--La Torre Glòries, anteriormente denominada Torre Agbar (2005), es un moderno edificio de oficinas situado en la entrada del 22@. Es obra del arquitecto francés Jean Nouvel, que se inspira en las imágenes de un géiser, de la arquitectura de Gaudí y de la montaña de Montserrat.
--Levantada a partir de dos cilindros de hormigón de planta elíptica, uno en el interior del otro, la Torre Agbar mide 142 metros de altura. El recubrimiento interior es una plancha de aluminio lacada con tonos tierra, azules, verdosos y grises. El exterior es un muro transparente y translúcido compuesto por unas 60.000 láminas de vidrio. Gracias a esta doble fachada se crea una cámara de aire que permite que el calor del edificio se reparta facilitando la ventilación. Los cristales utilizados son piezas de brie-soleil, un sistema que controla los rayos de sol en función de la temperatura exterior.
--Estas características hacen de la Torre Agbar un edificio original, inteligente y sostenible. Destaca especialmente las noches del fin de semana, cuando los 4.500 puntos de luz LED encienden la fachada de colores.
--Torre Glòries, previously called Torre Agbar (2005), is a modern office building located at the entrance to 22@. It is the work of the French architect Jean Nouvel, who is inspired by the images of a geyser, Gaudí's architecture and the Montserrat mountain.
--Built from two elliptical concrete cylinders, one inside the other, the Agbar Tower measures 142 meters high. The interior coating is a lacquered aluminum sheet with earth, blue, greenish and gray tones. The exterior is a transparent and translucent wall made up of about 60,000 sheets of glass. Thanks to this double façade, an air chamber is created that allows the heat of the building to be distributed, facilitating ventilation. The glasses used are pieces of brie-soleil, a system that controls the sun's rays depending on the outside temperature.
--These characteristics make the Agbar Tower an original, intelligent and sustainable building. It especially stands out on weekend nights, when the 4,500 LED light points illuminate the colorful façade.

El Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio Kursaal es un complejo arquitectónico constituido de un gran auditorio, una gran sala de cámara, salas polivalentes y salas de exposiciones proyectado por Rafael Moneo y situado en San Sebastián (País Vasco, España). Se inauguró en 1999, y es, desde entonces, la sede principal del Festival de Cine de San Sebastián.
Está constituido, principalmente, de dos grandes volúmenes prismáticos que emergen de una plataforma. Cada "cubo", como popularmente se les llama, está formado por un prisma interior de obra de fábrica que configura interiormente una sala, encerradas a su vez por una doble pared formada por paneles translúcidos de vidrio prensado sujetos a una estructura metálica que abarca también los vestíbulos y pasillos. Entre estos dos cubos se forma una gran superficie o terraza transitable con vistas hacia el mar, tanto a la Playa de la Zurriola como a la desembocadura del Urumea. En esta terraza, a dos alturas diferentes (más alta frente al "cubo" pequeño), se organizan distintos conciertos del Festival de Jazz de San Sebastián, así como otras actividades como una discoteca nocturna durante las fiestas de la Semana Grande donostiarra.
The Kursaal Congress Center and Auditorium is an architectural complex consisting of a large auditorium, a large chamber, multipurpose rooms and exhibition halls designed by Rafael Moneo and located in San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain). It was inaugurated in 1999, and is, since then, the main venue of the San Sebastian Film Festival.
It is constituted, mainly, of two large prismatic volumes that emerge from a platform. Each "cube", as they are popularly called, is formed by an internal prism of a factory work that internally configures a room, enclosed in turn by a double wall formed by translucent panels of pressed glass subject to a metallic structure that also covers the halls and corridors. Between these two cubes a large surface or terrace can be moved with views towards the sea, both to the Zurriola Beach and to the Urumea estuary. On this terrace, at two different heights (higher in front of the small "cube"), different concerts of the San Sebastian Jazz Festival are organized, as well as other activities such as a nightclub during the Fiestas de la Semana Grande in Donostia.

The promoter Campo Volantín S.L. was the Company that extracted to contest the construction of a bridge that was saving the river Nervión not far from the emplacement where there is located today the prestigious Museum Guggenheim, in Bilbao, work of another recognized architect of international prestige, Frank O. Gehry.
The principal characteristic of the above mentioned project was consisting also of the fact that the bridge would have to be the sufficiently high thing as to stop to go on to the ships under his underpass. Santiago Calatrava, which gained the project, designed an impressive gangplank thanks to the great parabolic arch of steel that inclined and unfolded it crosses the gangplank across.
The arch of steel, with a circular section of 50 cm. Of thickness, it reaches a final height of 15 meters. The gangplank, with a total length of 75 meters, rises up to 8.5 meters of height with regard to his tide to open way to the ships under his underpass.
Two ramps of access in two sections of 2 meters of width each one and with a slope of 7 %, save the high difference that offers the gangplank her to cross of a side to other one. A few cables tightened of 30 mm. Of diameter they anchor to the arch of a white immaculate color for the sustenance of the surprising gangplank.
The architect endowed to this pedestrian gangplank of modern and innovative design by means of the employment a material of precious colorations, the translucent glass, and that together with the artificial lighting by means of a few areas lodged under the board, produce every night the visual only and authentic spectacular spectacle.
SPANISH
La promotora Campo Volantín S.L. fue la Empresa que sacó a concurso la construcción de un puente que salvase el río Nervión no lejos del emplazamiento donde se encuentra ubicado hoy día el prestigioso Museo Guggenheim, en Bilbao, obra de otro reconocido arquitecto de prestigio internacional, Frank O. Gehry.
La característica principal de dicho proyecto consistía también en que el puente tendría que ser lo suficientemente alto como para dejar pasar a los barcos bajo su paso inferior. Santiago Calatrava, que ganó el proyecto, diseñó una pasarela sobrecogedora gracias al gran arco parabólico de acero que inclinado y desdoblado cruza la pasarela de un lado a otro.
El arco de acero, con una sección circular de 50 cm. de espesor, alcanza una altura final de 15 metros. La pasarela, con una longitud total de 75 metros, se eleva a 8.5 metros de altura con respecto a su pleamar para dejar paso a los barcos bajo su paso inferior.
Dos rampas de acceso en dos tramos de 2 metros de ancho cada una y con una pendiente del 7%, salvan el alto desnivel que ofrece la pasarela para cruzarla de un lado al otro. Unos cables tensados de 30 mm. de diámetro se anclan al arco de un color blanco inmaculado para el sustento de la sorprendente pasarela.
El arquitecto dotó a esta pasarela peatonal de diseño moderno e innovador mediante el empleo un material de preciosas coloraciones, el vidrio translúcido, y que junto con la iluminación artificial mediante unos focos alojados bajo el tablero, producen cada noche un espectáculo visual único y auténticamente espectacular.

The nictitating membrane is a transparent or translucent third eyelid present in some animals that can be drawn across the eye for protection and to moisten it while maintaining visibility. Unlike the upper and lower eyelids, the nictitating membrane moves horizontally across the eyeball.
El Águila escudada (Geranoaetus melanoleucus), con su membrana protectora transparente nictitante (tercer párpado) que cubre la mayor parte de su ojo.
