Taken with Argus C3 on Fuji Superia film
A Traverse City Asylum building, part of a sprawling complex of buildings left vacant for years. Recently some of the fine old structures have been refurbished and repurposed. This one and others remain huantingly empty and are in need of significant repair.
We ended up traversing around this cirque, to the saddle.

6/4/10 - Did I mention that I hate traverses? And with my fear of being high on the rock, you'd think I'd actually like something that involved climbing sideways, close to the ground. But no, not me; that would just be too easy! Strangely I seem to get just as scared on traverses, even though if I took my foot off the rock, 9 times out of 10, I'd be able to step off the climb to the safety of the ground! Yes, that is right, my head makes absolutely no sense at all.
This was at Rocher des Potêts in Trois Pignons forest on Yellow Circuit no 38. Rocher des Potêts suited me well, as most of the boulders were not even twice my height... *laughs*

The Grand Traverse Lighthouse dates from 1853 but is no longer active. It is in Leelanau State Park, about 5 miles north of Northport, Michigan, on the west side of Grand Traverse Bay. The Grand Traverse Light Station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 (#84001799).

This was actually on the way back, after we decided it was getting too dark to do the last two pitches. Also, traverses are heady and I worried about folks.
