Not sure what this Tri-colored Heron had its eye on, but it wasn’t paying any attention to me as it focused on what was just ahead. Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou.

Our local Cable Bridge is usually white in color, but for the Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, the color has been changed to green. I purchased a Zeiss Batis 18mm lens and this was the first shot I was able to take with it. I am very happy with the quality of the lens. Thanks for looking!
My second entry into the 2020 Summer Joust! This time for the tri-color category. The three colors used here are light bluish gray, transparent red and transparent yellow. (That includes the flex tubing in the vaulted ceiling.)
My family took a trip to France last summer where we averaged one cathedral visit a day – around 15 different churches in all – and I've wanted to recreate some of the gothic architecture and of course the fantastic effect of the stained glass windows ever since. Playing with transparent parts and back-lighting struck me as the perfect way to capitalize on the color limitation of this category, so this was the first build I started on. For the sake of realism, the windows do in fact depict the Easter story, albeit in a very abstracted form by necessity.
Next up: collab entries! Which may or may not still be under construction, so wish me luck...

On the southeastern coastal plain, the Tricolored Heron is a characteristic bird of quiet shallow waters. Strikingly slender, with long bill, neck, and legs, it is often seen wading belly-deep in coastal lagoons. Although it is solitary in its feeding, it is sociable in nesting, often in very large colonies with various other herons and egrets. Formerly known as Louisiana Heron.

Het is December; het weer is koud, de dagen kort, en de kerstmarkten draaien weer op volle toeren. Zeker op zaterdag zijn er vele mensen die ook per trein de verschillende kerstmarkten in NRW bezoeken. Aangezien dat ook aardig wat drukte met zich mee brengt en de treinen die al rijden normaal al vaak overvol zijn mocht TRI op onder andere zaterdag 6 December de RE1 van Dortmünd naar Köln verstevigen met 2 extra treinen. Een van die treinen bleek met een verbleekte 111 van DBG te rijden, maar de ander werd getrokken en geduwd door de 110 448! Deze loc die inmiddels al bijna een jaartje in gebruik is bij TRI is in de oude donkerblauwe huisstijl teruggebracht wat samen met de blauw-witte TRI n-Wagens voor een prachtig geheel zorgt. Rede genoeg om weer eens de D-Ticket te activeren!
Die middag werd als eerst de SSN Kerstexpress vastgelegd, die werd getrokken door een blinkende 111. Daarna besloten ik en mn groepje een beetje in Köln rond te hangen waar uiteindelijk nog een 218 en een paar Railbussen werden vastgelegd, om uiteindelijk TRI te nemen naar Düsseldorf. Waar ik van plan was voor vertrek nog snel een plaatje te maken.
Aangezien de vertraging die we hadden opgelopen zou het alleen wel spannend worden of dat zou lukken, maar aangezien ik toch de RE13 terug naar Nederland moest nemen besloot ik er toch maar een sprintje voor te trekken naar het tegenovergelegen perron, met succes!
Om 16:56 staat de trein vol met Kerstmarkt bezoekers vertrekgereed in Düsseldorf HBF, aangezien de trein nog even moest wachten voor een rood sein was er nog tijd genoeg om rustig een plaatje te kunnen maken. Uiteindelijk werdde EC 8 nog afgewacht, die inmiddels nog maar een weekje worden gereden met 101 + SBB rijtuigen, maar helaas mocht dat niet lukken. Toch kan er nog redelijk tevreden worden teruggekeken op een geslaagde en gezellige dag vol met Altbau!

TriColored Heron
Tricolored Heron populations declined slightly between 1966 and 2014, according to the North American Breeding Bird Survey. The North American Waterbird Conservation Plan estimates a U.S. breeding population of less than 194,000 birds, rates the species a 15 out of 20 on the Continental Concern Score, and lists it as a Species of High Concern. Tricolored Heron is not on the 2014 State of the Birds Watch List.
Op 15 januari werd er een dagje aan de Rijn besteed. Er was grote drukte aan de rechterkant en dus genoeg te zien. Zo ook deze TRI 182 560 met de fraaie mauerfall bestickering die hier met rijtuigen voor de Urlaubs express Linz passeert onderweg naar Düsseldorf. De trein rijdt als ersatzzug voor de RB40.
