A young elk calf spies the photographer through the woods near Sprague Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park. In the first few weeks after birth, the mother elk keep the young calves in the woods to help them hide from predators, as they are still too young to outrun most of them.

The Vicenza Military Community kicks off the holiday season with the traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec. 5.

The event started with the Holiday Art activities at the Arts Center, the Vicenza High School Band and Choir, Holiday Music with the Coro Associazione Nazionale Alpini from Creazzo and Santa’s arrival on the Fire Truck. Other activities including photos with Santa and a VCC Tree auction at the post library followed the ceremony.

14 August 2009, Baram Forest very close to Israel's border with Lebanon. This is a small un-named tributary of Nahal Tzivon. The creek is dry except when it rains. The picture is not distorted. That's the shape of the creek bed.
