Aerial oblique view of the steel truss bridge (1961) spanning the Goulburn River at Sandy Hollow, about 150 km northwest of Newcastle, NSW. The river is practically dry after a prolonged drought.
(Sorry to say this no longer exists October 2020 this was cut down to make way for a modern dwelling) as of an old disused farm in the north west area of Derbyshire is set to become a block of new houses and barn conversions. I do hope that in some way they can keep the wooden truss work here in one of the old cow sheds
NS 6624, an increasingly endangered Norfolk Southern SD60 leads NS 211 across the Conodoguinet Creek on the old Reading Railroad twin truss bridge outside Boiling Springs, PA.
A typical truck based school bus from the large GoBus fleet. Known caloquially as "Trusses" these strange concoctions have become more numerous in recent times as the way to go if you want new school buses in your fleet.
2/2023 - Oil City, PA
PRR's 1930 wye bridge over the Allegheny River at Oil City was built in 1930 and is used by the Western New York & Pennsylvania today.
10/2022 - Navajo, NM
Abandoned tank and truss bridge at Navajo between Chama and Durango. This was pretty much as far as I could get driving west along the former DRGW, as the condition of the road went down hill fast. The next day of this trip, I was able to drive in from the other end to a point 9.9 miles from here. I could have gone at least a little bit farther but I lost the sun.
Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. It carries traffic across a canal that was dug to facilitate the hydroelectric plant on the St Mary's River.
We conclude our chase of the DREI Paris-Terre Haute turn with the bridge over the Wabash River. I have always wanted this shot but predictable eastbounds in the morning during Conrail eluded me. As for CSX here? Meh.
9/2024 - Blue Island, IL
The clouds parted just enough for me to capture Iowa Interstate 513 coming into Blue Island Junction on the IHB main.
CSX train L071 crosses the Kennebec River at Fairfield first on a truss section, then a girder style as it heads for Northern Maine Junction.

The Inn at Pickwick Landing State Park was a surprising treat. The building is great. Pool and river are wonderful. Take the weekend pontoon ride offered for free. Staff is friendly and fabulous. Emily will gladly share a family story at the Restaurant. What a treat.

This was taken last July 2011 from my half day guanzhou trip......was browsing for a photo that i would post here that shows another cool place in china...This is the interior of the famous guanzhou tower which was built for the recent asian games in china....honestly i was blown away by this area of the city....it was a treat for a designer like me to roam around the place and marvel at the modern architecture....i think a day wouldnt be enough for me to take photos here....lol.....there were so many new buildings...(including one that was designed by architect zaha hadid....although was quite dissapointed by how the manner of workmanship has been used in the building)...if you guys wanna know what i mean, try to visit it and look closely at the details of the exterior stone claddings....anyway, generally it was an awesome experience...i LOVED the guanzhou tower especially going up the viewing decks..
Finally captured these two train trusses. So, can an old lady learn new things from other photographers, I'm hoping so. Practicing with the shutter speed and ISO? Not sure exactly what I am doing, however i try and try again! Please enjoy.
A truck adapted to be a bus = a "Truss" !
The Big Daddy of GoBus's school bus fleet is based on a M.A.N. TGM 290 truck chassis fitted with a non- steering trailing axle.
These vehicles are based at various GoBus depots throughout the North Island.

This is the Martin Luther King bridge which crosses the Mississippi River between Saint Louis, MO and Illinois USA. It’s a cantilever truss bridge. This was captured from the Eads bridge probably on the Illinois side of the river.

The Sunsphere, located in World’s Fair Park in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, is a 266 ft (81 m) high hexagonal steel truss structure, topped with a 75 ft (23 m) gold-colored glass sphere that served as the symbol of the 1982 World's Fair.
Designed by the Knoxville-based architectural firm, Community Tectonics, the Sunsphere was created as the theme structure for the 1982 World's Fair. It was noted for its unique design in several engineering publications.
The World's Fair site later became a public park, the World's Fair Park, alongside Knoxville's official convention center and adjacent to the University of Tennessee's main campus. The Sunsphere remains standing directly across a man-made pond from the Tennessee Amphitheater, the only other structure remaining from the 1982 World's Fair.
In its original design, the sphere portion was to have had a diameter of 86.5 feet (26.4 m) to represent symbolically the 865,000-mile (1,392,000 km) diameter sun. The tower's window glass panels are layered in 24-karat gold dust and cut to seven different shapes. It weighs 600 tons and features six double steel truss columns that support the seven-story sphere. The tower has a volume of 203,689 cubic feet (5,767.8 m3) and a surface of 16,742 square feet (1,555.4 m2).
During the fair it cost $2 to take the elevator to the tower's observation deck. The tower served as a restaurant and featured food items such as the Sunburger and a rum and fruit juice cocktail called the Sunburst. In the early morning hours on May 12, 1982, a shot was fired from outside the fair site and shattered one of the sphere's windows.No one was ever arrested for the incident.
The Sunsphere has been used as a symbol for Knoxville, appearing in postcards and logos. Between 1993 and 1999, the Sunsphere was featured in part on the logo for the Knoxville Smokies minor league baseball club.
The 2002 AAU Junior Olympics mascot Spherit took its inspiration from the landmark. It featured red hair and a body shaped like the Sunsphere. On Sunday, May 15, 2000, nuclear weapons protesters scaled the tower and hung a large banner that said "Stop the Bombs." They remained on the tower for three days before surrendering to police.
The Sunsphere is also featured in the logo for the Hard Knox Roller Girls women's flat-track roller derby league and their mascot, Sphere This also took its inspiration from the Knoxville landmark. The Sunsphere was highlighted in the seventh season episode of animated TV sitcom The Simpsons titled "Bart on the Road" and was renamed the wig sphere due to its use as a storage facility for wigs.
In 2011, a drawing of the Sunsphere – alongside images of iconic structures from Tennessee's three other large cities (the Memphis Pyramid, Nashville's AT&T Building, and the Tennessee Aquarium of Chattanooga) – was incorporated into the standard design of Tennessee's state-issued driver's licenses.
