I was so lucky to get this shot , a few days ago I went out onto my balcony and the Sun was just before setting, the light of which was beaming across the plants and that's when I noticed a small patch of moss with those little extremities, where the light was actually now illuminating them, they looked like miniature organic street lamps.

With literally minutes to get it together, I first tried using the Tamron with the Raynox but it was a little too close at 70mm, so I then tried the Nikkor 55-200mm again with the Raynox and brought down the ISO to achieve the glow without blowing out the detail. It was a little tricky as the lens was balanced on the side of the pot to get the angle achieved.

Anyway, I think I got there in the end!

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

HBM..!! Have a great day.. thanks for looking..

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a blue day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Looking close on Friday is Silhouette. I must admit: silhouettes are always difficult to achieve in my case. My tiny "studio" isn’t the perfect setup for background light so I have to improvise…

And today, we have Mr. Monkey how is very happy and ecstatic to see a levitating Mr. Egg. Mr. Monkey loves watching the moon. So Mr. Egg reminds him of those beautiful full moon nights in the jungle, when the moon light has this beautiful dark blue hue… Mr. Monkey was, then, a baby living with his siblings and sleeping in an old wooden barrel (actually, it was made of plastic but I swear it looked like wood…those Chinese imitations are very tricky !). Of course, right now, Mr. monkey lives in a city, very, very far away from the jungle… But you know what they say: you can take a monkey out of the jungle but you can’t take the jungle out of the monkey. The jungle will be in Mr. Monkey’s heart forever…

Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day !

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!!

……In my music room there are numerous ‘misfits’ if things were to get a little mixed up! This genre crossing LP selection here has a misfit in many ways - Red to Black is obvious but Tricky & Bach are composers that are poles apart, as are Tricky’s Flame Red ‘The Hell EP’ and Black four LP set of ’St Matthew Passion’ by Bach that I used to take the shot. All done for Macro Monday’s theme of ‘Misfit’ - which would you choose??? HMM while you ponder, Alan:-)…….

But I Fly

I was out chasing time, never enough, always in the red.

Then she flew into my way, for a day, a week, I hoped she would stay. She fluttered and flirted and messed around with my head. She wanted to stay, but me and a butterfly, how could that be, no way.

I offered her friendship and food, but she huffed and she puffed, and she just flew away.

I couldn’t let her go looking so sad, she seemed so cross, so very mad. She saw me running as she headed into the mist, and she laughed, and said, “You run well, but I fly” and she was gone.

I chased here there, but there was nothing to see, just shadows and thoughts till I couldn’t decide, was I chasing the butterfly, or chasing the mist.

I have caught time, but it always gets away. I have had fun with the butterflies, but the mist is no friend to me. It is tricky, as it turns and it twists.

With mist, it is always a risk, as what you reach for and grab, is never really there, and in the end, you just risk falling or crashing over a cliff. If she is a friend of the mist, then my butterfly I have missed.

When I stepped out of the fog, she was right there, on our favorite log.

Thoughts! by Kimi Eleonara

Well this was the beginning of a 5.5 mile hike on the west fork of Oak Creek. It has 13 stream crossings and it was a howling wind that morning. Some of the creek crossings were easy as they were frozen, some were more tricky. This was one of the earlier ones on the hike. Kris..

This is the descent down swirral edge from Helvellyn, it is steep and the path/pebbles are very slippy...my knees are still cursing me!! The peak in the distance at the edge of the ridge is Catstye Cam

Yes, Dickey Falls is the actual name of this falls!! It was tough to capture as I had to stop on the side of the highway and walk down the bank to a clearing and shoot from across the river. This was the clearest shot I could get. I shot some up closer but liked the way the hill crossed in the foreground and kind of led you into the falls. The close up was just rock and water. Kris.

A short interruption to come back to 2023. Here is a Brown Thrasher, the first time I remember getting a clear photograph of one. Filmed at the Cruickshank Sanctuary. This one was not at all tricky to glimpse as it was singing in this dead tree. Yes I was shocked to see it and wasn't sure with the ID until I got home. I checked eBird and there have been many sightings and 12 photos posted from Cruickshank of the Brown Thrasher. Of course, I was there to see the Florida Scrub Jay, some of the few remaining live in Cruickshank scrub. I'll get back to that shortly.

From Cornell -

It can be tricky to glimpse a Brown Thrasher in a tangled mass of shrubbery, and once you do you may wonder how such a boldly patterned, gangly bird could stay so hidden. Brown Thrashers wear a somewhat severe expression thanks to their heavy, slightly downcurved bill and staring yellow eyes, and they are the only thrasher species east of Texas. Brown Thrashers are exuberant singers, with one of the largest repertoires of any North American songbird.

The minions had never ever not even once thought that eyeballs were candy until they heard a group of people speaking appreciatively about eye candy.

It was decided on the spot.

They frantically surfed the dark web and found a crew with a truck who eagerly agreed to collect and deliver every single eyeball they could find.

Don't ask.

So this year for Halloween, the minions are passing out eye candy to all the trick or treaters.

The trick or treaters are passing out.

Report from a photo trip to Lofoten - 19

This is a panorama composed of two photos. They show Storsandnes Beach near Leknes on Lofoten. A panorama of the aurora is a little tricky. The northern lights change noticeably between the two photos if the exposure time is too long, and then the partial images no longer match. It took me several attempts to finally get an acceptable panorama.

The image shows the view to the north. The constellation of the Big Dipper can be spotted here pretty much in the middle of the sky in the reddish part of the aurora.

Trying to land on a very bendy reed can be a tricky business!

I'm showing you what's possible with an old, broken emergency laptop and Gimp (my main computer died) so photography in SL isn't impossible, just more...challenging. I crashed several times trying to take this as my potato objected to the shadows.

Its actually a great week for RPers in SL - Fantasy Fair is now open with many sims to explore. Several of the Engine Room creators are present too.

For Looking Close on Friday theme 'Toy Cars'.

Any resemblance to the iconic ending of Ridley Scott's 1991 film Thelma and Louise is purely intentional. But lacking a backdrop shot of the American West, I've had to substitute an image looking north to the Isle of Raasay from Skye.

I've had this idea for quite some time, but lacked an appropriate model car. When this theme came up, I checked out the local junk shop and found a model Mini Cooper and VW Beetle, neither of which were suitable. So went all out and 'shelled out' for this beautiful little Corgi MGB model convertible, never mind that it isn't a Thunderbird. A tricky part was finding snails that would be able to fit into the seats.

The weather remains total carp on Skye, with little respite from the generally poor conditions, so fortunately I have my snails to play with. Thanks to Maria for this week's theme - I've had hours of fun...

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.
