Now a sight along the Milwaukee's third ward river walk, this movable truss swing bridge was constructed in 1915 so Chicago & Northwestern twin cities 400 passenger trains could cross the Milwaukee river. The train line was called the twin cities 400 based on the trains being able to cross from St. Paul to Chicago in 396 minutes. This bridge is currently non-functional and permanently parked in the open position.

The current steel Truss bridge was built in 1911 by Cleveland Bridge and Engineering Company of Darlington, England
The art work on the bridge by Eldon Garnet consisted of a clock, which ceased to work and the mechanism and hands were removed in 2010. The phrase "this river I step in is not the river I stand in", taken from the philosophy of Heraclitus, is inscribed in large letters overarching the road. The bridge art is one part of a three site art piece, with the second part as words inscribed on the pavement at the intersections of Broadview avenue and Queen street, and the last part as four metal "banners" at Queen and Degrassi street - wikipedia

Just had to do the classic bike on the wood pile shot.
Believe it or not this scene is actually a night shot and was captured at 11pm. The scene was completely hand lit with a single moving light source during a long exposure.
I was told that nothing rides like a Jeff Jones bike. By god they were right ! I've ridden and raced bikes all my life and riding this is as if I have just discovered the joy of cycling for the very first time.

I'm a big fan of bridges and other massive chunks of infrastructure like tunnels and trains. The Astoria-Megler Bridge is one of my favorites. I always like a bridge with a superlative attached, such as, oldest, longest, first, only - that sort of thing. Completed in 1966, and spanning 4 miles of river, this is the longest continuous truss bridge n North America.

NS 2624 leads the 19G under the Rt 220 bridge over the main line near Tyrone. The fourth unit is one of the few SD45-2s.
Historic 19th-century bridge over a surviving section of original Erie Canal. Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve, Clifton Park, New York.
The Short Bridge spans the South Santiam River near Sweet Home, Oregon. The 105-foot Howe truss type bridge was built in 1945. It is named for Gordon Short, a long-time area resident. The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The old N&W / P&WV railroad bridge on a snowy February day, looking towards Connellsville Township, PA. This deteriorating landmark of Connellsville was completed by the American Bridge Company in February 1931. It completed a connection of the P&LE and P&WV Railroads, with a connection to the Western Maryland Railway also nearby. In 1964 the Norfolk & Western Railway began leasing the P&WV trackage. This arrangement worked out until 1975 when the Western Maryland Railway was abandoned, taking away most of the business for the N&W. In December 1975 the N&W abandoned this bridge for a new connection with the B&O Railroad. It has been determined that the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway now holds the lease for this bridge and right-of-way. The future is looking much brighter, as plans are moving ahead to renovate the bridge as a tourist attraction. It would feature LED lighting, widening the bridge to 86 feet with cantilevers, center bike lane, picnic tables, observation areas, seating, flowering gardens and vines. Some other details:
This was bridge # 0.09, because of the distance in feet from the interchange with P&LE Railroad. Total length of the bridge is 1397 feet, 6 inches. This includes 1 - 261' through truss, 1 - 68' through truss, 8 - 30' deck plate girders, 1 - 50' deck plate girder, 1 - 58' 6" deck plate girder, 8 - 60' deck plate girders, 2 - 120' deck plate girders. These stats are according to the official N&W track diagram from 1964.
The restored Félix-Gabriel-Marchand covered bridge (1898) in the Township of Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Quebec, Canada.
Originally built in 1898 at a cost of $6,000 by Augustus Brown of Beachburg, Ontario, it is the longest covered bridge in the province of Quebec.
It spans the Coulonge River near Fort-Coulonge at 148.66 metres (487.7 feet). It is a Town lattice truss bridge, a type of bridge which was patented in 1820 by American architect Ithiel Town (1784-1844).
This bridge is unique in Quebec because of its combination of Town and Queenpost trusses. It replaced two older bridges spanning the Coulonge River and linking the lumber camp on one shore to the village of Fort Coulonge on the other. Built entirely of pine and held up by six wooden pillars, the one-way bridge was covered so that it wouldn’t rot. Its architect was J.-N. Castonguay.
It was named after Félix-Gabriel Marchand (1832-1900), Prime Minister of Quebec from 1897 to 1900.
Restoration work started in 2018 (projected to last two years) by l’entreprise Pavages Chenail inc. at a cost of $5.1 millon.
It is registered as an historic building by the Quebec government.
