As name checked in the Blur song 'Best Days' from The Great Escape

West London, 2013.

Seemingling loved and loathed in equal measure, Tellick Tower is one of London's most famous examples of Brutalist archictecture.

Designed for the GLC by Ernő Goldfinger based on his own Balfron Tower, it was completed in 1972. As a result of the 1980s 'right to buy' policy it now contains a combination of social and private housing. The latter of which are highly sought.

While some, including Prince Charles, a noted critic of brutalism, would like to see the tower demolished, it is a listed building. This gives it legal protection on the grounds of architectural or local interest.

Yes, the Camera lied. The demolition sign instead referred to a residential care home that stood between the Tower and Elkstone Road. The scaffolding on the side of the tower does help give that false impressions that it is coming down.

The photo needed a lot of perspective correction, and so cropping. It looks better for it, although I probably could do with a proper tool for the job as it has highlighted a problem with barrel distortion.

West London.
