E quell'autentica emozione che profuma di bellezza, che provo quando qualche piccolo percorso della vita giunge al termine, o segna una fine momentanea, e lo fa nel migliore dei modi, persino al di là di quanto avevo sperato. Sono i lieto fine. I baci, gli abbracci, le occhiate sorridenti, i "bravo" pronunciati sommessamente, la soddisfazione di chi per me è importante. Siamo le aspettative che generiamo negli altri. E l'errore che commettiamo, trascinati dai ritmi di relazioni solo sfiorate, è quello di rimanere schiavi di quelle aspettative. E smettiamo di sapere chi siamo. Rimaniamo da parte, come dall'altro lato della strada, a rimirare un riflesso, un'ombra, un cono di luce. Ad osservare noi stessi e quello che eravamo, mentre continuiamo a voler essere solo ciò che gli altri si aspettano da noi. E a un certo punto la luce si spegne.

La scelta della luce, in questa nebbia di oscurità che sale come un lenzuolo, appena dietro gli angoli dei tuoi occhi. La scelta della luce è coraggio, a volte è incoscienza, o forse spregiudicatezza. È reazione di spinta, è opporsi all'onda, è andare avanti col peso sulle spalle.
E quanti ne ho incontrati che, tra luce e oscurità, hanno scelto la penombra, giudicandosi saggi ma erano soltanto vinti dalla più primitiva paura.

Le scelte coincidono con gli eventi. Accade quello che si è pronti ad accogliere, come la parola tolta di bocca quando già la lingua la stava facendo vibrare, nell'aria. Come le radici dell'albero, che non scavano il terreno perché è il terreno a lasciar loro un vuoto da riempire.

Mi ha spiegato il senso dell'illusione e mi ha offerto il peso della delusione. Mi ha raccontato la bellezza e lo schifo, la grandezza e la miseria, l'amore e l'indifferenza.
A questo cielo devo tutto, anche quando mi opprime e non è più per me aria e luce. Per questo, ovunque andrò, io cercherò questo cielo in ogni cielo del mondo, e le mie cime, amate con abbracci di aria dall'infanzia ad ogni mio invecchiare. E il mio cuore respirerà sempre qui, anche quando penso e mi dico che io odio questo posto.
