Its taken me ages to settle on a new design but at last I have it!

Actually, about 4 trees in tight formation...

The baobab, baobabs, baobab trees or calabaceiras (Adansonia) are a tree genus with eight species, six natives of the island of Madagascar, one of Africa and the Middle East and Australia. The species found in Africa, Adansonia digitata, also exists in Madagascar.

The baobab is the national tree of Madagascar and the national emblem of Senegal.

It is a tree which reaches heights of 5 to 25 m (exceptionally 30 m), and up to 7m trunk diameter (exceptionally 11m). It stands out for water storage capacity inside the trunk, which can reach up to 120,000 liters.

The baobabs develop in seasonally arid areas, and are deciduous trees, dropping their leaves during the dry season. Some are reputed to be many thousands of years, but as the wood does not produce growth rings, it is impossible to verify: few botanists give any credence to these claims of extreme age.

In Brazil there are few trees Baobab, which were brought by African priests and were planted in specific places for the worship of African religions. In Candomblé is considered a sacred tree (Osse, in Yoruba and akpassatin in fon), and should never be cut or torn.

In the city of Forest Nísia the Baobab is located in the central area, one of the attractions of the region. The tree that presents with its majestic and imposing forms diameter is 10 meters and it is estimated that it has 138 years of life.

An important thing to remember is that even though pixel sizes keep getting smaller and smaller, the technology is advancing, so the smaller pixels are more efficient at collecting light. For instance, the Sony A7rII is back-illuminated which allows more photons to hit the sensor. Semiconductor technology is always advancing, so the brilliant engineers are always improving the signal/noise ratio. Far higher pixel counts, as well as better dynamic ranger, are thus not only possible, but the future!

View your artistic mission into photography as an epic odyssey of heroic poetry! Take it from Homer in Homer's Odyssey: "Tell me, O muse, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy. Many cities did he visit, and many were the nations with whose manners and customs he was acquainted; moreover he suffered much by sea while trying to save his own life and bring his men safely home; but do what he might he could not save his men, for they perished through their own sheer folly in eating the cattle of the Sun-god Hyperion; so the god prevented them from ever reaching home. Tell me, too, about all these things, O daughter of Jove, from whatsoever source you may know them. " --Samuel Butler Translation of Homer's Odyssey

This photo was taken in the fall of 2015. I was on a hiking trail outside Smiths Falls, Ontario Canada.

The old tree at välsta. One day late this time. Very foggy this morning. But not cold, 0 C. For my a photo a week project. I was early this time. Two people out walking their dog 100 meters ahead of me, but you can't see them because of the weather.

Kevin called this morning around 6:30 saying it was very foggy on Springfield Rd. The temperature this morning was about 10 degrees and there was a wonderful frost on all the trees as well. The Mackinaw River valley had good visibility but on top of the hill - south of the river - it was foggy. The tree sits on top of the hill north of the river so it wasn't much to look at fog-wise. There was some interesting ice in the tree so I thought I'd make some black and white images.
