The USGS benchmark, specifiesTrapper's elevation at 10, 157 feet above sea level, but does not name the peak. We found a second benchmark on the summit which had the name Trapper engraved upon it, but no elevation.

About 5 miles in on Day 1 we came across Muskrat Lake and this old, turn-of-the-century fur trapper's cabin. It made a nice spot for a breather (since Becca was leading and apparently in a race against time) and some photos.

A trappers hut at Grøndalen, Spitsbergen This was the main residence for a trapper. In addition they used to have smaller huts further away where they took shelter when looking after their traps
