Some very challenging conditions down at Derwentwater this morning with frequent showers to give photographers and camera gear a regular soaking. Was good to bump into Shaun Derby again this morning at the lake side. I even managed to bag a few shots without raindrops on my filters. All in all a good couple of hours :-)

This tree looked to be alone on the mountainside. When you looked up, it was not alone with the company of clouds and moon.
old trees know
how to be
how to sway in the breeze
how to shimmer in the sun
how to dance in the rain
how to watch the world go ‘round n ‘round
and be strong
and grow old gracefully
just to be
a tree

In the beauty, among the trees
Face caressed by the summer breeze
Hear the birds sing in the skies
See the clouds, float past your eyes
Walk between the spreading trees
Feel the lovely summer breeze
That falls upon your waiting face
As past you, beauty it does race

On the hills just above Sheffield, if I recall correctly. Pulled from the "is it worth putting on flickr?" folder.

One last image from last weekend and my wander around a field near Plumpton trying out a few infrared images. Its a style of photography that is interesting, perhaps not everyone's cup of tea. It is always interesting to hear peoples thoughts on the images, so please feel free to comment.

The trailing edge of a thick bank of cloud associated with a weather front that had caused murky damp condtions all day - but cleared just in time for a spectacular sunset.
It was a more or less starry night when I decided to take my camera to go out at midnight. When I arrived at the top of the small hill the full moon and the upcoming clouds created an interesting atmosphere which I tried to capture in this picture.

We spent a little over 12 hours in the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, and it was a very productive, but restless time. Having shot in the wee hours of the morning through sunrise and dead tired on the drive out, this scene caught my eye. It couldn't be passed up.
Thanks for looking!
