on the Siuslaw River. Tourists and locals alike were making bets on whether the sailboat's tall mast would split the uprights.
Had an inspiration to try a different take on the theme of the Afghan Girl. Of course, this model is not Afghan. She didn’t have anywhere even remotely close to the experience of the original subject, and I’m not suggesting that here. I do want to respect that. The original has a strong story behind it, and this is just an attempt to imitate some of the theme and styling. The theme was on my mind due to recent events, and I thought it was worthwhile to attempt since I admire the original. If it’s on your mind too, I strongly suggest looking into the history and conflict behind it. Like it? Hate it? I’m open to your thoughts. Thanks for looking.
