Ptarmigan Traverse, first "draft" copy
This Blurb book was created as memorabilia for the four of us on the trip, the colors used on the book's cover and spine paying homage to Fred Beckey’s guide book containing the classic route description. It was my first time using Blurb's Photo Wrap on a cover instead of a dust jacket, the first time doing a few full page photo bleeds, and first time doing a two page spread panorama. All looks great, now after correcting a few minor mistakes off to the printer again and into the hands of my eagerly awaiting customers, all photographers and shining stars within our book.

One of the photos from when I went to Frankfort and Traverse City, Mi. I brought my tripod for the two day trip thinking I would use it for filming. But I was mobile most of the time and really didn't need it. The room at the hotel had a back door that was literally right on the beach. So I brought my tripod just to take a sunset photo from the back porch.

A brief bit of sun peeks out on an otherwise cold and blustery Sunday AM. This is shot from a fifth-floor balcony looking north on Grand Traverse Bay.
I was pretty lucky in getting to see the dramatic sunrise on my family vacation at Traverse City. This is a view of the Marina at the Traverse City, MI downtown.
This is a handheld 5-exposure HDR. It is definitely hard to handheld for 5 shots. But I did use the custom function menu to set up the camera for 2 more exposure and I definitely owe this to Klaus Herrmann. Check out his blog

Technical info : Used ACR to do color correction and defringing and converted to TIFF. Then merged all 5 exposures in Photomatix and tonemapped using details enhancer. USed Topaz denoise to reduce noise and Topaz Adjust to enhance color and then Photoshop for curves adjustment and levels. Finally, sharpened using High-pass filter.
It does look like Flickr has desaturated the colors and also some sharpness. Press "L" to view in large.
