Roscoe smith preserved some white chestnut trunks in the 40's to construct a hall using them as pillars. WWII put the kybosh on those plans. The trunks are now used in the farm equipment exhibit.

One of the trees that grows around our carpark at work has these beautiful colouring and markings on the trunk.

You can't see them in the photos but there is a line of ants that scurries up and down all day long

We watched this trunk wobbling in the breeze and wondered how long it would remain before it plunged into the river below! Lets hope it remains adding its character to the view for many years to come.
