This triggerfish was about 14 inches long. I've never thought they were particularly attractive when I've seen them in the wild. But they are quite unique looking in an aquarium. I was really fascinated by the teeth on this sucker. This is one fish I wouldn't want to bite me.

Strobist info: the diffused off camera flash was sitting on a cold shoe mount, and can be see in frame. It was set at 1/16 power and 35mm. It was triggered optically. The on camera flash did not fire. The camera was on a timer, triggered with a remote. It too a few tries to get the timing right.

The "D" isn't part of the logo part number stamping, but heck--it's implicit!
The "pad" primarily restricts the hammer, but the old, large ones were set up for the flat top safety, and can impede the round top units. Also, whether intentional or not, they're a "reservoir" of sorts for lubricant greas. Yes, most preservationists do use a grease residue on trigger groups.

Sound-triggered photo of balloon popping. Microphone is at right.
Since the trigger was attached to the flash and the shutter was left open, multiple loud sounds could trigger multiple flashes resulting in multiple exposures like this one.
Fashion alert: Note peculiar short-lived style of multiple layered jackets.
In 1982 I built a sound trigger based on an article that appeared in Modern Photography. More details here.
The sound trigger was hooked up to the flash. When a loud sound was picked up by the mike, the flash fired.
The camera's shutter was left open in a near-dark room.
