Trunk and part of roots of dead tree on a hill with young trees in background. Its close to "zajecze wzgorze" nature protected area in Sopot, Poland
The trunk, or proboscis, is a fusion of the nose and upper lip, although in early fetal life, the upper lip and trunk are separated. The trunk is elongated and specialised to become the elephant's most important and versatile appendage. It contains up to 150,000 separate muscle fascicles, with no bone and little fat.
I attached the trunk of my tree to a single piece of foliage. Then I laid the leafy circle on top of the single leaf on top of the trunk. Then I fastened it into place with a 3-leaf plant; the leaves of the plant trapped the circle into place.
For the dark green tree, I didn't have a matching colored plant to put on top. I sat the dark green leaf circle onto a single dark green leaf, which I had attached to a round, 4x4 dark green circle plate, which helped to fill in the middle of the tree. Then I just sat the leafy circle on top, and tried to hook it into the single leaf that was attached to the trunk. It was fairly stable, but not perfect.
First night out imaging after cloudy/rainy weather in the UK for the last 2 months.
I captured the Elephant Trunk Nebula in Cepheus. This nebula is a concentration of interstellar gas and dust. The bright rim is the surface of the dark cloud being ionised by the bright blue start HD 206267.
Captured with my William Optics FLT 91 and 6AIII 0.8x reducer over a 3h30m session.

Grand Trunk 6224 switches out customers at Port Hope, ON beside the former Grand Trunk station opened in 1856. The station is now owned by VIA Rail Canada but Ganaraska Model railroad takes care of the old station with a model train layout in the west side of the station. March 7 2022
I liked the twisting texture of this tree trunk, and it was an excuse to show off the bright blue sky.
What are these trees anyway?

The CN Grand Trunk Western heritage locomotive leads train Q116 around the Chicago Wye to get onto the Holly Subdivision in Durand, Michigan. Beyond the nose of the 8952 is a former GTW caboose that has been on display here for years.

The Trunk Space is a gallery / theatre / music venue / eclectic place, that fits in perfectly on Grand Avenue. But the coolest thing about it has to be the mural on the side of the building. Love this one!

Some binned SII and OIII...added to the Ha from the other day.
The OIII is weak link here...but I think it provides a background gradient...not well seen here.

Reprocess (version 2) here;
A generous amount of snow fell on the night of February 5th/6th 1986 and although the Island had several inches,the buses ran more or less as normal. The 1A route was crew operated at the time and ran between Ryde and Cowes via Newport. Here in Newports' bus station on the morning of February 7th,VRT number 641 awaits a crew to take it on to Cowes. After the Lodekka era finished in 1983,the series 2 VRs became the mainstay of this important trunk route; until of course their own demise.
