I'm trying to decide how to best use these Truss tomatoes.
A delicious sandwich for a lazy Sunday lunch.
Rich tomato and basil soup...or simply as the star of my salad to accompany dinner tonight.
Built in 1900 for the Rock Island, the 4 span through truss bridge at Booneville would not make it beyond it's 120th birthday. The signs of what to come are visible in this 2019 view of the bridge. Eastbound manifest CBBI rolls across the span as the foreground has been cleared in preparation for the construction of a new deck girder bridge. By mid 2020 the new bridge was in service and the old span cut up.

Just a simple seed part build for a LUG challenge. Rather than one weird or obscure seed part, the challenge here was to make a small architectural build using some common pieces: at least 1x blue 2 x 4 brick, 2x black 4L bars, and 2x light bluish gray small antenna base with black lever.
The blue 2 x 4 bricks were turned sideways and used as a small water feature. 20 black 4L bars were used as columns at the base of the tower, using a technique where they're placed in the negative space between two vertical clips to fit 20 of them down there. The levers were used in two ways: 48 of them make up the trusses, wedged between grill tiles and the undersides of plates, and 4 more are used with bases on both ends to support the rooftop dish.
My first pass at this was way too bland with a lot of light and dark gray, so I decided to build it with NO gray (except for the seed part) instead.

Union Pacific ES44AC-H leads the MRVGR (Roseville, CA - Green River, WY manifest) east on Main 1 over the Truckee River and pass the truss bridge on Main 2 near Verdi, NV. 3rd unit from the front is a nice 'snoot nose' SD40N, No. 1636, getting a free ride for use on local / yard work - if only it was leading!

Spring Valley, IL five-span through truss bridge on IL Rt 89 spanning the Illinois River. This two lane highway bridge was constructed in 1934. The longest span (center) is 364 ft, overall length 1,775.1 ft.
Unfortunately, this beautiful riveted iron bridge is scheduled to be replace. Get your pictures now.

Old place in the Puyallup Valley....for some reason somebody tried like hell to shore the porch up there on the bottom left with trusses....I took this from a moving vehicle....I'll have to go back and trespass to get a better shot of this beauty!

After dropping their cars in a yard on the west side of the Muskingum River, the two Super7s cross the river again back toward their crew office.
Now a sight along the Milwaukee's third ward river walk, this movable truss swing bridge was constructed in 1915 so Chicago & Northwestern twin cities 400 passenger trains could cross the Milwaukee river. The train line was called the twin cities 400 based on the trains being able to cross from St. Paul to Chicago in 396 minutes. This bridge is currently non-functional and permanently parked in the open position.
