Black witches' butter (Exidia truncata - Eikentrilzwam) is one of those fascinating fungal appearances. In my country a very common, wood-rotting species, typically growing on dead attached branches of oak. © Tom Kisjes

Hoplitis truncata. An uncommon Hoplitis that shows up here and there, but never in large numbers. Not well known and its roll and preferences in the world of flowers is also unclear. This is a rather ratty male I collected somewhere near home...will have to keep my eyes open for additional specimens. Notice the little pointed tip on the ends of the antennae...something that a few Hoplitis share in their males. Why? Photography by Sydney Price

Ants from Colobopsis genre have a unique trait - frontally flattened heads which they use to close the entrance holes to their nest. As far as I know, only major workers and queens have that particular trait.

Updated photo of my truncata. I've had this specimen for about a year and a half now and this is the best it has ever done. The pitchers are getting bigger and popping up more frequently. I attribute most of these gains in growth to the most constitant conditions I have had to date in my terrarium. I'm able to achieve 82º daily which has been making all the plants [sans lowland neps wanting even higher temps/humidity] with a dead simple setup.

Popular Name: Fleur-de-May, Fleur-de-seda
Scientific Name: Schumbergera truncata (Haw.)
Family: Cactaceae.
Origin: Brazil.
Also known as the silk-flowers-and can reach 60 inches tall, Flores-de-May, cactus from Brazil, flowering between fall and winter in pink, red, white or yellowish, with a fantastic ornamental beauty gradient in their tones.
Although its name indicates the month of May, its flowering begins in April and may extend into July, but it really is the month of May it is the height of its splendor, and even become more popular for this Mother's Day flower shops in Brazil.
Fully disseminated throughout the world, this plant is sensitive to temperature and light intensity, like hot and humid climate, but the shade or semi-shade. In the northern hemisphere, flowering near the month of December. Its cultivation in pots requires some care, and does not fit, either, to environments with direct sunlight, but a plan is not difficult to treat. Plates are also indicated for your growing tree fern.
As has flowers, the land should receive fertilizer and watering weekly, or twice a week and then, when it finishes its flowering, Flores-de-May enter a dormant period, during which need to be watered only every ten days and kept in simple earth, without addition of fertilizers, but this time need a lot of light, unlike the period of their flowering, and should therefore be kept inside the house only when flowers.
In nature, requires little about the quality of the land, because it installs directly on the earth, and yes, looking for logs and wood chips to cling to.
A plant like this, as this can only convey the most audacious and beautiful feelings that man has. It is then shown to represent love in all forms of love as long as sincere. As this is a declaration of love characterized by the highest perfection.
Curiosity: The May-flowers are natural plants from specific regions in the forests north of the State of Rio de Janeiro and has delighted and fascinated observers drawn from around the world.
Nome popular: Flor-de-maio; Flor-de-seda
Nome científico: Schumbergera truncata (Haw.)
Família: Cactaceae.
Origem: Brasil.

According to PlantNET, Thelymitra ×truncata is a putative sporadic hybrid between Thelymitra ixioides and a member of the Thelymitra pauciflora complex. Apparently these hybrids can backcross to either parent, and as such may occur in populations containing a variety of column morphotypes, some of which correspond with no described species.
