View from the rooftop garden of the Willis Building, Ipswich, looking towards the Buttermarket, with the spire of St Mary le Tower church in the distance.
Constructed in the early 1970s this building, in Friars St, was one of architect, Norman Foster's , early successes and is Grade 1 listed.
Looking towards Estes Park from the summit of Estes Cone. The town proper is hidden by Prospect Mountain, but you can see Lake Estes beyond and to the right. Lily Mountain dominates the right foreground.

as we were climing towards McAlester Pass, I regretted not having dinner the night before (the bugs!) and having little breakfast earlier in the day (the bugs!).
Sitting in my tent is not helpful to nutrition...
So as we were approaching the pass, I was eying this mountain with suspicion. Would we have to climb that gully to see the marvelous views behind? I popped the first of many electrolyte pills, and started feeling a bit better.
And I mustered my strength to proceed further.
However, the pass was not even close to there. Upon starting the climb, we immediately veered to the right, and continued at a steady altitude until South Pass. So much for climbing this.
Though, looking back, it sure seemed doable.
From the Pont de Diable, one looks across the road bridge and a railway bridge
Legend has it that, in the Middle Ages, the village of Céret was cut off from the other villages and the markets of the area by a deep gorge. The villagers decided that they needed a bridge - but how to build it? In 1321, the Devil proposed his aid - on condition that the first sould to cross the bridge would belong to him. The villagers accepted his proposition - and in the course of one night, the bridge went up. However, the villagers were smart - when all but the very last stone was in place, they sent a black cat across. Feeling cheated, the Devil was furious, and refused to fix the last stone in place. And to this day, the loose last stone is still there - and the bridge still stand, a superb arch spanning the gorge. It is no longer the road bridge to reach Céret, but serves pedestrians and cyclists to this day. The road bridge crosses the Tech a little way upstream, and a railway bridge crosses slightly further upstream - making a curious series of bridges, all within about 100 metres.
It is a masterpiece of medieval engineering

A whole load of shots we got from a really autumnal visit to the local Gunners Park in Shoebury. Gunners Park includes part of what was a military range until quite recently. Sun and mist, birds and some great scenery – will add more photo-specific commentary later…for now too many kids knocking at the door for sweets…The groins towards East Beach Shoebury, 31st October 2009
