My own consecutive frames of a mistle thrush (turdus viscivorus). As you may gather from the first frame, the bird had just taken off.
A couple of these thrushes had been having a 'rattling' argument about who 'owned' a nearby rowan tree!
Captures taken 16th December, 2014 with a Canon EOS 550D at 1/4000 sec, 400mm focal length. Would have liked to be closer, but I'm pleased with the result.
Thanks for all views, comments and fave adds.
A brilliant sweep of the Milky Way arcs across the night sky above silhouetted pine trees. Captured far from city lights, the scene reveals the dense star fields and structure of our galaxy, with a faint satellite streaking through the frame. A moment of cosmic stillness in nature’s darkest hours.
An evening walk through Hudson Mills Metro Park in early spring. Signs of returning life are obvious. Birds singing, frogs peeping, mosses turning green...
Reflections in the water of the still leafless trees capture the blue in the skies.

Sky was partially cloudy but tower bells silhouette mixed with trees captured my attention.

Tree on a mountain? Nope just a tall tree captured from the poppet head in Rosalind Park :)

Photo of Big Lagoon, looking west towards the Pacific Ocean (which is on the other side of the thin strip of land and on the other side of the trees), captured on the Big Lagoon Bridge on U.S. Highway 101, the Redwood Highway, via Minolta MD Rokkor-X 50mm F/1.7 lens and the bracketing method of photography in the census-designated place of Big Lagoon. Humboldt County. Late November 2014.
An upward view of a towering tree captures the essence of life's journey, where each branching path represents choices, challenges, and growth. The climb to the highest branches reflects the ultimate spiritual pursuit—a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the beauty of striving toward the light.
Again, it’s Sunday evening, and today again, I had an excellent day out in the “neighborhoods” of Zurich. Going for a short hike in the snow, reading and above all, sleeping in the sun. What else is needed?
Half way on the way home - clouds are covering the sky by now - between Sihlsee (Gerard: thanks for pointing that out for me) and Zurich, this lonely tree captured my attention. As it was quite far away I had to go for the “minimalist landscape” approach. Walking a little bit up and down the road, looking for the right background. Facing the (hidden) sun directly, resulted in a beautiful mauve evening sky: ZEN.

Experimental: I've been experimenting recently with shutter speeds, and in this image, I was trying to capture both the stars and the light of a campfire. The flickering fire reflected beautifully off of the trees, capturing the feeling of camping under the stars.
Photograph of a forest enshrouded in thin mist, with the blinding sun shining from behind the trees. Captured in the forests of Gmina Kolbudy, Poland.

Some pink flowering ornamental trees captured this spring and painted up in brownish tones.
Original image captured with iPhone and Olloclip Macro Lens. It was edited on the iPad first in Snapseed then painted up in a bunch of apps then layered with blend modes and opacity settings and some textures were also applied.

To the Celts and many other peoples of the old world, certain trees held special significance as a fuel for heat, cooking, building materials and weaponry. In addition to this however, many woods also provided a powerful spiritual presence. The specific trees varied between different cultures and geographic locations, but those believed to be "sacred" shared certain traits. Unusual size, beauty, the wide range of materials they provided, unique physical characteristics, or simply the power of the tree's spirit could grant it a central place in the folklore and mythology of a culture. Even our modern culture finds that certain trees capture our imagination. The mighty oak, the mystical yew and so many others are reminders of the power that trees have on our lives.
Trees are living things, filled with the essence and energy and of the Elementals and Mother Earth with an aura of power which is visible to those who are in total balance and harmony. The lore which surrounds a particular tree or wood often reflects the power the old ones sensed and drew from their presence.
Texture thanks a lot to Sistax.

I illustrated the principles of balance and emphasis in this image. I caused the sense of balance by catching the sun at the right angle through the tree capturing the lens flare around the sun thus creating balance.
The image was clearly caught through a tree but on the other side of the tree was the school parking lot so the sun setting over the school was caught through a tree. It felt like the end of a day through the barrier of home and school.
I feel like the capturing of the lens flare and emphasis of the light in the center was done well and helped tie the image together.
I feel if I had been a little better with the timing and balance of my camera it could have been a clearer shot . Also being a little bit higher up over the center branch and caught the sun at a better angle over the branch to seem like the horizon.
