Starting a new personal series about ladies, fashion, home decor. This is the first! To be truthful, the blackish background was a total accident (trying to fill in the wrong layer!) but I kind of love it in a retro, Mary Blair-esque way. I need to explore black backgrounds more!
Thinking of submitting it to Tiny Showcase, but might use it instead as a thank-you print to give to art directors I've worked with. Be honest, what ought I do?
Looks best in all sizes.
Tricky lighting conditions here. I’ve had to do quite a bit of Photoshop balancing to get the detail in the highlights and shadows. Something I always have a personal debate about is just how much to push the highlights and recover the shadows. I’m particularly fond of contrast, but I realise that a good tonal range offers a much better representation of perceived reality. So this balance is personal taste, rather than technical exercise. Anyway as my choices change over the years, I think this type of thing will develop. I mean just take a look at my older similar images and you will see a movement towards more tonal range. Anyway, just proves to highlight the developing creative choices we all make over the years. Anyway, for me this image is working beyond the usual due to the contrast in the frozen puddle. Hope you like it!

So icy. My ice cleats are a must. It makes me think that the ice caves are going to gobble up the lighthouse.
Here we have DOE49 turning around at Worcester Park. This is the reason why the 151 cant get Ees yet because of the tight turns here.
The tank car on this train seemed to have a mind all its own with a little help from the fish-eye mode on my PowerShot :-)
tricky light conditions with dark shadows and harsh light at the same time made this awesome encounter with a Grey Fox and its prey a difficult task. Point Reyes, CA
Ynys Gored Goch ("Red Weir Island") is a small island in the Menai Strait in Wales. It's located in the Swellies, the central section of the strait between the Menai Suspension Bridge and the Britannia Bridge.
For centuries, travel to Anglesey from the mainland was often hazardous. Ferries traversed the Menai Straits at various places, but the currents are tricky and numerous boats capsized or ran aground, often with loss of life.
In 1819, civil engineer Thomas Telford began working on ambitious improvements to journey between London and the port of Holyhead. Recognising the danger to travellers that crossing the Straits involved, Telford designed a groundbreaking piece of civil engineering – the Menai Bridge. Completed on 30 January 1826, the Menai Bridge was a triumph of civil engineering – the biggest suspension bridge in the world at the time.
This shot was a bit tricky as those locos go like hell ! Nice to see a few class 1216's used on normal express services between Zilina and Praha. Originally they were intend for use on the Czech 'Railjet' sets

So a little bit on the gory side of things but when mint flavoured blood is present i had to use it for something!
There were so many times that i tripped/stumbled over rocks while scaling the beach!
Then I thought of what the worst case scenario would look like.!
Thanks Joel for supplying the minty fresh blood :)
We'll i was up before the sun and out for a Sunday morning shoot and happened upon this Heron now i was on a dock with railings and could not move forward or backup, and he was already less than 10' away and quite content on staying that close which made focusing tricky with a prime lens , Cheers Paul

This little guy was tricky to pin down as he flew from one side of the park to the other, as soon as he saw us coming. It pays to be patient and stay in one place for awhile because to our surprise he came back to the very same tree and we were able to bag a pretty nice shot.
Green herons are one of the few species of animal known to use tools. In particular, they commonly use bread crusts, insects, or other items as bait. The bait is dropped onto the surface of a body of water in order to lure fish. When a fish takes the bait, the green heron will then grab and eat the fish.

The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy just joined my Midi-Scale ship collection! Here comes the Millennium Falcon from Episode IV – A New Hope.
Made of 2,178 pieces, measuring only 34cm and weighing almost 1kg, this compact yet dense Falcon was another unique challenge at this scale. After seeing some great-looking Figscale MOCs of this tricky ship, I couldn't resist making a Midi version.
With this design, I took a different approach than most other Falcons out there, and wanted it to look as sleek and gapless as possible. This resulted in a pretty elaborate and unique mix of paneling techniques that involved a lot of SNOT building.
One of my priorities was to faithfully reproduce the curved saucer shape on both sides of the ship, and not only on top. As a result, the build features all the details and shapes of the original 1977 studio model, from top to bottom.
The overall thickness of the ship was another concern. I wanted it to be as thin as the original, while being able to sandwich some tasty greebles and even the hyperdrive engine bay inside the saucer.
The Falcon has two display modes, "in-flight" with its canted stand, and "landed" with easy-to-install landing gear. It also includes a working ramp.

Fixing that lining was the tricky part (for me) as I was assigned to do the machine stitching part (and hemming where required)
I like the colour combination.
Giving it a rectangular bottom was a good idea as it will make it easier for a child to search for an item inside the bag.
Now she says she is going to make more like these and put it on Etsy.
