February 22, 2010, and the water cycle is in full effect. Rain and warmer temps are causing the snow to revert to a semi-gaseous form, causing a haze of fog as a loaded Ohio Central coal train rolls north a few miles north of Zanesville, Ohio.
Back in the day, I would have called this a GLT, Glouster Turn, because it has the nice neat loaf of coal in the gons behind the power, but I think the folks at G&W had changed the symbol to BOT by then. I never bothered to listen to the scanner back then, so I don't know. If saw a train from the office window, I knew it was train time. And if the power/weather/light was good, it was lunchtime too.
It was designed by David Mach and constructed from 185,000 bricks and 6,000 cubic feet (170 cubic meters) of concrete. Some 34 construction workers took 21 weeks to construct it. It is 23 feet high and 120 feet long. It weighs 15,000 tons and covers an area of 6,458 square feet (600 square meters). Its official name is just “Train” although “Brick Train” is, for obvious reasons, commonly used.

I finally visited the Train World museum in Brussels, which opened in September 2015. Its huge collection of train memorabilia really takes you back in time and there are plenty of locomotives and train cars to climb into. Note to Urban Sketchers: it's very dark in the museum so bring a reading light!
This was the second train that came by. The second train came by only ten minutes later. The railroad line is owned by Norfolk Southern. Here is a video of this train. This locomotive is a C40-9W. I am using rrpicturearchives.net to know the type of locomotive. I'm still learning the different types of locomotives. This is a C40-9W.

The Durango & Silverton train winds its way through the foothills of Colorado's San Juan Mountains. I was in the Durango area last week and couldn't resist a quick capture of it.
