...and whatever happens to creep into the background : )

My feet, for size comparison purposes. :)

There was this massive fallen tree in the same field as the one that held all the wild flowers.

A sign of the ferocity of previous storms? Or just old age?

Brings to mind the old saw "If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one is there to hear it ...... does it make a sound?"

Looking up the trunk of one of the trees in our backyard.

Melting ice on a tree trunk. The white in the background is more ice all over the ground.

What a lovely day. It was windy, yes. But lovely sunny. Since I'm working on Friday, I decided to go for a strawl with Thijs. In front of the photo is a tree trunk, in the back two birds I do not know the name of, but they're sunbathing. They look funny.

A huge tree trunk uptown, near Touro infirmary. I can't imagine how old this tree must have been. It reminded me of one of those displays that national parks have with the cross section of a sequoia tree that's been cut so you can see all the rings. Also notice the utility pole bent at a 45 degree angle.

Loved this gnarly old tree trunk I spotted when out snapping spring flowers the other day. It made a change from all the pretty. The fungus, new growth. Age and youth.
