Belgium - December 2022 - High Fens

I don't often take macro pictures, but every once in a while, if the opportunity arises, I find it very amusing.

The frost was particularly marked that morning (lots of humidity, and -7 to -10 °C), all the branches were covered. I also got a little lost with all these details (my fingertips were starting to freeze by the way).

In this photo I wanted to keep the background as blurry as possible, wanting to emphasize the thin / pointed side of the different flakes / bits of frost, these "blades" that go in all directions. Maybe I should have made a focus stack of lots of photos, at the time it seemed good to me (it will be for next time).

A little "abstract", I hope you like it!

On our way back from our sunset at Jokulsarlon, what a nice surprise we had!

A Northern Light just above our camp. We barely had time to park our car that we tried to take a picture of what we saw.

It was very intense and didn't last long, but it's still beautiful, and it was the first time I saw an aurora borealis.

Note that it is not easy to take pictures of the aurora, since you have to manage to focus when there is little light, and you need good exposure to prevent the aurora from being too "blurry".

First try, it is surely not perfect, but it's certainly a good memory

My sister found these blue acorns for me. Nature is so surprising and has such magical powers to intrigue us, delight us, and move us. Each day of my life I am surprised or delighted by something I see in nature.

I have no idea what tree these are from. But, they are a true blue and sport a Beatles 1960’s hair style.

Glorious Madness!!!

"Camera Obscura" is a digital photograph of the image of our backyard created by the sunlight shining through a simple homemade, cardboard pinhole lens set into the window frame of my son Jake's bedroom. A "shelter in place" photography project.

The light in this enchanted forest somewhere in Northern Finland can be truly special. I could spend whole day there just photographing the beautiful trees. Just magical. . . .

Certainly the most original trek in this National Park - The Narrows.

After 2 hours of 'water hiking', objective was met; the floating rock; one of the iconic place of this trek.

I Think you could go there and take thousands of different point of views as there are so many possibilities, with all those curves, tones, water motion, ... I'll get back there one day !

Certainly the most original trek in this National Park - The Narrows; it follows the gorges created by the "Virgin Rvier", in the middle of Zion Valley. It is possible to walk in the middle of the huge red walls for several hours going upstream (10-15 miles). The difficulties here are; srong flow at certain places, cold air, and above all, the walk in fresh water, reaching to the knees and occasionally almost to the waist. (It is also preferred to find something that can serve us as a stick in order to get stability).

Winter vibes

Just came back from a 2 days trip from the High Fens. Perfect conditions ; there was some mist, frost and lots of snow ; what else is needed ?

I quickly edited this shot, in fact, there was not a lot to do.

I adjusted a bit the tint (I found it was a bit pinkish)

A makeshift wooden ladder propped up against a stone wall. My childhood was filled with stuff like this. Adventure around every corner, secrets hiding in every pile of leaves. Monsters lurking behind every dark patch of trees. Magic and mystery are everywhere, as long as you never stop looking for them.

Magic canary sunset. The La Orotava pine forest with the Teide on the left.

Tuscany is a region in central Italy with an area of about 23,000 square kilometres (8,900 sq mi) and a population of about 3.8 million inhabitants (2013). The regional capital is Florence (Firenze).

Tuscany is known for its landscapes, traditions, history, artistic legacy and its influence on high culture. It is regarded as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and has been home to many figures influential in the history of art and science, and contains well-known museums such as the Uffizi and the Pitti Palace.

Tuscany produces wines, including Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino. Having a strong linguistic and cultural identity, it is sometimes considered "a nation within a nation".

Seven Tuscan localities have been designated World Heritage Sites: the historic centre of Florence (1982); the historical centre of Siena (1995); the square of the Cathedral of Pisa (1987); the historical centre of San Gimignano (1990); the historical centre of Pienza (1996); the Val d'Orcia (2004), and Medici Villas and Gardens (2013).

I returned to Tuscany after several years during a prolonged August weekend to explore famous hilltop settlements and enjoy Chianti & Montepulciano red wines.

The rolling landscape of Tuscany offer endless possibilities of finding a perfect view, fine scene, and beautiful atmosphere.
